We got this SE after Thanksgiving. According to people on youtube, this SE is more like the 1st gen roku. Reviews (I think on BestBuy.com) say that this is a little slower and doesn’t have all the features of roku 2 or 3.

We have one and it is laggy and slow. Would recommend Chromecast instead if you have true Android devices (meaning: not Amazon devices that run a version of Android) (within the same price range) or an Apple TV if you have apple devices in your house (if you are willing to spend more).

P.s we only used it for a week before we got netflix.
I bought a Roku 3 at Christmas time $89. I like it. Easy to set up. Very Fast. Lots of free channels on top of paid. Voice command works really well.
