Anyone have experience with these printers? Do they use a lot of ink?

  2. Sue

I would like to know if these are good too. Anyone use the generic ink with cannon printers?

    • Amy

I was in the market for a printer and just purchased this! I also purchased the remanufactured ink for $17. I’ve always used this kind of ink and never had any issues so far!

I’ve been using Canon Pixmas for years now. I’m not sure how different the regular canons are but I can’t imagine all that much. I don’t think I’ll ever stray from them. I’ve had about 5 different models now. Only 2 died, but they had each printed 1,000’s and 1,000’s of coupons. The other 2 were passed on and I currently have a nice all in one. The absolute best part…I pick up the set of 5 cartridges (2 black, 1 magenta, 1 yellow and 1 cyan) for about $5!!! This last time I bought 15 cartridges for $12.00!! I paid $39 for this one, marked down from like $80. I’d highly recommend at least checking this one out.

Jen, where do you buy the ink?

    • Annie

Hi Jen – where did you purchase the ink from?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for such helpful feedback Jen!

    • Ric

Yes Jen I second and third that question. Where did you get the ink from that cheap?

I have the Canon printer too and I have no issues with it. Bonus is their customer service who are very helpful and is based here and not in another country. I’d also like to know where you purchased your ink for $5.

Thank you so much for posting this! Just bought this after my really lame printer just crashed on me this morning. Perfect timing.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy you could score this one as a replacement! You’re most welcome Julie!

I have a canon pixma MG5220 that I’ve had for years and I only pay $5 for my ink. Actually less than that most times. I get it from Amazon. Right now they have a 10 pack of the ink I need (which is 2 of each color ) for $6.84. It’s generic but I haven’t had a problem.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks for sharing Kendra!

I have the same model. Would you mind sharing the seller from Amazon please? TIA

Where is everyone purchasing ink for $5 or even $10? I have a Canon printer and they do work great and it hasn’t broken down. But the ink it so expensive, even the generic ink was expensive. That is why printers are so reasonably priced. The manufacturer knows they will make lots of money on ink.

i have an older canon all in one, and currently use ink from Inkfarm.com and or comboink.com
i pay maybe $5 per, or bundles $30 for 5.
i usually also check retailmenot for discount codes and am on their email list. Often inkfarm has promotions so compare!

I have had 3 Canon printers, currently using the MX920 and the MG5500. They take the exact same ink cartridges, 1 for each color, and I get them on Amazon for about $1 a piece with free shipping. I haven’t had any trouble with these generic cartridges and minimal problems with the printers. They generally do a very good job.
