GROUPON

Today is the LAST day that Groupon is offering an extra 20% off up to THREE Local Deals, 10% off Getaways, and 10% off Goods Deals (up to $50 discount) with promo code JUMBO3 at checkout. If you’d like to purchase more than one deal, you’ll need to do so in separate transactions as the code can only be applied to one deal at a time. This would be a great time to snag a voucher for a local restaurant and more!

On a side note, would you use a Groupon on a first date?! Please share!

I would absolutely use a groupon on a first date! If frugality is something you’re into, it’ll come out eventually. Might as well put it out there from the start.

Photobarn is offering free photo heart, just pay shipping. use code FREEHEART.

      Thanks Niki!

If one is a “high value” person, they should. It says the person is confident and handles their finances well, It makes sense anyways, Many first dates do not go further than the first night.

  4. Beth

Well, it might make your possible mate realize that you are a saver! Great savings for the future !

Good question. I personally see no issue with it.

Ladies, what do you think of a guy using a groupon (or coupons) to pay for a first date meal?

    • Samantha H

      Greg~

If a guy is up front about it, I LOVE IT! It shows he’s in tune with his finances and loves a good deal! But it’s gotta be a conversation. If he doesn’t say anything about it and tries to be sneaky about it at the end, it comes off weird. No shame in saving money, so don’t act like it!

      My two cents. πŸ™‚

I think it looks better on a guy than a girl. Just be prepared with a backup in case she orders more or it becomes a hassle. You can be frugal but not cheap. How smooth are you about it? You could comment before the date and get the feel. Like Hey We should try this place I’ve never been. I have a great deal for it. I wouldn’t flip it at the beginning of the meal in the table.

  6. Ketsy

I wouldn’t. First dates can be intimidating as it is. You are being judged by the other person. Groupons can also be tricky. Then you get into inclusions/exclusions or having to wait for a manager to approve it or do you feel limited or limit your date to only the amount of the Groupon or whether you calculate the tip before or after the coupon. That’s getting too serious about the bill when you should be focusing on your date.

I completely agree with Ketsy. Another factor is the type of restaurant. A super casual restaurant – no. A very pricey restaurant – yes but maybe date 3 or 4.

I don’t date anymore, but I am no stranger to the dating scene. I think i probably went on 1 dinner date as a first date. You don’t want to be stuck making small talk with someone you can’t relate to for 90 minutes in case things dont work out… Coffee, cocktail, walk in a very public park.
groupon for pottery painting or something, I would be very OK with.

I have no problem with a date using a groupon, but it’s just polite to check with the restaurant beforehand. I once went on a date who, after we’d sat down at our table, said “So you’re paying right?”…I’m all for equality and paying the bill half the time, but just blurting it out like that to your date? Not cool.

Loved reading the dating comments. Thank goodness I am.over that phase, sorry to all the single guys and gals out there. I feel for the guys out their on a budget with limited finances, which is most young single guys these days. Ladies, let them use a groupon. It’s already bad enough they have to foot the bill on the first several dates. As for my husband and I, we only go out for nice dinner dates if we have a groupon. I like sitting in front of the white table cloth and fancy plated meals, but please spare me the $100 price tag.

I most certainly did use a groupon on the first date I paid for with my husband. He paid for dinner on our first date and I decided to pay for our second date and there was a Groupon for a place I had been dying to try so I need and within a few months after that date he popped the question

  11. Mel

I actually dated a guy for awhile that was very frugal, he used Groupon and Yelp deals, and it was honestly one of the things about him that I loved the most!

  12. Kate

I would definitely think the guy was cheap if he used a groupon on a first date.. saving is wonderful but first date??? Not a turn on for me.

  13. Denise

The last guy I went out with on a first date (coffee date) didn’t even pay for my coffee. So I would be thrilled if I was getting some food, Groupon or not, lol. I always pay my share for dates, but it bothered me that he didn’t even offer, especially since he asked me and it was a first date.
