I have this playset and have for about 4 years. If I could go back I would never have bought it. The playset it rated for only 100 lbs total. So all the children playing on it can’t weigh more than 100 lbs put together. It is only for toddlers. Technically my 8 and 4 year old shouldn’t be on it at the same time. Try telling kids when they have their friends over that you have a crappy playset and not all of them can be on it together. Trust me watching that beam twist when they swing is scary. We are going to replace it this year with real lumber not cheap little pieces of cedar. Lots of free playset plans are available online.

Agreed. We bought a similar set from samsclub so I’m sure they are basically the same. After one year the wood weathered so poorly and it all became white. Luckily samsclub allowed us to return it because we paid $1500 for it. I would tell everyone to stay clear and as you said make their own with available plans.

We have this same one, got it when my daughter was 3. We have had it 8 years and Ours has held up well for 3 kids and 8 years of play. We dont usually have more than our 3 on it at once. We have sealed the wood once or twice

Awesome to hear how well it has held up through the years Heather! Thanks so much for the review!

I bought the Oakmont when it went on clearance for $179. The wood is thin, like the pp stated, but I’m glad I bought it when I did. I would have definitely been upset if I had paid the full $600 though!.

It’s a great set for my 2 yo but it wouldn’t accommodate a bunch of bigger kids. The wood creeks when I’m up there with him and we are a max of 170 lb together.

It was really simple to put together though! There are a TON of pieces but they’re easy to find once sorted. It comes with a bit for your drill and because the wood is soft and thin, it makes it a snap to put together.

Overall it looks nice (probably does need to be sealed and then stained annually though – mine looked a bit faded after 6 mos) and was a good value at clearance price. I’d only recommend it if your kids are under 5 probably.

Good to know yours was easy to put together! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I’m going to add be careful too. We bought a slightly different one, one with the little bench, and its 3 year old now. For the almost $400 we paid, I really regret it. I should have bought a metal one. It creaks, is wobbly, two boards have split, its flimsy and a year later was an ugly grayish color. The little bench is rotting and its kind of past the point of sealing to protect it, but we paid so much don’t want to get rid of it. I worry about my kids swinging more than about 2 feet high, and wonder how long it will last.

Darn! Sorry to hear it is not holding up well πŸ™

We had this set, and it didn’t make it a year. But we do live in the northern NV desert and I think the elements were just too much for it. So def factor in where you live and the climate before purchasing.

Good tip Steph! Thanks for sharing!

We bought Oakmont set for $150 in October -Nov and payed $300 for installation and I regret so much. It creaks and looks weak. I had only two kids play at a time still looks like might break any time

    • Hannah (Sensational Sidekick)

Sorry to hear that, Luna! Thanks for your honest review.
