   Awesomeness! Even though I already subscribe to the Redbox app & text messaging (looks like they’re trying to promote their app with this offer), the code they texted me still worked! (I did a “test” with it). The free dvd rental code is good thru 3/31/16, which is great cuz I don’t have time tonight to watch a movie!

    I’ve never tried redbox assuming it would always be out of stock or wouldn’t work somehow- how does an app/website help? How does the whole thing work?

  I use the app/website to see what movies are out and when you find one you like you can see which location has it (instead of getting there and it’s gone). Also the website allows you to put a hold on it (when you checkout) so no one can rent it before you. It’s very useful for me. I rarely ever just stop to see what’s in it.

  I never just stop at one to see what’s in it…I always use the web site or app to find something I want (and what location it’s at) and then reserve it. Lots of times I’ll use the web site while at work and then I can stop at whatever location on the way home. That way I know it’s there and no one else can rent it out from under me. Also sometimes the freebie codes (and I never pay for a rental–I always use a freebie code or a Play Pass earned freebie) are app-only, so the app is necessary for that. So sometimes if I’m out-and-about running errands and want a movie for that night, I’ll stop and use the app to see what’s available near me and then I can use the app-only code to get it for free.

    FYI – just used my code on redbox.com and I don’t have the APP, so it looks like the code works online as well.
