What happens if we are half way through our prime membership and do this deal?

    • amber

I bought this phone a month ago, my orginal end date of prime was oct 3,2015 it added a year from the expiration so now it end oct 3,2016. So it adds a year onto ur current end date

I bought this phone a few weeks ago. Has anyone been able to download the Google Play Store? I followed the instructions I found online, but after a day or two it stops working and I have to uninstall it and re-install everything. Anyone have any advice?

  3. Amy

I am really interested in this deal but I don’t see any where on the ad that it says a free year of amazon prime. Also, If you already have amazon prime will they just apply that to the next year?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Amy! If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the Product Overview section, you should see where it says that it includes a year of Amazon Prime.

  4. Michelle

Does the Prime activate if you only use this phone as a media device without activating it with a carrier to use as a phone?

    • Donna

Yes, I bought this phone 2 weeks ago and all you have to do is register it via Amazon. I haven’t activated it with a carrier yet. If you already have Prime it will add another year. I got my welcome to prime email almost immediately after registering it with Amazon.

I have this phone and while it is an improvement over my old phone, I have been frustrated with it at times. If you are a Prime customer already, the free year is added onto your subscription. Camera is great on phone but I have had to uninstall and then reinstall apps to get them to work.

  6. Denise

I’m not familiar with how to register the phone with a carrier in this way. Can you just register it with any of the carriers? They all have such different plans. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you!

  7. Kelly

I’m considering getting a prime membership, but have verizon as my cell phone carrier so didn’t think this offer would be worthwhile for me. I didnt consider the option of not activating it as a phone. If I only register it with amazon, it should be similar to using an Ipod touch, correct? With a wireless connection I could still use all the apps?

    • Donna

      Yes, that’s correct.

I have had this phone for about a month, and use it with straight talk, and have not found any flaws with it!! The camera is amazing!! I followed the instructions on how to download the google app store, so I have all the apps that I couldn’t download from the amazon app store. I get better reception with this phone than I did with my iphone. So far I love this phone and the price is amazing along with amazon prime for a year!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the feedback Jennifer! 🙂

I’ve had this phone for 6 months and LOVE it. I bought a SIM from Cricket for only $1 and with the family share plan we only pay $20 per line for unlimited calls, text and 2.5 G data. I had an issue once with the phone where an app woudn’t work. The phone has a “firefly” button which is instant customer support. I was immediately connected to a fire phone assistant (a real person) when I pressed Firefly and in minutes they remotely installed the update that my phone needed. Worked perfect after that. I think this phone and the year of prime are the best deal on the market, especially if you get on a goood cell plan like Cricket Family Share.

I wish I understood more about carriers – we have a tracfone and do not want a sky high bill – I like what liesl did – I can afford $20 a monty – how to?

      • Olga

Same here, so hate paying around $1000 for a phone bill each year. How is tracfone?

        • Kim

Tracfone has plans as low as $9 a month but I am using the $100 1 year card and have left over carry over every year since I am mostly on WiFi.

      • AJ

Basically research and choose what carrier you want. So i chose a prepaid plan, straight talk, which can be bought at walmart. I read the instructions and inserted the sim card you buy in the starter pack for straight talk. If you want to transfer your phone# then you need to call customer service. I hope that helps you a bit. I understand how confusing it is. This phone is unlocked gsm and that means you can use it with any carrier that is gsm. Most prepaids are gsm. I know sprint is NOT. HTH

Do you get the phone service through?

  11. paris013

I’m interested in this phone for my husband, but am wondering what the return policy is? Can’t seem to find it anywhere in the listing

  12. Amalia

Great phone. Gave it to my son when he started Middle School. It does what he needs it to do. Text, call, pics, web, games. I have ATT. I just added him on to our plan. Totally easy. My husband has a Samsung Galaxy 3, which is on its last legs. I’m trying to talk him into buying this phone to replace it. For the phone you get, you can’t beat the price. We already had Amazon Prime, and they added an extra year to it. I wanted to get my son a new phone, but not one that would require me to sign another 2 year contract. This phone was a great find.

  13. SJ

    This deal is over already?

  14. PD

I already have prime membership till Apr 2016. If I buy this phone, one year will be added to my prime account.
What if I cancel prime membership in January, will they deduct anything for phone from membership fee before refund ? Any idea?

    • FloralMom

No. You won’t get any $ back. The Prime membership is just a bonus so that you can experience the full features of the phone. Totally worth it though! I love my firephone.

      • PD

        Okay… Thank you! 😊

  15. Monique

Is this deal dead? I want in!

  16. Amy

It tells me this item is no longer available

  17. FloralMom

I bought this phone 6 months ago for what I thought was a screaming deal, this price is incredible! I want to buy it just to have in case one of our current phones dies. I probably won’t, but if you already use Prime, $20 for this phone is incredible!! I love my phone. My few qualms, the camera is not as good as my old iphone. Some pictures are amazing, full outdoor day light, but otherwise it can be frustrating. Slow shutter and few different settings, but lots of photo enhancement options. The color of pictures is weird. I’m a florist and take a lot of photos of my work to post on the business fb page. I prefer to still use my old iphone for the photo and truer color quality. I have not download GooglPlay because the tech support people said that they can’t guarantee any apps that you download through a third part/piggyback. So it would make the warranty void. That’s was many months ago however, so they might have changed things since. Because of that, some of my apps are not available through the amazon app market. Cartwheel, ibotta, and lots of those great couponing apps aren’t available yet.

  18. SJ

The listing said In Stock so I created an account. When I tried to add to cart, it said no longer available. That was around 12:35 Eastern Time.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear that. Looks like it is gone 🙁

  19. Jill (MamaGing.com)

When I click on “here” the page says Sorry, we no longer carry this item.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bummer, looks like this is no longer available 🙁
