do any of you guys use abc mouse, my daughter is 4. i was hoping this would help prepare her for kindergarten. any thoughts? thanks

    • Michelle

Our 5 year old loves it and has been using it for 2 years now (advancing her “grade level” each year). This is the only electronic thing she is allowed to use whenever she wants and she is so proud when she completes lessons and “teaches” me things!

    • Jen

My four year old son hates most educational books and games. ABCMOUSE is the first website that has captured his interest in learning. He loves it and I have never seen him so proud of himself as when he is working on ABCMOUSE! I highly recommend this website!

This is a very neat website! abcmouse.com came to our local library to film for commercials and they filmed my 6 year old daughter so we got a one year membership free!!πŸ‘πŸΌ She loves it! So many learning tools for her to play! Definitely recommend!πŸ‘πŸΌβ˜ΊοΈ

    • Mary (Stellar Sidekick)

      Thanks for the feedback Steph!

  3. Sarah

I am also considering this for my 5 year old son. Does it teach phonics?

    • tamlc

Yes, phonics is one of the many skills the program teaches. You can individualize it for each child and I think sign up to 4 kids
under one account. I would highly recommend it!

  4. Sarah

My library has the website for free. You have to use it at the library, but you can create an account and your child can play on it every time you are at the library. It’s a nice way to discover if it’s really worth buying.

    • Mary (Stellar Sidekick)

      Great tip Sarah!

I did a month trial and went to cancel before it ended and it kept offering reduced prices to stay and I ended up getting an offer for $29.99(5?) for a year.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing! Good to know!

    • C D

Thank you, Freckle (and Collin for the original post). I’ve been paying $8/month but I went to cancel and got the $29.95 for the year! My 6yo loves this program. I need to try it again with my 3yo.

      • Freckle53

Yay! I tried it for my nearly 4 year old. He’s a little into it, but not enough that I’d pay $50/yr. $30 was much more palatable.

We use abcya.com Our boys really like it. It was actually our Kindergartener that asked us to get it as they use it in school. It teaches phonics, math, spelling and so much more! Probably similar to abcmouse.com

    • Tasia

Abcya is another great site. My kids love it!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Cool! Thanks for the suggestion!

  7. Tasia

My children love ABC Mouse! It was very helpful in preparing them both for school. They have so many great learning activities & make learning fun. My kids learned so much from this site. It is worth it!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy to hear how helpful it was! Thanks for sharing your experience!

  9. Sara

So if you purchase this yearly subscription can you log in from any computer? Thanks for the help?

    • MrsFelix1004

Yes with your user name and password.

  10. MrsFelix1004

This is awesome for kids. Check with your school system because they might provide you with your child’s name and password they use at school. I know we use that in our kindergarten class in Knoxville, TN. We absolutely love this program. Don’t rely solely on this to teach your kid because they will loose interest just like any other app if you don’t encourage them or reward them for using it.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great tip! Thanks for sharing!

I signed up for a free trial and while my 4 year old really enjoyed it and I could see the potential in the program, I chose not to subscribe because it took SO much data to run the program. I don’t have unlimited data, so that was a huge issue for me. Just thought I’d mention that in case there is anyone else left out there who doesn’t have unlimited data in their home. πŸ™‚

    • Happymama

Thank you! We may try the free trial and see for an upcoming family trip, but we also have a teen that drains all the data out of the plan LOL

      • Amy

The only reason I am hesitating to get it is because you must be connected to wifi in order to use it πŸ™ I was hoping to get it for a multi-day road trip we have coming up, but if it won’t work without wifi I can’t do it πŸ™

    When does this deal end?

    • Doreen

      July 4th

  13. Jenn

My daughter is now too old (8) but she used to love this site.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear she enjoyed it Jenn! Thanks for sharing!

We have abcmouse and both my 5 year old and 7 year old use it and can have their separate users and avatar and can be on different levels. Both of my kids love it. It has a “learning path” which you set at a level, and it keeps progressing and getting harder as they go. My daughter has gotten almost through a whole grade level this last school year. There are also separate areas they can go to read, play games, have pets, decorate rooms, do puzzles, listen to songs, watch videos, etc. You also earn tickets with every activity and can use them to buy things like new clothes for your avatar, decorations for rooms, etc. I think that it is a good mix of educational content and fun. Lots of bonuses and activities to keep them engaged. I think that it is worth the $45 for a year for sure!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the awesome review Ashley! Super helpful to know! πŸ˜‰

is this accessible on mobile? I do have limited data plan so wondering if it can be used offline

    • Amy

I’m wondering the same thing. It appears ( in a previous comment) that it uses your data up if you dont have unlimited access.

      • tamlc

This program is web based and you must be online to use it. I would recommend having it on a home computer or tablet where you have access to the web or unlimited wifi.
