Didn’t this used to be free?

    • Erin

Yup. With cute little makeup bags! Then it was $5, $7, now $10. I keep wondering when people will stop buying these. Oh well. Someone’s gotta fund Target’s profits so I can continue getting smoking deals. 😉

  2. Tamara

I don’t recall them being free.. however, the price does keep going up on them!

    • Jennine

They were free 3 years ago 😊

  3. Dee

$10 😡 it’s a trick to get you to buy the stuff without coupons. Call them “sample boxes” and charge $10 😡 I can get mascara and lipstick free/cheap with coupons!!!!

    • Dee

And lip balm and biore 😡

    • Randee

Right? I can’t believe they are charging 10 bucks for a “sample” box

  4. Josie P

I use to love this boxes but I keep getting the same samples I was not using second month I won’t be getting one! It’s getting over priced too! But thank you for posting!

    • Erin

Hi Collin. I’ve noticed the comments are cutting off when posted, like this one. It’s happened to me. I write a full post but not all of it will actually show up.

      • Katie

        Yes, I’ve noticed that too.

        • Josie P

Yes I have notice that too

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bummer! 🙁 Sorry to hear that! Thanks for your honest review!

  5. Lynn

Ohhh, this looks like a good one! Got one!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad you could snag one Lynn! 😉

  6. Ariel

Would buy at $7 NOT $10

    • Art

Ahhh the days of 2012 couponing. It’s just not the same. Speed up to 2016 and we are PAYING for “SAMPLES”.

    • Dawn

Ha Redgoldfish for finding that oldie, but goodie! I still have that bag. Really 2012? I’ve been with Hip2Save for a long time! Thanks Collin for the post, I can’t resist a Target Beauty Box, $10 or not! 💗

    • Mourrene

Oh wow! I still have that bag! I don’t know…it seems that the days of really good freebies are over. I don’t mind paying up to $10 for the box…I just have so many samples from birch box, target, and other places that I no longer need to buy anything for a while. I still might get this box though for the coconut conditioner. Also, I think people should tell express their concerns to target directly. Who knows? It might make a difference.

    • Patti

      Oh wow I s

  7. Jessica

I love Target Beauty Boxes. I live in a small town where the nearest Target is over two hours away. Even though they are sometimes more expensive, it’s fun for me to get to sample products that are out of reach with having a bit of a drive with two kids and unable to make a “quick run” to Target…our “quick run” takes an entire day! Something for me to look forward to! 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy to hear you enjoy these boxes Jessica! Thanks for sharing!

  8. K3llyb

The mascara has terrible reviews and the baking soda wash seems too strong for my skin type. I’m going to pass but I do appreciate you get to know what the samples are versus ipsy and birchbox which are also 10 and mostly a mystery.

  9. Claire

My email says this box is a $40 value. I disagree.

    • Mel

Well, lets see.. (going by Target.com prices)
      S. W. Basics Organic Lip Balm – $5
Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream – a full jar costs $32, I’m not sure what size this will be, so let’s say $12?
      Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick – $6.99
      Maybelline Volum’ – $7.49
Eden BodyWorks Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner – a full jar costs $8.39, and this is a packet, so $3?
Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser – full size costs $5.99, so the trial size might be valued $2.50? (That’s about that price at cvs & rite aid for the charcoal cleanser trial size)
OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo or Conditioner – full size $5.99 for 12 oz and this is a 3 oz sample, so $1.50
      That’s a bit over $38

Possible the Laneige is valued $15 and the trial sizes valued less, would be right at $40. So you can think of it like this – You’re paying $10 for the Laneige and getting everything else free. Which IMHO seems fairly reasonable, esp since it’s products I already use (OGX, Biore, Rimmel lip) or would like to try (S.W. Lip balm, Eden & Laneige).

      • Claire

Um maybe I should have added “in my opinion”

        • Mel

I wasn’t being rude, I was curious myself as I didn’t think it was a $40 value either!

  10. April

Was thinking of getting one but the items pictured can’t possibly total a $40 value. I’m torn.

    • Carla

Eh, I don’t think that most of the products included are that great, actually.

  11. Candy

Not that popular today, eh, I myself won’t be paying $10 for this.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Sorry to hear that Candy! Thanks for the honest feedback!

  12. Chilenitatx

I have gotten this and the Walmart box ($5) and walmart’s it’s hands down the best choice.

    • Mel

What do you search for the Walmart box? I’ve never seen one before.

      • Kristen

Just go to Walmart.com, and type Beauty Box in the search bar.

    • Sharon

Thanks! I bought both the Target one and the Walmart one!

  13. Mel

Love these!!! Got mine, thank you for posting!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You are SO welcome! 🙂

  14. Kristen

Any idea why they’re only limiting to one this time?

    • Trudy

Because they want to gauge how many will actually spend $10 for “samples” ….then hit us with $12 boxes next time.

    • Maya

This is at the bottom of the page: “In order for more of our guests to enjoy the Fall Beauty Box, there will be a purchase limit of 1 box per order.”

      • Beverly

Hope this is a one time thing of only letting you get one. I usually order two, one for me and one for my daughter. I passed on this one because of price and products:-(

  15. Sammie

Survey says only 2 out of 14 people will actually buy this high priced “sample” box. Survey says it’s a waste of money.

  16. Sherry

The laniege cream is expensive so that’s why the value might be $40 although I’m not sure what size the sample is. I got this because I’ve wanted to try laneige products. Thanks for posting Collin!!

    • Josie P

Lol really I could have just mail you one! They always put them in the beauty box. It’s like a quarter size lol

    • Tharen

I love the Laniege line! I only discovered it because of these boxes. The sample lasted me awhile, enough to figure out it worked for my skin. Hope you like it!

