I am a father of minor children and my wife and I saved thousands and thousands by taking advantage of all the promotions that you tell us about, especially the ones like diapers and wipes because they are so expensive to buy at regular price. We have been “Hip2Saving” only since November of 2013 and will tell ya, by getting stuff for free or nearly free, we have been able to save enough to buy last month a beautiful house. How? OH my, I love this! Congrats on the new home. It really is a lifestyle, learning to live within your means and buy the things you need/want with the money you have! We paid off our first home, and built our 2nd with a low mortgage. It was the grace of God, and a lot of good decisions that added up over the years. Hip2save is a huge part of that. Thanks Collin!

This is Art writing 🙂 Wow!! THANK YOU very much for all the wishes, each one of you is so supportive and encouraging. I was reading and re-reading now all the comments while at the same time we are actually busy decorating our house for tomorrow’s birthday party for my daughter who is turning 3 years old (yes, he little girl on the picture dressed in bubble wrap). My wife and I are so delighted that we got to be picked for this week’s Happy Friday. And I finally need to find a way to stop smiling because my smile muscles are about to start hurting after I found out we are chosen to be posted here))) We are so happy we could share our joy with you. That is amazing and I want to Thank Collin too. We just bought a house last December and have been able to decorate and save on nearly everything. My husband jokes that the only reason he can afford my jewelery is because I save so much with couponing. Lol. But seriously. You do a great job searching and posting all varieties of deals. This story is so heartwarming and also shows the power of coupons! I realize that couponing takes time but it saves so much money.
Awesome story! I was laid off in late 2009, when I was 3 months pregnant with our first child. As you may recall, there were many layoffs at the time, no one was hiring, and soon my pregnancy began to show. Nobody wanted to hire a pregnant woman, so I was unable to find a new job. I started couponing to make ends meet. After I found your blog, I was able to save so much MORE, and in the summer of 2012 we were able to move into a bigger home! We now have another child, and six years after being laid off, I’m still a stay-home-mom- only now it’s by choice! Thank you for all you do Collin!
Laura, how do you and all of you guys do it? How do you save A LOT by couponing? I feel so clueless…the occasional paper or mail coupons don’t really help to save a lot, I guess that I’m not getting something but I’d really love to learn to coupon to save and help out my family…

Coupons are actually a small piece of “couponing”. You have to combine coupons with sales, gift card promotions and loyalty rewards. You buy things on clearance for future use. When you see a super great deal you think outside the box (could those pink and red heart rings 90% off after Valentine’s Day be favors for your daughter’s birthday party). Sometimes you buy ahead but sometimes – since you know you hardy ever have to pay retail – you wait to get what you want until a deal comes along. If you want to learn I’d read through Collins site and watch her videos. Pick one store to start, figure it out then pick a second, etc. my favorite have always been CVS, Target and Publix (FL/southern grocery store). Good luck!

Ailar, as other have said, it is not only by using coupons. We buy each week what is on sale and of that, what we like I buy as much as I can afford and as many coupons I could get, as long as the food does not go bad. For other items such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, I buy as much as I can when the price is lowest. We buy what is in season, we find new recipes to prepare, we freeze so that we dont get tired of the same. If we run out of X kind of bread we like…too bad, wait until is on sale again and combine with coupons. We like greek yogurt? One week they dont fit in the fridge (they were on a great sale) but then we wait until there is another sale and coupons. We eat something else instead. Kids love strawberries? Wait until next season, for now is apples, bananas and pears. And so on. For clothing I always buy off season and put it away for the future. I hope this helps.
