As an amateur photographer that wants to go pro at some point, I bought this printer a few months ago with the same deal and it’s amazing! The prints are fantastic quality and can’t be distinguished from professional prints with the right settings/papers (paper can be expensive…). However, it is a very large printer. Be sure to look over the measurements and have the space available because it is wide and feels quite heavy for it’s size. Otherwise, this is a steal and the rebate process was efficient and easy (I think I got mine back 3 weeks after sending).

      Is the ink expensive?

      • Amy h

Terribly. Just do the deal again next year, and Donate the old printer.

        • Faith

That’s a good idea…do they run it each year? I know the rebate says only one rebate per product per household, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat for the ink lol.

You can get ink really cheap via deals posted here…I have this same printer and I have used comboink.com and one other that Collin posted (can’t remember name) to get it crazy cheap. I paid something like 20% of what the cost was at Staples.

Happy to hear how great it works! Thanks for the amazing feedback! Good to know!

Is it real? The deal looks so good!!!thank you!

    • Amy h

Quite real. Did this deal last year, and printed all our Christmas cards…very professional. It is giant though.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It is real! 😉 You’re welcome!

Has anyone used this for regular (non photo) printing? Does it work on normal paper? Does it eat tons of ink?

    • Faith

Yes, but as expensive as it is to get ink I wouldn’t use it for everyday printing. Honestly, I’d wait until Black Friday and get a good deal on a laser printer for everyday stuff or couponing (the coupons seem to scan better when printed on a laser printer anyway). (Also, I have a color laser printer and buy a 5-pack of toner on Amazon for $55, 2 blacks and one of each 3 colors and it lasts a looong time!)

      • Toni

What brand of laser printer do you recommend? My HP printer just quit printing and we need another one soon!!! We use it for at home printing coupons and homework.

        • Shana

Our hp quit too! They sent me a replacement and that one lasted a day and had to be returned, the one they sent us now prints so slow and stalls on each page. Not sure what the deal is with the model we have. Thought hp were supposed to be really good

    • Angela

I use it for all of my normal printing; I’ve only printed photos once. It works awesome! No, it doesn’t blast through ink (I do use the draft setting when I don’t need perfect quality, but honestly even the draft setting looks amazing). I buy ink via the deals Collin posts on here, and it is cheap! HTH

Also, does it work with a Chromebook?

From a photographer’s standpoint, this is an excellent printer. I just purchased one last November with the $250 back but it was originally $399, so there is a killer deal! The ink alone runs you $100+ and this includes full inks. It creates stunning, vibrant images up to 13×19. Watch out, this thing is GINORMOUS. We’re talking two people need to carry it big, especially when it’s in the shipping box. If you are looking for an everyday printer for just normal printing, I wouldn’t get this because of the size and price of ink. But, if you are looking to process some of your photos into pieces of artwork, then this is it!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the helpful review Alicia!

  6. Artemis

Mine stopped working after about a yr. Anyone know if there is a company that buys back high priced printers? tia

  7. Angela

Just realized mine is not the “pro” version, so it’s possible that ink for this one is different than ink for the one I have (sorry–the picture looked exactly the same!). But still–using the sites Collin posts got me ink for something like 20% of Staples cost. So if you are considering this printer but are worried about the ink cost, check those sites first to see if they carry cartridges for this one.

  8. Jeni

Price has gone up to $399.99 unless there is a code I need to enter.

    • Kate

No code… The price changes. I’ve been debating so I looked earlier 😞

      • Jeni

        OK. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bummer! Looks like the deal has ended 🙁 Thanks for the heads up!

  9. Susi

I get refills for my canon off amazon. Work as well as the originals and I more than 75% cheaper

Call bhphoto phone sales – I just got an email confirmation for my phone order $299.99 final price and when I send in the rebate it will make it $49.99
