Just giving some input on hp computers or laptops. Do not buy them. Buy another brand. Look into it. Just don’t get ho. They don’t last and are worth nothing

      What brand fo you suggest?

      • Laura

Apple! All the way!! you pay a lot more up front – but they are awesome!

I have had positive experiences with both HP and Apple computers. We have been buying them for decades for home and business purposes. However, I would avoid Dell at all costs. For recommendations, you could check Consumer Reports and CNet.

Most others are ok. Dell is high up on the list. I would go with ones that don’t use a lithium battery. Hp has a bad rap with their computers just not working anymore. My brothers had even caught on fire. With any laptops you don’t want to keep them plugged in all the time. I would do research for yourself though for what you need it for. Apple is expensive because of the name. It’s not that special. Or when you talk to people at best buy they really don’t suggest what computer is suited better for what you want.they just want sales

I was issued a HP Spectre laptop (earlier model of the laptop in the post) at my last job and it was a great lightweight laptop. I had it for almost 4 years before I left for another job three months ago and it was still going strong. When it comes to computers, you get what you pay for. Instead of focusing on the brand you should really focus on whether the specs meet your computing needs.

Not necessarily. I bought a high end Dell a few years ago and the darn thing was constantly overhearing and shutting down. My sister had the same problem with her HP.

Personally, I hate everything apple. They are not universal and pay way more for the exact same specs as most other brands. Currently, apple is ranked #1 for laptops but over the last few years they have been decreasing in points that contribute to that rank. They are a fad. Let me start by saying I build my own computer so I look at specs and quality over a brand name. I regularly follow pc blogs and one of those is laptopmag.com which posts a yearly review of computer companies. On here they show apple is nearly the worst for value and selection. In 2nd place is Dell. I realize there have been bad experiences posted above with Dell and you will have that with every brand. I have a laptop I bought 8 years ago that still performs top notch and it’s a Dell. My youngest son uses it now. Dell ranks the highest along with Lenova for value and selection. The downside to Dell is their customer support..Communication barriers. ASUS and Lenova are fastly growing in the laptop and parts word. I am continuously amazed by the way Lenova is growing and their product selection. As such, you see these 2 brands have seen the largest leaps over the past 2 years. Lenova and Asus both hold top spots in best ranking college student laptops on a budget. Asus has a top ranking Chromebook in that spot as well. While Dell does have a Chromebook in the lower range of top 19 Chromebooks it’s the value of getting it $99 during peak sales that boosts its appeal. Asus is a brand I consider when purchasing computer hardware. MSi coming in 5th is fastly growing for its true gaming products. They are pricey. But you often don’t sacrifice one key element for another. They look sharp. However, you can build a system with the same specs for a 3rd of the price. HP comes in 6th. What can I say about HP other than I’ve avoided this brand for the past 15 years. HP is known for endless bloatware and some may think you can just reformate to basic windows to remove bloatware. That would be fine if the Windows version that came with the comp was a true Windows version. However, it’s not. Or it didn’t use to be. You would have to buy your own. Windows key to wipe the slate clean with HP. But it’s been a while… Years…Since I’ve done any work on HP. I’ve not allowed anyone I know to buy the brand. Maybe it’s may improvements but HP is truly a brand for the very casual beginner in the PC world. I, personally, would never consider this brand for anything more than basic casual use so it’s hard for me to justify more than $200 on anything HP. Microsoft, Acer, Samsung, and Toshiba come in 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively. It’s really disappointing to see Acer ranked so poorly when they currently hold the best budget Chromebook. Acer is a brand I often buy for accessories and internal hardware. Their parts are dependable and quality and value are something I have always linked with Acer. Samsung is better known for phones and tablets then other computer parts. I recommend researching each individual product you consider and look at their specs for overall value. You can goggle the listed gpu or CPU and see it’s tested performance ratings. This will tell you more about the value of the comp than anything.
