What the thoughts in this?? It really is a good price…trying to decide if I’d be better doing the kids preorder (also a $50 discount) or just going ahead and getting an ipad/iPad mini for the 8yo…12 yo has an iPad mini and a kindle reader…8yo has a nabi that she never really used much both husband and I have iPads….hmmm
Does anyone know what the one time fee costs to unsubscribe from the special offers that come on the 49.99 kindle? I was thinking about buying one for our son but didn’t know how annoying the special offers are & have read you can opt out for a fee.
My daughter has one with the offers and it’s not annoying at all. It is $15 more without the offers

It’s not annoying but they have a lot of grown up themes as screen savers including sexual, violence and lots of adult product placement. I have them on mine but turned off on my sons.
If you start to order this new one when you configure it, it gives an option of $15 to order “without sponsored screen savers.” Maybe that is it?
I was concerned about the ads too but a simple swipe and they are gone. They don’t pop back up unless your screen is inactive—sort of like a computer screensaver. I seldom notice them.
The ads aren’t annoying at all.
