To buy now or not to buy now. Wondering if these will go cheaper on cyber Monday. Looking to buy two kid fires. How do I find when those two-fer prices end? Can’t find it anywhere on their website.

    • Beth

I have the same problem! I’m going to risk waiting till Monday I think :/

    • Kim

Don’t wait $30 is the lowest the fire has gone… last year I believe it was $35 they are worth it!

    • CJ

Agreed, you should buy now. I’ve bought one around black Friday the last few years as my kids have gotten old enough for them & always paid $35.

  3. Stephmom24

Are these the same as a kindle?

    • heather

Yes, they are a kindle with internet capability. So…better imo. We have 6 in our house haha.

  4. Momof3

    What happend to amanda?

      Thanks for sharing Lynn!

I got 4 of these during this deal last year for my 4 kids and I can honestly say that they are junk! They were not heavily used and they didn’t even last 6 months.

    • Jessica

Did you get the regular tablet or the kids version?

    • Tiffany Mo

I bought 2 last Black Friday and ours are phenomenal. I haven’t had one problem at all and they use them all the time!!

    • heather

We have 6 in our house and they’re great. I would call customer service if you had issues.

  7. Mamasweetpea

Kids received theirs as a gift last holiday season and they enjoy using them. We normally limit screen time for our children but times when they are allowed, they really enjoy their kindles for reading, downloading/playing apps, etc. We do have Amazon prime account but I also researched online and know there are things that can be done to “enhance” their basic kindle…I just haven’t gotten around to it. Overall, it has been great especially at this pricepoint

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Glad to hear you have been pleased with them!

  8. Alison

These tablets are awful and very slow. I bought 2 last year and my son wouldn’t use it.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh bummer! So sorry to hear that! Thanks for the honest feedback Alison!

My nieces have the regular version of the Kindle nd they love them. They are 6 and 4. They enjoy playing games on theirs. Didn’t realize there were so many games for Kindle. They aren’t the fastest devices but buying a memory card seemed to help with performance.

  10. Lindsey

I’m not sure why everyone is saying these tablets are bad? We LOVE them!! My kids have used them for yrs. The most recent ones we bought 2yrs ago and they’re still going great. They play movies and games just fine, not slow. With a case they are sturdy and I’ve never had one crack (even with s toddler using it). I would recommend to anyone! For the price, if it did ever break it would be ok (unlike some other high priced tablets that are hard to replace)

    • Sandy

Agreed! My kids have had Kindles for years and they’ve loved them. No lag issues, but we’ve added memory cards just for extra space. They prefer their Kindles to the iPad. Would definitely recommend!

    • T

Do you know what cases you have had luck with by chance?

      • Tiffany Mo

I bought really cheap cases and they are the best!! Been using for 2 years with rough kids. They are the foam ones with the fold down handle and stand. They were like $6 each from China or something lol. I swear I’ll never buy another case for the Kindles!

      • BrendaB

We got Fintie cases for 3 of our kindles. Mine held up fine (I’m careful with it.) My boys’ cases really showed the wear & tear over time (They’re NOT as careful. 🙂 ) Moko cases have good reviews & I’m going to try these this time around.

    • heather

Agreed! We all have kindles in our house, and they are not slow. I actually prefer to use my kindle because it seems to download faster than my laptop. I am married to a cable guy though who solves any wireless issues.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sweet! Thanks a bunch for the great review! Good to know how well they have held up!

  11. Diana

We have 2 5th gen bought in 2015. It sounds like these are similar. They are not perfect but the warranty has been great and it has held up for 2 years. The reason my kids use ours is the freetime app. I was going to pay for the freetime subscription when I realized that it wouldn’t cost much more to just buy new ones with the freetime included for the year! My kids mostly use this in the car and I love that download apps work.

  12. Jill

Should you get a regular kindle or kids kindle for your kiddos? What’s the differnce?

    • Lindsey

I’ve always bought the regular ones and then bought a case. Never had any issues no matter age of child. 2-9yrs. You can still pay for the kid subscription service if you wanted, but between the free apps and netflix we never did.

      • Dealzgurl

Yup…that’s what I do too. Just bought a third regular kindle with the kids case with the handle. The other two have held up very well and the kids love theirs. . The soon to be three year old will finally have her own tablet!

    • Tiffany Mo

The kids Kindle is just a regular Kindle but comes with the warrenty, free time (which is great) and a case (I like the other cases with the handle and stand instead) but for the price of the kids edition you’re getting way more bang for your buck.

    • heather

We just get the regular kindle, and then get a case that completely encases the kindle. The one i have on all my kids’ kindles is made by Poetic I think. $15. Never had an issue.

  13. Tee

I love my Kindle!! I’m considered buying another one because I keep my current one in the kitchen to look at recipes.

  14. CJ

All 3 of my kids (9, 6 & 3) love playing on the regular kindles. Two of ours have gotten finicky about charging. You have to keep the cord in a certain position. But I love them and think you won’t find better in this price point. I have always bought the regular ones & gotten cases. Two of them are in a gel-like skin case & one is in a folio. They’ve been dropped countless times. We got memory cards so we could download movies on one & use it in the car with a headrest mount. (my kids tend to get carsick if they each hold/watch one while riding)
