Mark your calendar! Best Buy is making some updates to the My Best Buy Member program starting August 28th.

Although Best Buy members currently receive 1 point for every $1 spent, you will only receive 0.5 points for every $1 spent starting 8/28. And remember —> for every 250 My Best Buy points you receive, you will be eligible to receive a $5 reward certificate.

According to the update, My Best Buy members will also be able to score free 2-Day shipping (with no annual fee) on thousands of items sold on BestBuy.com. However, this is no mention about whether you need to meet a certain minimum (currently $35) or whether this free shipping will require no minimum purchase.

You can head here and join My Best Buy for free if you are not yet a member.

Thanks, Annette!

I’m confused…. this is what they do now, only there’s a minimum of $ 35.00 before you get free shipping. Are they doing away w/ the minimum ? It doesn’t say on their site….. if they’re doing away w/ the minimum, that would be awesome. I know that we’ve stopped ordering from Best Buy, unless we can pick up in store. It’s easier to order from Amazon. But this could be a good thing for Christmas shopping…..

Companies are just getting cheaper and cheaper with their perks. .5 points? Really? :/

If you use your Best Buy rewards credit card you’ll get 5 points per $1 according to the email I got last night. Uh no – I try to pay in cash. Best Buy will just no longer be an option in my household.

I purposely buy new movies, video games, the occasional cd at best buy solely foe the rewards points. NOW it will take double the time to get a measly $5 coupon? No thanks i will not be shopping at best buy anymore. Not worth spending $500 for $5 certificate after the change

I feel like all the major companies have committed to cutting down on any way to save.
    Walmart stopped price matching,
Target has also cracked down on price matching and using store coupons, the office max rewards felt like much of a scheme
Sad year for bargain hunters 🙁
