I did the 25% off school supplies when you buy a backpack deal at Staples.com with coupon code 65639, but it turns out that if you are buying a school supply that is discounted, you’ll get the 25% off of the REGULAR online price! For instance, I bought a pack of wide-ruled paper (120/pack) which were on sale for $0.75 each (reg. $1.99). It then discounted it another $0.50 – which made it only $0.25!
Two items ended up being free – the Staples composition notebooks and the Westcott 12″ wooden ruler. The composition notebooks are regularly $3.29 each, so 25% off that is $0.82. The sale price is $0.50 which makes it free! The ruler is regularly $1.49 each, so 25% off that is $0.37. The sale price is $0.25 which makes it free!
A few other great deals were Staples #2 pencils 12 pk for $0.31, Staples washable glue sticks 4 pk for $0.38, and Staples school glue 4 oz for $0.13.

This deal may be regional. The Walmart stores near me are still pricing the washable Crayola markers at around $2.99 so not a great deal. But, the regular broad Crayola markers are priced at .97 near me.

Oh Mylanta! THANK YOU for posting about the sweet online deal with Staples and the backpack + 25% off. I have been needing something to carry my new laptop in, to and from school, and I had been looking at backpacks. I was able to score a laptop backpack for $31.39 aaannndddd EIGHTY school supplies for just $5.38!! My students use composition notebooks like crazy. I was able to score 40 of those (ten of each color) for free. I got 12pks of Staples mechanical pencils for 5¢ each, 100ct 3×5 notecards for 10¢, notebook paper for 25¢ per pack, and poly folders for 12¢! So stoked! This lets me have some extra supplies on hand so my students don’t have to purchase as much.

I am a teacher & LOVE, LOVE, LOVE school deals, so am super happy to see these! But, can I please encourage parents who are sending pencils to school to hold out for the Ticonderoga pencil deals? I have been teaching for 15 years & have yet to find an off brand pencil that lasts, even with trying different pencil sharpeners. I promise teachers will be so happy & will be asking for less pencils later if you buy quality ones now. THANKS from me & all of my teacher friends
As a teacher, I agree! We always have parents that complain about the expensive school lists and I totally understand but some things are just worth the extra money. For example, Crayola brand crayons over the rose art! Please pay the extra quarter…it’s SO Worth it as they last for much longer!!!
Yes, my son’s back to school list asks only for Ticonderoga pencils. That’s the only brand we buy anymore!

Last year during “tax free day” We shopped at Dollar tree because we heard store were jacking up the prices. I got school supplies for three kids for around $20. I plan on doing this again.
