I loved this post. I shop at the commissary and I always feel unprepared because there’s no add that shows what’s on sale so I’m sorta Winging it when I get there. BTW does your Comm have STACKS of coupons at the door? There are always huge stacks of the P&G monthly coups for the taking! WOO

    • Natasha Luckett

Hi you can go to http://www.commissaries.com and go to the shopping tab, click on savings aisle, and it will ask you to login you can use your sponsors last name, ss# and dob. Then click on your commissary. They list the items on sale for that 2 week period. You can also sort by percentage or by price. I use this and copy and paste the deals into a word document. Then I just print it and take it with me. It’s so helpful because the commissary doesn’t “advertise” these sale savings. Sometimes they’ll have a little tag up in front of the item but not always. Hope this helps.

    • Theresa

Erin – I have the same problem, but if you go this website it will tell you whats on sale. https://commissaries.com/log_in/html/savings_aisle.cfm You just enter your info and commissary and it will give you a list of what’s on sale and the price. It has helped me so much. Maybe we can get Collin’s sister back to posting commissary deals.

  2. Terra

    Cute. 🙂

    Collin,
I love the lemonade part at the end. I love that those very few small people didn’t get you down. Just by being you and so wonderful you have shown them that they don’t matter and they won’t stop you from what you do best. I love watching your video’s and look forward each week to them. Thank you for all of the things that you do for all of us. Thank you to your camera lady for all that she does behind the scene. Take care and keep that great attitude that you have. You totally rock girl.

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You said you use 6 coupons… or more to stack up, Where do you get 6 of the same coupons? I only have access to 1 computer, so more than 2 IP’s is pretty much out of the question. I do buy 2 newspapers and then my Mother-In-Law gives me her’s. But where do you get your multiple coupon’s from?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

the mission coupons were from papers, so either she buys extras like i do, or has friends and family give her their extras or gets the leftovers from recycle bins. some people have old computers they can print from or multiple people in their house that they can share or print from work or local libraries. hth!
ps on a good week i have been know to get more than 10 papers (some poeple can buy their papers at the dollars store or have a local paper that is a little cheaper than the big city paper)

    • Natasha Luckett

I know there are lots of Tampa Area readers out there. The St. Petersburg Times Sunday paper is only .50 cents. So I buy 10. I also buy coupons off of ebay if it’s something on sale at a really good price. The commissary sales run 2-3 weeks so you usually have time to order coupons and still take advantage of the sale.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks girls.. both your comments really help! I have only been doing this for a month, so I’m still trying to learn

  5. Michelle D

Love this post…..and the comments with the ending lemon, i laughed so hard…:)
Thank you so much for doing this

  6. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Luv it!!!! I look forward to your Follow Me Mondays every week! Thanks for all your time and effort.

  7. Maria

FABULOUS FABULOUS FABULOUS! I can’t do the commisary thing, but I LOVE that you got your chance to talk about the Lemons! You made me feel better by knowing that your stock pile gets low too. Collin…KUDOS girl!

  8. Sakura

I love your videos! My father is retired military and has access to the commissary, do you know if I can go there with him? I didn’t realize they had so many awesome deals! Can’t wait for next mondays video!

    • Kay

You can go with him, however, only cardholders are allowed to “purchase” the items and have to show ID at checkout. Some of our Commissaries have resorted to doing ID upon entering the store…if you are a guest you have to show your Driver’s License and MUST be accompanied with an ID holder. So if you’re wanting to shop with father allow him to hand over the coupons and monies.

      Reaping In Abundance,
      Kay

      • Megan

do you know if I would be able to shop there with a facility access i.d.?

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I used to have one of these and our shopping was restricted to the onsite Mini Mart.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes, you can go with him and have him buy your groceries, BUT commissaries are for people with a military ID to shop in. Having other people purchase your groceries there is against their policy and you can lose your commissary privelages if you are caught.

        • Kelly

Just an FYI, some commissaries are not even allowing guests in now. Here in Hawaii, you have to have a military id to get in, if my mom is visiting she can’t even go in there with me

  9. Leslie

    Collin,

My 5 year old loves these videos. She calls you the “shopping girl.”