    • luckymeyay

Josie, I could have mailed you one, too. I wish we had a section where we could trade the samples we don’t use with each other.

  17. Ashley

I’m gonna have to pass this time. I got that mascara in a past box and it is horrible. Maybe if it was $7….

  18. Kate

Not for me it doesn’t seem like a good value. Shampoo or conditioner? Really

  19. Tami

I do enjoy the Target beauty boxes and they come with a coupon that I have used on future purchases. I am, however, torn because they used to be $7 and $10 seems a little too much.

  20. Betsy Schrader

I used to be to love buying these for myself as a monthly treat. But they keep upping the price and the quality are not as great- for example who needs a new mascara every month>? Seems that they keep putting one in now. They used to include hair ties, loofahs, etc.

    • Lisa

I used to love getting their boxes but it’s just seems boring with shampoo samples and always getting mascaras.Definitely not going to spend $10 on this.

      • Carla

And it seems like they keep including a lot of the same brands repeatedly; I’d like to see some different ones.

  21. Kelly

I love these boxes! I travel often for my job and use the samples I have gotten every trip. It’s a great way to try new products. Through these boxes I have found products I love and now purchase regularly.

    • Mourrene

That’s why I like the sample boxes too–cause it’s so much easier to use for travel. So much easier to pack and use.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear you have found some items from these boxes that you like! Thanks for sharing!

  22. Sarah

I’ve been meaning to buy more mascara anyway so to pay $10 for a full size product plus get other goodies with it is fine with me. I did prefer when they were only $5 or $7 but for something I was going to buy anyway, I don’t mind the $10.

  23. tamorale

I really like target beauty boxes. Ive never missed buying one until now. Ive spent more than 10 bucks on these, but thats because i bought more than one. I agree with eveyone here. They keep getting more and more overpriced for the same exact things.😕 this unfortunately will be a first time pass for me.

  24. Lisa

Do you think it would make a difference if we voice our opinion to Target regarding quality and price? I haven’t bought boxes in months because of this and I would love to continue to getting them.

  25. C

They cost the same as Birchbox. I was actually interested in this one and snagged it! Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome! YW!

    • Bree

But birchbox has high end products. Target boxes have drug store products.

  26. Lynn

In my opinion, it is a very good value considering you were not paying for shipping and that some of the products are full-size. In this day, you can’t expect things for free anymore. If you don’t want it, don’t get it. These boxes are great for trying it before you buy it!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the great review Lynn!

  27. KItz

I miss those good old days that they cost $5-7 per box. If all of them are full size the $10 is worth it.

  28. lindak

I work in a department where we have about 15 college age student assistants. Recently I took all of the Target samples I wasn’t going to use (from about 6 boxes) to work and they were gone within 2 days. So, I feel OK about spending the money, because I might not use every item, but someone else will. I may put a comment on their Facebook page though because $10 is getting up there in price.

  29. Haseena

I always felt like these boxes were not worth the price and I think after the Free ones stopped I only bought one when they were $5. It’s nice to see I am no longer alone, this post is usually all about everyone buying these, but not today. Maybe target will take notice and stop raising the price.

  30. rn30032

Why can’t it have the shampoo and conditioner…that is silly to make you choose one

    • Erin

Well, then the price would be $15–BUT a whopping $50 value!!!!

  31. Dee

    Everyone has so much to
Say about this post 😂😂LOL (so much feelings today) – It’s ok everyone no need to get all riled up. For those of you you bought it…yay! Hope you enjoy! 👍🏼

  32. Malinda

I think it’s still s good value when it had items you like and you don’t have a coupon. It has my mascara this month, which would cost me $7-8 plus the chance to try some other stuff.

  33. Tiffany

I bought it. I actually thought the box looked pretty good this month. I am loving the Laneige brand.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh awesome! Glad you could snag this one Tiffany!

  34. Kelly

The price is high, but for my college girls they love getting this in the.mail and it is cheaper than me mailing a goodie box of food.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Super cool you can mail this one to them Kelly! 😉 Thanks for sharing!

  35. Mey

Thanks, I got one. My girls loves these boxes.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy to hear that! You’re so welcome!

  36. maggie

The Rimmel lipstick (The Only One in Naughty Nude) is outstanding–it wears better than high-end brands from Sephora. This shade is oh-so-flattering on pale skin tones too–it’s honestly one of the best nude shades I’ve found, and I like it better than tubes I spent upwards of $20 for.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Glad to hear how nice that shade of lipstick is! Thanks for sharing Maggie!

  37. Paige

This is still available at 5 pm, that says something. Listen to your customers, Target! $10 is too much IMO. I feel these boxes should be $5-7, seeing as they are given the samples by the companies.

  38. Marie

I’ll be passing on this one. $5 was great. $7 was um, well ok. $10 is a no.

    • Karen

      My thoughts exactly…

  39. Sandee Webb

I buy these and send to my daughter direct at college. She loves getting little surprises in the mail. $9.50 shipped with my red card!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How sweet! Glad you could send her one!

  40. golden012

Collin, thank you for always telling us about the Target boxes. Two years ago, they had a box with ‘male’ toiletries…I added a few things, and gave it to a nephew headed to college. He loved it!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Super glad to hear he enjoyed it! You are SO welcome! 🙂

  41. Bethany

If anyone is interested in other boxes, the Sephora one is great ($10/month).

    • Kristen

Great advice Bethany! It says their subscriptions are all full now. 🙁 So hopefully one becomes available soon!

  42. emulvey2001

FYI – If you do opt to order, they come in great, sturdy boxes. I opted use spray adhesive and cover them in a fun fabric and use as storage boxes. Just a little DIY reduce/reuse/recycle idea! 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

What a creative idea! Thanks for sharing!
