    I still can’t afford them, even at 70% off……LOL

    • Tracy

      Me either…lol!

      • Kelly M Wright

        I agree! Wow…those are pricey!!

    • Krystal

Don’t worry – these are mostly outlet items and aren’t worth it at any dollar amount.

      • riss

I disagree. I bought a leather purse at an outlet, use it almost daily for over a year now, and it still looks good, holding up really well. Not bad for $89. But to each his own.

        • Jen

I agree. I bought two large totes for $90 each at the outlet. My daughter uses hers as a school bag. Well worth the money. We’ve both gotten many compliments and they’ve held up well to daily use.

      • Becca

How can you tell if they are outlet items? I’m not too familiar with Kate Spade, but with Coach it is easy and I know you can tell a significant quality difference.

        • riss

Honestly, I can’t tell. Both are good quality, at least the ones I bought in the past. I guess it’s the same in all other name brand items – you hardly see the same style in regular store and the outlet, but some are almost similar styles, KWIM?

        • Jennifer

The way you can tell are in the details and the product number too. Product numbers that begin with W are made for outlet stores. Product numbers that begin with P are regular items. You can also look at the Kate spade emblem on each purse. The emblem is a giveaway on whether it’s an outlet or regular item. The lining can be different as well.

          • Lindsey

Thanks for the info re: P and W. That’s helpful! I am not a big fan of the outlet items. It seems like all the ones included in this surprise sale are outlet items.

          • Nicole

Ohhh thank you for letting me know about the P and W. Just checked two bags I got at Goodwill, both have a P in front of the numbers and I spent $45 on two beautiful like new bags. Woo hoo!

      • Jennifer

I agree with you. If I’m going to purchase a pricey item I want it to be original and not made for outlet.

  2. Tabu

Its says final sale… So cant return or exchange!!!

  3. riss

If you have a Kate Spade outlet near you, they usually have better deals. We have 2 outlets (north and south of us) about an hour drive or so and I’ve got fabulous deals there, esp during a holiday. President’s day sale coming up!

    • Susie

I agree, around the holidays the prices were MUCH cheaper at the outlet store. I got the surprise sale emails on a regular basis and was surprised how much higher the online 75% off prices were compared to outlet prices for the same stuff.

  4. Sharyn

Just as an FYI, I didn’t have a good experience with their last sale when I ordered a purse and wallet. The purse arrived with a long scratch along the entire front of it and the zipper on the wallet was broken. These items are final sale, and it seems like Kate Spade uses this to get rid of their damaged items. After hours on the phone with customer service, they agreed to take back items and refund card. However, it took them two months to credit account with more follow up calls. I wouldn’t order from them again online.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer. That does sound frustrating. 🙁 Thanks for sharing your experience.

  5. Melissa

I can’t vouch for Kate Spade items. I’ve never had any. I must say that I have totally changed my thinking regarding expensive well made handbags. In the past I would never spend the money on anything really expensive. Especially a designer handbag. I thought they were overpriced status symbols, and I am not into that. But over a year ago I was given a leather Dooney & Bourke handbag as a gift. I don’t know how much it cost. I know the givers got it on sale, but I am certain it was still very expensive. I would have never forked over the money myself. But I have to report that a year later after only using this bag it still looks brand new. I notice no wear and tear. I can’t say that about any other purse I have ever bought. Most look pretty shabby in a year’s time. But not this one. It helps that it is leather. So many today are fake leather, even some of the expensive brands from the higher end department stores. And they show it. So, as I say, I have changed my thinking and am not going back to the cheaply made handbag. If you get a really good one it saves money in the long-run.

    • Sarah

I agree with you! I used to think Coach was an over priced status symbol until I bought a handbag for $66 at the outlet 5 years ago. I used that hand bag for 5 years EVERYDAY. It held up so well and I just replaced it due to some wear and tear issues. That $66 was money very well spent!!!!

      • Melloddie

I’m just the opposite☺. In my young days, which is a long time ago (haha), I used to be a Coach & LV bags ***** (don’t think I can use the word here😉). But since I had kids, none of those bags are ‘kids’ compatible as I always need to tote around extra clothes, wipes, drinks, snacks, etc. Plus nothing about those bags can justify what I could buy for my kids instead. I’ve sold pretty much all the designers. These days I mainly use crossbody bags from Target and such.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for your review Melissa!

