Happy Friday: Future Hip2Saver
Sent from reader, Stacey:
My daughter Aubrey, who just turned 10 in October, really wanted an iPod this summer and really didn’t want to wait for her birthday or Christmas… but nonetheless, she knew I wasn’t buying her one. She decided to look online to see how she could make money. She started this summer doing a lemonade stand and earned a ton of money there.
Then she bought (with her own money) some baby clothes (name brand) at a yard sale for 50 cents and sold them for more money online. With both of those, she was able to get an iPod herself with all her earned money! I am so proud of my “future Hip2Saver”!!

Brilliant job! Congrats on all of your hard work! You have a bright future ahead.
Such a brilliant job…god bless you…
What great life lessons learned so early! Great job little one, and to Mom too!
Way to go Aubrey! π
Awesome parenting Stacey! Teaching kids about money early is so important, especially the fact that money is earned by doing work! It instills a strong work ethic and gives them a sense of accomplishment to have earned something they wanted. I’d bet
she appreciates that iPod even more than if she has gotten it as a gift and will take better care of it too. Awesome!
Agree! Great job!
Already setting goals and working hard! She has a fantastic future ahead of her! Great job girlie! Keep it up & congrats on your achievement!
Good job..
This is awesome!! Great job Mom and Aubrey!!
Good job! I love to see kids learning work ethic. So many these days seem entitled rather than willing to work. You should be so proud.
Such a adorable idea. I loving the lemonade stand and ideas…:-)
Woo!! An amazing girl!!
I love this. I remember my parents making me earn money for my computer for college and pay for my car, while my friends had all of their stuff paid for. Funny thing is even though my stuff was and is nice it lasted way longer because I knew the value behind it because I worked so hard for it. She will probably take better care of the iPod now that she knows all the hard work that she had to put into buying it. Great lesson!
Fantastic..!!!! Soo Proud and Happy for Mom to have raised such a wonderful young lady..!!! Wonder lesson learned!!
* wasn’t as nice
Good job Aubrey.

50 cents for lemonade?! Holy inflation! Lol. I sold lemonade for 5 cents. π all joking aside, I’m very proud of you and your daughter. I hope I can teach some of the same values to my son (who’s only 16 months now).

Hard work pays off π
What an excellent job paving the way for this world’s future! Excellent work mom & daughter! An inspiration π
How cool. There’s a future entrepreneur in her!
She is awesome and smart.
Love this! Great job!
Wonderful! Great attitude and skill!
Love this! Just re-told this story to my four year old. He had so many questions and thought this was really cool. Growing up, my dad owned a farm and I would pick and sell our blueberries I had picked and pie I had made at our Farmer’s market. It’s amazing how many people will support hard work, especially from children. Great job, Aubrey! The world needs more of this!
Precious! Thanks for sharing!
AUBREY IS AMAZING! GREAT WORK!!
Very Nice. The future is bright for this young lady. Great Job!
Way to go, Aubrey!
So proud of you Aubrey! You remind me of my daughter at that age! π I made a deal with my daughter when she was 11 that for every $ she earned working that I would match with a dollar for her a car when she was 17. Surprisingly, she saved $3500.00 and I kept my promise and matched it. $7000.00 is great for a first car! I was sooo proud of her! That was years ago but she still remembers that valuable lesson and is very conservative with her money! π Congrats mom! π
That’s awesome! I love reading stories like this!
My son was like that! He used to sell snacks , canned Starbucks, plus gum and altoids that my fellow hairdressers needed at work! Always made his own money although he certainly didn’t have toπ He at a Police Academy and works full time now!