  10. kim

Collin…thanks for being so real. You are a breath of fresh air! Thanks for making me smile while giving such great tips!!!

  11. Alicia

Thanks…love your video’s. I can’t go to the commisarry, but have a safeway and albertsons here. I have found “green” stickers at albertsons and that is the last chance clearnace…sometime have found great deals….thanks for all your hard work every week!

  12. Joanna

Oh my Gosh! I never wished for my husband to be in the military until now!!! Commissary Heaven! 🙂 Hey Collin, Would love to see how you organize your “stock pile.” I just started stocking up and already feel like I’m running out of room! thoughts?
    Joanna

  13. DD

gwafahahahahahahaha, love the lemon drink in the end!!! i totally miss shopping at the commissary, it’s always so much cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the one over here my husband says is always crowded, there’s never a day or time when they aren’t. by the way, what do you do when someone is behind you and you know they are huffing and puffing because you have all those coupons??

  14. Katie

Since last week, when ever I see a lemon, or hear the word lemon, I think of you!! I love all your comments!! Hilarious!! Keep up the good work!! 🙂

  15. brittany

Hi. This was very helpful for shopping at the commisary. Last week I tried to use my free milk coupon and they refused to take it. First they said they didn’t take internet coupons then when I said that wasn’t true that had just taken a lot of them they said they didn’t take them on free stuff. Thanks for all your hardwork you put into this. I look forward to your videos every week.

  16. Sarah

Love, Love, Love the lemon bit. You guys are so funny. You totally have a gift for this Collin. You and your camera lady make me laugh every monday. I went to the Commissary last night, man I knew I should of gone on Tuesday night. Oh, well. Thank you for all your hard work I and many others I am sure appreciate it as much as I do. Keep doing your thing girl. Thank you.

  17. Tracy

Collin, you made me pee a litte. LOL

  18. marie

love this video!! My 2 year old continued to request to see it when the wind was blowing the paper at the end!!! Too cute, we all love Collin here. Just a side note…in Columbia, SC there is an Earth Fare and you can get the Marcell products there – free with coupon!

  19. tiffany

You are too funny!!! Nothing like home-made lemonade! I did just that the other night at Outback. You got great deals. Those prices are so cheap to begin with. DH always tells me how cheap things were down there when he was in the Marines. Can you explain the $8 surcharge?

  20. Karen

Thanks for doing the commissary video! That must have been hard! I know how crowded it can be. I go there every two weeks. My coupons are not as good as yours. I try to use as many as I can but the newspapers are regional and the coupons are definitely NOT the same! Love the lemons. You should tell everyone to go to the Olive Garden and start ordering lots of lemons and water.

  21. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks Collin I almost spilled my coffee watching you enjoy the lemons!

  22. Vicki

That a girl! Way to go! HAHA, see, you can’t let those little ‘gnats’ bug at you!!!!! That was TOO CUTE about the lemons…right back at-cha! 🙂 The only other thing I have to say is, well, I don’t want my hubby to be in the Coast Guard but I DO wish we could have commissary benefits! What great prices. But luckily for all of us who aren’t military, we can still save loads and bundles due to the all the great deals and coupons! :):):)

  23. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Next time you need to warn us before you put a lemon joke in the middle of your video. I almost had a mouthful of coffee sprayed on my computer. Thanks for the laugh!

  24. Heather

    Hey Collin,
Did you buy 10 Smart Ones and use all 3 coupons? I was wondering if I would be able to get away with that.
    Thanks!

  25. Jessica

I love your videos. I just wish I could get my husband on board. My kiddos broke my printer so now I just have to get what I can with the one paper that I get. Thanks so much for your help with lowering my shopping bills.

  26. Meghan

Love your videos, but at the end I always wonder where your reusable totes are!

  27. mom2five

You are too funny! Thanks for making me smile 🙂

  28. Tracy

I love the fact that you can laugh at/with yourself and keep it so light and real. Things like the coffee spill happen to people all the time. You could have left it out of the video and no one would have been the wiser, but once again you put yourself out there and I love it. I’m not millitary and do shop at the commissary, but the same principles apply to every grocery store so the peice was still very relevent. I love how you ended it with the lemonade…awesome. Thanks for all your hard work.

