Check your local Base Exchange for summer kids’ clearance up to 90% off the original price! My exchange had racks and racks of clothes from newborn thru size 18, including outfit combos as low as $2.96. I found several shirts as cheap as $1.96 and the exchange is tax-free!

What is military base exchange? ???

    • Kareen

Use to be called the PX or BX? (Aafes) Now they just call them the Exchange. Its basically a department store or small shopping mall in some cases located on military instillations.

U have to be in military to buy items and how do I find 1 in my are

    • Kareen

You have to be military ID card holder that includes dependants and retirees. You can also shop with someone who has an ID. I think just about all instillations have an exchange. Their website is shopmyexchange.com

      • dariela

For a civilian to shop on base they would need to give cash to the person with an idea I believe it is still they can’t shop on base

Colin, I know you mean well in posting deals for military bases but each time you post them inevitably there are civilians who want the deals and are eager to figure out a way to get them. And these deals aren’t open to the public. They are for veterans and active duty personnel and their families only as part of their benefits and they know when the PX has a sale. I think it would be best not to post PX deals to avoid confusion and people trying to cheat the system.

    • Rochelle

I disagree. We have base entitlements and I rarely shop at the PX so I’m thankful when she posts these deals so I can take advantage of them! There are plenty of deals that only apply to certain categories of consumers so as always, if this deal isn’t something you can take advantage of, simply go to the next post! Just one of the many reasons I love hip2save…there’s something for EVERYONE! 🙂

I am an army brat. My father is a veteran and my mother still shops at the PX and commissary regularly. Because she uses her benefits, she knows about the deals when they happen. I am a civilian but only once I graduated college. I was only speaking to my experience in what I have seen with these posts over the years. I have seen several of the military posts commented on by civilians trying to figure out how they can get the deals and how to call someone to take advantage of something for themselves. Or on some even getting angry that they can’t take advantage of the military benefits. I didn’t mean any harm in my comment, only posing an opinion from my observations over the years.

I love this site. I’m an active duty service member the person who told me about the site is a Vet. I know you have a military following. Please continue to post military deals. With the kids, work and husbands we often miss the deals that are right at our doorstep. Thanks for your support.

      • M

I love the site too. I am the daughter of a veteran and my point was in respecting what they have earned.

        • Kareen

I understood your point. No offense taken. 🙂

    • Kelly

My husband is active duty and we live on base and I love seeing these deals on here! I know where I’ll be tomorrow while the kids are in school. Thanks for all you do, Colin and Crew!

It was while DH was still AD that we found H2S and it was while shopping at the commissary I would get asked how to find deals and I always directed them to this site. I haven’t had base privileges since DH got out a few years ago but when I see these posts I know I can pass the info along to those who I know are still AD, and its appreciated. As far as people trying to “cheat” the system… its REALLY difficult to do unless you know someone who can shop there and even then its no different then when I used to take visiting family to the exchange.

      • M

I am the daughter of a lifer veteran, an army brat. I was speaking to what I have seen on this site when these are posted. It is difficult to cheat but I have seen so many on here people try to think of that third cousin they can call to get the deal.

    • Karianne

I love seeing the military deals as well! Thank you.

    • Joyce

Please continue to post military deals. Thank you so much for your support of military personnel, veterans and their families!

    • Army

Join the military then you can use them too..

      • M

I think my post was misread or something. I don’t desire to have the deals for veterans. My father is a lifer, combat veteran. I am an army brat. I want their benefits to be respected. I’ve seen so many people when these are posted, try to figure who they can call to get the deal they don’t deserve. That’s all.

I was just there today and found a ton of under armour! Also a lot of navy clothes at the NEX I was able to get some Christmas shopping done!

  5. graciousstore

This military base exchange for kids clothes must be very helpful for young military families. It will save them a lot of money on kids clothes

    • Kareen

In my opinion it tends to be on the expensive side so I rarely go. I find better deals normally in department stores. However their company does put a portion of their earnings back into the military community every year so I try to support sometimes

  6. Ami

My fiancé and I shop there every time we are near one as we don’t have any bases close to us. There is a real nice one in the Orlando area that is a Navy exchange. We usually go there on Black Friday and for certain things if we are close by since we have family in the area. For regular everyday shopping, like Kareen said, there are much better deals at department stores unless you are buying cosmetics or perfumes or certain items from the sale ads and those aren’t always the best deals either.

  7. saving4vacation

Thank you for post this.. my husband is active duty , and any kind of saving would help my family.
