FYI Consumer Reports had a recent article about sunscreens with Lower SPF than labelled. One was B B kids lotion 50 which was tested to be spf 8 instead. it’s the kind I used and explained last summer, I just thought it was wearing off, now I suspect it was just very low spf.

    • Just Me

I bought some Kroger brand 30spf and I felt the SPF was wrong also. No one burned but I think we were close.

    • Sara

Lin, Wasn’t one of the best on the list the Walmart brand? I was surprised by that. I have never bought it before but I think I heard that on the radio.

      • Just Me

Yes it was. I was just looking at the reviews. Equate ultra protection 50spf

    • Q

You are correct. It is many brands listed. also consumees are not applying it correctly. which makes it also ineffective, Even if it is a higher spf.

    • Vivian

Thanks for mentioning the report!! I never would have know about it 😱

Anyone know how the tanning spray is?

Hey y’all, Coppertone actually has a promotional deal right now: buy $20 worth of participating Coppertone products in a single transaction, after coupons, discounts, and taxes, snap a picture of the receipt and text it to Coppertone, and they will send you a Fandango promotional code for 1 free ticket to see Finding Dory or any Disney movie that is playing at that time. The promotion runs from May 15-June 28. Here is the url for the promotion:

It says limit 1 reward per household. But, if you were planning on stocking up on Coppertone, the Target deal above seems to be a pretty good one (remember, it has to be $20 AFTER coupons and discounts, but also after taxes!)

Sweet! Thanks for the reminder! Just updated!

I bought this brand for our beach vacation last year and We all burned. Lol…I wish I could upload a picture.

    • Tbell

I wonder if yours may have been expired? I love this brand, Kids and I have sensitive skin and this one doesn’t sting!!

      • Rosie

How do you know if they’re expired, these don’t have expiration dates?

      • Rachel

My target didn’t offer the gift card 🙁

I heard that using lotion is more effective than spray. My husband and I used this brand a couple weekends ago at an outdoor racing event and neither if us got burned. Used the spf50. We were in the Georgia heat for hours and it did great!

  6. nan

also reported was the No-Ad brand as being great ( per Clark Howard!)

  7. Cheryl

Will the 20% off work on the Coopertone too? Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The Coppertone deal starts 5/22, and the Cartwheel expires 5/21 🙁

I really hope that all the B B kids/baby is not really 8spf when it is labeled 50spf. This is the only one that we can use (that is cheap) because it does not have oxybenzone in it. The Hawaiian tropic was great but then they started putting oxybenzone in it.

If you get your inserts early, there is a $4/2 Q for Banana Boat in 5/22. I used it last night and paid $12.76 for 4 and received (2) $5 Gift cards. $2.76 for 4.

Got this deal today:) After coupon, cartwheel, target gc and taxes, mine came out to $4.16 for two banana boat. Thank you!

According to the magazine’s review, BB “protect & hydrate” lotion met its SPF claim. The kids one did not. The “protect and hydrate” is the only one I would by from BB. I didn’t look at the spray reviews because I don’t use them. I’ve used BB’s “protect and hydrate” recently, and it works (I have very fair skin that burns in just 10-15 minutes without sunscreen, but I did not burn when I was out for hours wearing this one — I apply a very liberal amount, and reapply every 2 hours, per the dermatology guidelines).

My Target wouldn’t give me the gift card. No signs up and the cashier (at the service desk) wouldn’t honor it even after we showed her the promo online.

  13. LilKim

I also had $1 cash back on ibotta courtesy of Michelob ultra (no beer purchase required). It ends on 5/21- be sure to check your account 🙂
