Update: Sephora emailed me back and stated this wasn’t a valid free shipping code and said it hasn’t been able to be used in several years. They then stated that VIB/Rouge members were probably able to use it and this wasn’t something Sephora advertised but was only on third party sites. Needless to say, I plan on returning the samples & eye shadow palette. Not worth $7+ to me. 🙁

Get something that you actually want? I bought a $17 eyeliner brush I’ve been wanting to try, I think their return policy is pretty good so if I end up not liking it maybe it won’t be a total loss.

I’m kinda on the fence on how I feel about this as well. I was given a free shipping code that I think was this one bc they were out of stock in store on an item that was also out of stock online so that I could order on my own when it did come in stock. It is a good deal so I could understand wanting to grab some goodies.
I’m a VIB Rouge with them so I spend an inordinate amount of money with them yearly anyway, so I don’t feel bad about the $10 eyeliner I just ordered in two separate orders (to get the samples twice) with free shipping at all. As a retail director, I can definitely say that when we run promotions like that our hope is that it encourages people to shop here that normally wouldn’t, and the benefit of that 99% of the time outweighs the disadvantage of those that order the $3 item. Otherwise we wouldn’t run the promo. Buy what you want. They’re still making money. Just my two cents.
Totally agree, Ann. I just became a VIB for the third year in a row, so Sephora gets *plenty* of my business. And they’re certainly not hurting for $, so if they offer a RARE free shipping promo and 5 samples, then what’s wrong w/ taking advantage of that opportunity? Why feel bad? When I get to try free samples of things that I’m actually interested in, then it makes me more likely to purchase the full-size product.
I’m willing to bet that customers abusing their generous return policy is much worse than customers spending $1 to get 5 samples and free shipping, LOL
With Rouge you always get free ship any order, with flash shipping spend $10 for a year of no shipping charges, any order..doesn’t matter which member level one is for flash.
This free ship code is to lure more customers, some may spend enough to hit a higher member level, others just spend the least or take advantage of the code to get what they were going to purchase anyways. They are prepared either way.
Personally, I won’t order just to order..I have an overflow of samples.
However, since it’s one code per order you miss out on using another code 😉
I have flash shipping so I didn’t need to use the code, but it wouldn’t have mattered anyway since I got the $1 MUFE palette and you can’t use any of the other codes for purchases under $25.

I got the MUFE pallet for $1. I will use for “pretend makeup” for my toddler. I’ll just fill the circles with either colored paper or non toxic paint so that she can pretend to do her makeup just like mommy. Just an idea…

Also, if you have a Sephora close by, they will give you free samples. I got a sample of expensive foundation to see if would work for me. It didn’t but at least I know.

I got a Sephora baked eye shadow trio on sale for $11 with the 5 free samples. It did charge me shipping however. So I called into customer service, it seems even on their end was an errror. But they canceled the order, then resubmitted it and made the promo code work manually and wrote down the promo.
So if you end up getting charged for shipping I would go ahead and call in and they can most likely help you drop the shipping cost. Hope that helps 🙂
I had to remove the code, and enter it again on the last page. The free shipping code I applied and it showed the shipping charge right before I placed the order. So I just removed the code, and added it again. Then it worked I did not get charged shipping. Just have to double review your order.
