I have a question I’m hoping someone might be kind enough to answer. We’re looking for a drill and I’m trying to get a good deal on one, but I keep wondering if I should hold off until Father’s day to buy one. We’re specifically looking at getting a Dewalt 20 volt drill and I’m wondering if anyone has ever bought one around Father’s day and if they were able to get a really good deal on one? It seems like the lowest I’ve seen one is around $129. Do they ever go lower than that?

    • Judy

Just a thought….you may want to check your local pawn shop. We got our DeWalt drill at a pawn shop and saved so much money.

    • Katie

You can by the drill/ impact driver combo (2 batteries and one is around $80 bought separately) for $199 at Lowe’s. I think the driver does better than the drill for most projects

    • Brittany

      Thank you for the suggestions!

Get the Ryobi One+ 6 tool set that is on sale for $199. It it a great value on a really nice set. I paid $299 for it about two weeks ago. I called HD today to see if they would honor the sale price if I brought in my receipt. They said they will!! Yay!! I have used all of the tools on various projects at home since buying, and it is a great set.

  9. Beth

Yay!!!!! I need mulch & I have been waiting for the $2 bags. Looks like I’m hauling mulch this weekend! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  10. Sheila

Are the bags of mulch 2 or 3 cu. ft.? Trying to figure out whether it is cheaper to buy in trailer full rather than by bags. Don’t buy the red mulch! Mulch should never be the focal point in your garden – the plants should!!! I always buy the brown. They don’t fade in the sun like the red does. If you buy red, you have to buy every year just to maintain that color. Expensive!!! With brown, you only need to replenish every 3 years provided you put down 5 inches or more. Most people put down too thin.

  11. LM

Ughh, we paid double for that 22ft multipurpose ladder at HD a month ago. It’s a great ladder! Wish we got that great price..

Does anyone know if using mulch like this will keep cats out of flower beds? We have several neighbor cats who like to use our flower beds as a litter-box! It is disgusting, wish people would keep their pets in their own homes 🙁

    • Erin

We use this mulch around flower beds. My cat loves to go play outside and she doesn’t seem to mind the mulch.

      • Me

Erin does that mean you don’t think it would repel the cats? I’m trying to find something that will keep them out of the flower beds

        • Megan

Use a large nugget type mulch, cat’s don’t like to dig in that. Also, there is some stuff you can sprinkle/spray in your garden area that keeps cats away. Not sure what it’s called, but we had a roaming kitty and the owner gave all of the neighbors some to put in their yards.. we didn’t take it since we have cats and didn’t want to “repel” our own kitties lol. Also, one neighbor put chicken wire under the bark in areas the cat was going, they don’t like finding that when they dig!

    • christine

My mother in law had this problem too. She found a device that you put near the garden that emits a sound to keep the cats away. It worked perfectly for her and she hasn’t had an issue since then. I’m not sure what the name of it was but I imagine you could google it to find out.

      • Me

Thanks, I’ll look it up. The way my yard is set up I would probably need 10 of them!!

    • Lin-z

My experience- the mulch attracts cats to use it more. Yuck! I sprinkle cayenne pepper everywhere and it seems to help.

      • Me

I’m going to go sprinkle the pepper everywhere!! lol! Thanks 🙂

  13. SCS

My husband went there today and picked up a pair of Husky hammers (packaged together). They were supposed to be on sale for $9.88. Originally $19.99? He couldn’t remember. BUT they rang up at $7! Two large good quality hammers for 3.50 each?! Heck yea! Love good deals on tools!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great find!

  14. Tara

Is this today only or Friday?

  15. Jen

Thanks Collin, I would have never known about the spring sale without checking your site! Ad matched the ferns at Lowes since Home Depot was completely out. Great deal for gorgeous plants on my patio all summer!!!!! 👍🏼

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Jen!

  16. Mary

Thank you so much for having an amazing site that I can search and find past items! I saw this post last week, but didn’t think I needed anything. Well I decided I today I need a ladder, and came back to find this post. It’s still on sale at Home Depot, and is $100 less than the same ladder at Lowe’s. Thank you!!
