I was trying to use my loyalty money but you have to buy $39 worth after your loyalty points online to get free shipping, so I am wasting mine. I was going to try and use it tomorrow at the stores even though it says they expire today.

I have some I would have used today if they had released this information before it was too late to use them in the store. I just received the email within the last hour! Pretty lame on their part imo.

      • JeNjEn

I think it’s kind of rude to do that to their customers. I didn’t get the email until today at 6:48pm and the nearest S.A. is an hour away, so I had no time to go either. Also, it would’ve been nice to know today was the last day I could us my S.A. credit card 🙁

        • Amy

I got it at 10:15 pm est time. Nothing to do at that point. Uncool!

  2. Tina

    Wow, ALL stores?!?!

    • Amy

      Yep, bankruptcy

  3. Vee

So sad. There’s one that just opened a few months ago in our area😦

  4. Rose

I also heard this and also they said they will giving huge savings through August but I didnt know if it was true. Hopefully I can sore some nice deals for back to school for kiddos 😊

    • Jess

Careful our local new station looked into the liquidation and found most stuff was cheaper at Target….and target had it marked as their regular price.

    • Marcos

No, it isn’t, the SA on my town has been in clearance for the last two months, and still at 30% with higher regular prices. I had scan the ticket using the Amazon app, and the products still cheaper at Amazon. Except for those items in need, I don’t advise to go running to the stores. Not yet.

      • Rose

Yes they said that over the radio in my area to wait further on because they will be doing better deals. My kiddos go back at the end of August so Im waiting to see if better deals come up.

      • Rebekah Morast Shepherd

Marcos or anyone else that knows: How do I go about scanning something to see if it is cheaper on Amazon? Do tell!

  5. Bonnie

Thanks for the info.! I have an extended warranty on my treadmill. Glad to know it will still be honored.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Bonnie!

    Sad

  7. DirT

I was wondering why there was a new Dicks opening every couple months in orlando

    • Grey

Our SA was just replaced by a Dicks, too..olympia, wa.

  8. Sheila

At one point, not sure if it’s still true, their website was operated by a separate company so prices in store may be cheaper. They made the mistake of licensing online sales/web to a third party.

  9. Tarri

I knew the the rewards program was ending but only thought some stores were closing. And they did not give a lot of notice either on the rewards program ending.

I’ve gone to a couple Sport Authority stores as well as two Sport Chalets. I’ve yet to find any deals. Prices are high and after 3-4 weeks of the store closing signs 30% off is no bargain. They are also bringing in junk from other places not normally sold there. Very disappointing.

  11. debern

I have never shopped there. Prices were not competitive.

  12. Angelica

There are two different sports chalet in my area. One location is at 60-70% off and the other location is at 30% off.

    • Amy

We have one that was set to close in the initial round of closings and that one has up to 60% off. The other one that was only set to close when all of them were announced is still at 30%. I think that’s the difference

  13. Garfield

This is the second email they are sending about all stores closing. They sent one about a month ago.

  14. todd

I checked the S.A. near me and even with 30% off, they were still expensive. Maybe thats why they went bankrupt, because their prices are ridicious.

Well I am pretty bummed by this. I don’t have a local SA but I shopped online with them a lot. I often found some amazing deals. But more importantly their customer service was pretty awesome. For example: last year I found a great deal on Jansport big student book bags where I got all 3 of my boys book bags for $25 which is amazing for the brand. But one of the book bags didn’t ship because they ran out and couldn’t fulfill the order. Their customer service allowed me to pick fr a non sale item that was way more to make it “right”. I didn’t even get upset with them for them to offer it.

  16. Jen

We checked out ours here in KS, while most of the deals were absolutely terrible (I had just been in the Under Armour outlet and was still cheaper for almost everything) We did score some great deals on winter coats. I found a child’s North Face Denali jacket for $35, my husband also looked up the jacket he got on Amazon (I can’t recall the brand) and it retails for $220 and he scored it for $70. We found a few kids Columbia heavy winter coats for $28 too. Other than those deals, there was nothing else that was worth looking at IMO!

  17. Allison

A few weeks ago, I found one pair of women’s Nike tempos on clearance for $15 so I was able to get them for $10 with 30% off which was a great deal. Rest of the store was way overpriced even with the discount

  18. shirley

Wait until the final days of the store closing. I scored good deals on The North Face winter coat and school bags for the kids. No 90% but up to 70% off.

  19. Debra

I liked their loyalty program and military discount, but didn’t shop often with their prices so high. I went today because I needed weightlifting gloves. Products were 10% off.

  20. Jay

So what happens with the sports aurthority credit cards now?

  21. Jay

so what happens with their store credit cards? I have a pretty high limit on mine and now it’s just going top disappear and ruin my credit score?

    • Barbara Freidson

Apparently so. They cut off their store cards on May 25th and I lost 38 points off my credit score because of it.
