Getting the purple. On amazon the tax is almost $18. FYI

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad you could grab it! πŸ˜‰

      • me

        You and me both, sister!

  2. Danielle

I saw this in orange at my Home Goods for $160. Maybe they have it at yours?

  3. Molly

Has anyone every return a pot to have it fixed or replaced due to flaws or damage?

    • Erin

Nope! Quality is excellent. However, I did break the handle/knob off the top of my ceramic LeCreuset spice jar–totally my fault–and LeCreuset offered credit toward something else, since the spice jars were discontinued. I didn’t even buy the spice jar from LeCreuset directly, and I had had it for years (and, let’s face it, ceramic is breakable). I didn’t take them up on it because I really liked the jar, which I use as a salt pig, but I thought it was nice of them.

I love Le Creuset. Just wondering where this is made…china or France???

    • me

      Should be France.

    • Mimi

All Le Creuset Cast Iron are made in France. Only stonewares such as mug and plate are made in China or Thailand.

  5. Annie Backscheider

I actually won one of these from the TV Show Home & Family this past Christmas. I gave it to my mom, and it is awesome! It is solid, cast iron, and heavy, but sturdy! I have a larger orange dutch oven. Its a fun color! It is so versatile–we use it all the time for all sorts of dishes! It is made in France, and has a lifetime guarantee. They do suggest that you wash by hand, and avoid the dishwasher as it can be harmful to the enamel.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for such a great review Annie! Good to know!

I bought a Dutch oven a few months ago and debated what brand to buy. I ended up with a food network one from kohls that I could use a bunch of coupon codes on. It was wayyyyy cheaper than this brand. Just curious, what is the difference in brands? Is it worth the money???

    • Maite

Yes, I bought a cheaper one and the edges rusted after 2 or 3 uses ( even though I thoroughly dried it). I have never paid more than 60 for this brand because I usually buy them at Marshalls or TJ Max.

    • riss

I, too, bought a Tramontina 6.5 qt at Sam’s for $27. Don’t know if it’s a good brand, but for someone who never had one before, I figured it’s good enough. I don’t even know what to cook in it, have to look online. It’s still in the garage, sealed 😨.

      • Emily

I’ve had one of these for several years and i love mine. I usually cook soup/chili in it. I’d never pay as much as the one in this post. I also have a lodge and it’s wonderful too.

        • Mamasweetpea

Depending on when the tramontana Dutch oven was purchased, it may have been rated highly and best value among Dutch ovens. Lodge also rated at some point https://www.americastestkitchen.com/equipment_reviews/1025-dutch-ovens. There are also various ratings avail online. In the end, pricier doesn’t necessarily cook better than their lesser price counterparts but if one wants heirloom quality, the le creuset or staub are ways to go simply for their higher quality enamel.

  7. Kim

I’m lucky enough to own two…a round n an oval….I seriously use them at least once a day. I cook a lot….we have eight kids…these are so worth the money! N yes, hand wash!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks for your feedback Kim!

  8. Ami

I have a 4pc set of LeCrueset mugs and the salt and pepper mill. I just got a nice set of Calphalon Signature pots and pans that replaced an orange Rachael Ray set that got super ugly and stained very fast. How are these pots? Are the difficult to clean when it comes to the enameled exterior?

    • Keri

I hand wash, but sometimes it gets a dark color almost burned on the bottom inside, I use baking soda and it cleans right up what scrubbing won’t get.

    • Maite

They are amazing, just heavy I get a workout everyday washing them!!!!

    • Erin

They are surprisingly easy to clean, which is a *huge* deal for me.

  9. Carmen

I own several sets, its the only thing my mom introduced me to! She still has sets from when I was a child, so its a GREAT investment. You wont be sorry!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s super cool! Thanks for sharing! πŸ˜‰

  10. Kitty

You wont realize how amazing they are until you have one. Its worth the investment and you’ll wonder why you waited so long. It heats so evenly, it’s oven safe even at high temperatures. I love using it for no-knead dutch oven bread.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing your experience with these Kitty!

  11. Brittany

They have these at my TJMaxx for half this price.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Oh cool! Great find!

  12. Amy

Is it safe on stovetop? Will it break if it slips from your hand?

    • Erin

I’ve never used mine on my stovetop, but I don’t know for sure. It is cast iron under the enamel, so it shouldn’t break. I imagine the enamel could perhaps chip, but this is a serious Dutch oven–it’s pretty heavy–I don’t see it “slipping” from your hands.

    • riss

The meatball recipe on le creuset says cook it on stove then in the oven, then back to stove. So I assume it’s stove-top safe.

  13. Missy

Are use mine on the stovetop all the time

  14. Missy

I use mine on the stovetop all the time

  15. Buckeye momma

I LOVE this pot!!! My dad gave me one and it’s amazing! Worth the $280 listing price! My husband says if this pot is ever lost he would gladly purchase a new one. Love a pork roast in this! Sear on the stovetop, straight into the oven and 3 hours later…delicious!
