  18 inch for girl 16 for boy. I just bought my 7 and 8 year old 20 inch because the 18 is too small.

  My son is a tall almost 6yo and the 20″ was too large for him. We are going with an 18″ – also most 20″ do not have pedal brakes, only handle brake.
