I actually just ordered a new KitchenAid after mine was “diagnosed” with having something malfunctioning and it sounding odd, but I ordered it from the website Everything Kitchen. It is actually a 325 watt one and lower than this price, with $60 rebate and $5 “WELCOME” promo code. Not endorsing this website as my mixer hasn’t arrived yet (tomorrow), but will see. Love my Kitchen Aid, so can’t go wrong regardless.
Contact KitchenAid. You may have a motor problem, but it’s replaceable. You may be under warranty too. If you’re bold just unplug it and take it apart. People do it all the time to paint their mixers different colors. It’s not hard. There are DIY videos online.
Marie, thank you for the suggestion. Not bold at all, so will hopefully save that for someone to take care of after we donate it to Goodwill as I read they do small repairs on things like this. It still works perfectly fine, but supposedly is much louder than it should be. I called KitchenAid and couldn’t believe how much it cost to not only send it in as we don’t have a local repair place but also to have them diagnose it, so we just decided in light of how old it is (20 years), we’d just get a new one. So many colors to choose from though, it’s nuts.
If you’re in the Chicago area and still planning to donate it I’d love to take a look at it and see if me and my fiance could fix it. I’ve always wanted a Kitchenaid mixer, but definitely can’t splurge that much with my teacher’s salary.

I don’t believe that they were on sale yesterday for $339. They were $379 – not on sale at all.
Even if u had bought it for $379 yest and the price dropped today to $339…u can contact Kohls CS…they will price adjust if the price drops within 2 weeks after purchase.
You have to be careful expecting a price adjustment on the “big” brand items. I had 3 UA shirts that dropped the next day and Kohls refused to give me the difference. I ended up having to go in to the store, rebuy them and return the originals. A hassle but saved me $20 and the store is close to my work.

Just a word of caution about the rebate…I did this last year and they denied my 1st submission stating there was some issue with the postmarked date. I knew there was no issue as I sent it in time and mailed it through a postal store. Anyway, I resubmitted it as I always copy everything I send in for a rebate. This time I took it to the post office to mail in and took a screen shot of the post mark to prove it was on time and legible. Well they tried to deny that submission as well for the same reason…issue with the postmark. I called then and told them there could not be an issue with the postmark and I had a picture to prove it. They then gave me the rebate. So, copy everything and if you can take a picture of your postmarked envelope if you can. Good luck!!

This also happened to me. Only when I provided the proof did they ok my rebate. Sounds like a bit of a scam they are pulling.

Do it! You won’t regret it. It takes up space, but it’s beautiful to look at, and there are 30+ colors! I actually keep mine in a bottom cabinet…..it’s really not too heavy to lift up to the counter, and i only use mine once a month or so.
They are really worth it, I just made a cookie recipe that I had tripled all at the same time in my mixer and there was no problem with it mixing everything, my kids were skeptical saying it would not all fit but it did.
Julie, if you have the money, go for it! My favorite thing to use it for is to shred chicken with the paddle attachment and for mashed potatoes. Also, I think they look nice in the counter.