    • Me

I agree, that a lot of the time, the better made ones DO hold up better, and have paid more to get better quality. You just have to look at each brand and Outlet/not outlet. Sometimes it is worth the extra money. I do have some bags that still look new after a year, but I guess I like to switch them out by then, so it’s not really worth spending $250 if you like to get more new ones in a years time.

  6. Kellie

I ordered a purse from the 75% off sale and then ordered the same purse in a different design at regular price from the website because I loved it so much. Both were exactly the same. Beautiful and well made. I also ordered the polka dot planner full price in December and now it’s on the sale site. Pretty sure it would be the same.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! Thanks for sharing Kellie!

  7. Tracy

Still a bit pricey. I’d love one of these adorable bags, but even at 75% off, can’t justify spending so much. Bummer 🙁

  8. Judy Trac

Still so pricey. In pharmacy school so can’t afford this high lol

    • kelsey

At least you’ll be able to afford it when you’re done! It gets better. My husband is three years out of his engineering degree and I’m just a year out of mine but let me tell you – it gets so much less stressful almost immediately. People like to throw in our faces that we will be “saddled with student loans” bc we both have master’s degrees but through our work we have an incredible amount of benefits, more money in the long term and because we were good students we are actually only $40k deep in loans. In just a few years you’ll be able to buy these bags for yourself, presents or whatever else you like! Great job with the education Judy Trac!

  9. Si

Great! Got 2 cute wristlets! I don’t like to carry around big hand bags. Wristlets are more my style. So whenever I see designer ones on sale I snatch them up!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Happy you could snag them!

  10. Mandysfestival

Always buy from these sales and never disappointed! They hold up so well even with kids pulling and scratching at them. Too pricey for me when not on sale, but when they are it’s a steal. Can’t wait to use my new diaper bag next month

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Thanks so much for your feedback!

  11. Anita

I purchased the travel wallet that holds your passport etc, it matches the purse I got during the last surprise sale and I had a $5 PayPal credit that somehow appeared! Bonus!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! So glad you could score the extra savings Anita!

  12. pris

Just foward this to my hubby! Hint! Hint! For valentines day 😉

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great idea! 😉

  13. Shop624

Great feedback- I do agree the expensive bags last more – that’s why I have a few good bags. When the kids came along- I have to think twice when buying a bag- sometimes it’s not worth it – still looking for the perfect cross body bag !

    • Catie

I got a wonderful cross body bag from The Sak 4 or 5 years ago. It is leather and really quite roomy. Carried it all over Germany with me and had plenty of room for what I needed. I found mine at Ross.

    • Laura

Perfect crossbody bag- MZ Wallace Mia! Love it! Expensive but perfect and held up well! Wipes clean too

  14. Zee Gillette

Collin, where does it say on their website that shipping is free at $175 and up? I just purchased a bag at 175, and they charged me $5 shipping. I know its not much but every little bit of savings does help. 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer. It appears that is no longer being offered. Thanks for the heads up!

  15. Kim

I bought a plain black tote last year on this sale and love it! A friend at work loved it so much she went and got one (for quite a bit more!) … Mine is in great condition. My friend’s bag fell apart around the handles (the stitching came out). She went to the store (not an outlet store) and they told her she needed a receipt and they would gladly fix it for her. Whether it is an outlet item or not I have no idea. I paid $99 for it so that seems like an “outlet” price, but the Kate Spade in the mall (not the outlet mall) was happy to fix it as long as she had a receipt/proof of payment.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear it Kim! Thanks for sharing!

  16. SunshineGirl

Love that I just happened to check Hip2Save today. Handbag, wallet–cute colors perfect for “season” in Naples Fl—AND they fit my budget! Even better is I didn’t have to sit in traffic to pick it up. Thanks for brightening my day!

  17. Jen

If I sign up for the 15% off email coupon can I use it on this?

  18. Casey

For those complaining about the quality of outlet items vs. regular KS items, I own 2 KS purses – one from a retail store and one from an outlet. The outlet bag I have is the exact style of bags they carry in the retail store, just in a outlet-only color. I did have an issue where the stitching that attached the strap to the bag came loose. I looked up KS’s warranty policy and ALL manufacturing defects are warrantied for one year. I took it back to the store and they repaired it for free.

The bag I have from the retail store I have been carrying for 2+ years now as my work purse as a flight attendant. It has seen A LOTTTTTT of abuse, but still looks great. The stitching is finally starting to go a little at the bottom where it sees the most wear, but I can honestly say that both my outlet and retail experience with KS has been so wonderful that I won’t be buying any other brand anytime soon!

    Hope that helps someone!
