Im heading on a flight today with Frontier because of these super cheap flights. When I went to check in, they’re asking $35 for your first checked item, and $20 for a carry onwhen you pay ahead of time. If you wait until you get to the gate and they ask you to pay, it’s $60! Im cramming everything into my purse and I am fully expecting to have to pay for sodas and snacks on the plane. Just be knowledgeable about extra fees that may make this super cheap flight not as great of a deal down the road.

Darn 🙁 Thanks for the feedback Katie!

You can bring a backpack at no charge… It’s considered a personal item. Just throw your purse in the backpack!

My husband and I will be doing this when we fly Allegiant next week, one backpack each! It has gotten so bad with them they now charge $5 if you have them print your boarding pass at the gate. Unfortunately I have to make the trip.

      • Hello

depends on the size of the backpack my jansport was charged extra

    • Hello

you have to pay for check in bags (not even one is free) AND hand carry because you can only bring one personal item for free & it should be very little. pls see dimensions of personal items. if u are with a spouse & want to sit by each other, you will be forced to pay extra because you can’t reserve a seat without paying extra. you can’t ask for a glass of water because you have to pay at least $3 for a bottle. the “economy” seats are uncomfortably tight in space, but I wear a size 10-12 jeans so the problem must be me. You have to pay for everything with extra $$

My flight got diverted to some other state because I had a medical emergency. Consequently, I had to change my other flight schedules because of this. Frontier’s customer service was horrible and didn’t care about any of my reasons. I had to purchase a new ticket because it would have been a lot cheaper than all the penalties they wanted to charge me. According to them, I bought a promo flight ticket without travel insurance. Imagine the the hassle after being hospitalized. I guess I can’t complain because they are right, but yeah, this is the kind company Frontier is.

We flew from Dallas to Denver with the great Frontier promo in Sept. My husband, myself, 4 yo, 9 month old, and 2 exchange students. We only paid the $25 per person for one way ticket (baby was a free in my lap). We each took a back pack, and the baby got a diaper bag. We checked 2 carseats for free at the ticket counter, and printed our boarding passes there for free. We are too frugal to pay for seat assignments, food, bags, etc. I took snacks from home, and a sippy cup of water for each kid (TSA often lets you bring water if it’s for babies/toddlers), and bought drinks at the airport to take on the plane. To our surprise all 5 of us (baby was in my lap) were in the same rown right next to each other. They even had us sitting toward the front of the plane. We had a great experience.

So far every scenario that I have entered says it does not qualify for the promo, although everything I have entered should have.

    • Sheila

I should clarify that is for the Frontier flights.

All of the flights that I tried for were sold out 🙁

I have flown with Frontier and Allegiant many times. Maybe it’s because I fly with my 1 year old and 4 year old that I never have any problems. I already know that I’m going to be charged for everything under the sun in advance, so I plan accordingly. When you fly with children, they will not separate you, so don’t bother paying for your seats. It’s cheaper to check a bag or carry on online when you’re booking. These are also direct flights, most anyways, so that’s something to consider as well. BTW I just booked a direct flight from Orlando to Cincinnati yesterday for $19. Couldn’t be more excited about this!!

That’s great Amy! Thanks so much for sharing! 😀

We are checking 1 bag, took seat assignments and with the ticket cost, we are only paying less than $100 per person round trip! Can’t beat that. My hubby and I will share the checked bag and carry on a personal item each. We were able to take the first flight available which is in 5 days. You really have to be flexible to take advantage of these. I guess I might have to pay for coffee on the plane.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sounds great! Have a great trip! 😀

  6. Brooke

you have to pay to check a bag, but it’s only $25! cheaper than a carry on. you literally cannot beat that.

      😀