  29. MamaBear

last week i was telling my bff about the whole lemonade throw down and we were walking into applebees and low and behold they had an enormous sign that said try our fresh made lemonade!! i busted into a fit of giggles and the waitress was looking at me like i had rabies!!!

  30. Kay

    Greetings Collin!

Wanted to inform you and your readers of the Electrasol tab deal I found at the Commissary. Using the $2.50/1 (12/13RP) I was able to get the 60ct. box, currently priced at $2.89, for $0.39ea.! These are not shelved with the regularly sold Electrasol products. They were on an endcap as part of a promotion. The sale on them began on 1/13 and did not have an end date posted on the sales card. I went back again the other day and they were still on sale so I grabbed some more to share with family, friends, and neighbors.

    Reaping In Abundance,
    Kay

    • Theresa

Wow I will have to go look for this deal! Thanks for sharing.

    • cjs

Kay, wish you were my neighbor 🙂 Also, for those not able to shop at commissaries, Target has the electrasol Finish Powerball tablets (20 pk) for the clearance price of $3.05 (my North. Calif. store). Use the $2.50 coupon from the 1/3 SS, and it makes it 0.55/box!

      • Latasha

Where in northern CA are you? I’m also a nor cal girl!

  31. Shannon

I am currently laughing my head off with you and those lemons! Great job!

  32. Leigh Anne

Collin, you are so adorable and funny! I think it’s awesome you put yourself out there by doing these videos. I am waaaay too self conscience to do this! Also, just wanted to tell you when I watch your videos while I’m holding my 3 1/2 month old, she CRACKS UP! She just loves your voice!

  33. Kim

The two times Ive been in the commissary I checked out the diapers and walmart was cheaper (based off diapers) so Ive never tried grocery shopping there. You have inspired me to try this weekend. 🙂 Very excited. Thank you for all you do. And I LOVED the lemon jokes 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I also don’t buy my groceries at the commissary (lately I’ve gotten way better deals on CVS and Walgreens sales) but when it comes to food and toiletry items, you can save a bundle when you do coupon matchups. Happy shopping!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Sorry, I meant diapers! 🙂

  34. angeline

omg colling you are a girl after my own heart tooooooo silly and funny gota love ya!!!!

  38. Marlene

Thank you for putting the list together. I will head over to our commissary tomorrow. I am sure, the will find a reason for not taking one or the other coupon :((

  39. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Collin, you are TOO funny with the lemons! LMAO!

  40. Isabel

    Keep it up!!!

  42. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great video!! The commissary seems to be a little cheaper than around here in Texas at the Krogers and what not…lucky!! Still alll really good stuff.. I went shopping yesterday and had $38 in coupons..lovin’ it!!

  43. Holly

I’m sooo glad you’re not SOUR about those stupid lemon comments!! Your videos are so cute and informative!! Keep em coming!! I think I’ll go have a glass of lemonade!!

  44. Anna

AAAHHHH! You are SO funny! I love your sense of humor! Cracking me up!

  45. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

my kids and i love watching your videos…
My 6yr old always asked why do I copy everyhting the “coupon Lady” does… LOL
i love you blog.. thanks for everything….

  46. Kiki

I loved the lemon parts! Good for you! I am glad you are not letting those comments stop you from making these videos since sooo many more of us like these videos! You have WAY more fans than critics, believe me!!! Yay for you!!!

  47. Cindy

Collin – you often use your coupons on trial size product to make an item very inexpensive or free. Do you think this is the best option – or should one buy a larger size of the product and get “more value” for the item. YOu know how it is sometimes less per oz or whatever for the larger size items?

  48. Tiphanie

HAHAHA LOL Thanks for the laugh. I really needed it. I love that you made fun of the lemon thing! You are awesome COllin. Wish my dad would take me to commisary more so i could get those good deals. I try to help his wife, but she doesnt listen to me. THey have money, so they dont care about saving as much i as i do i guess.

  49. Samantha

I love the lemon part, too! And like so many others, I enjoy that your videos are “real” and show us that you can really score even if things don’t go according to plan ( say, the electricity goes out or whatever it was the happened the first go around LOL).

My 18 month old likes to watch ” Miss Collin” with me each Monday! =)

Maybe you should use the “when life hands you lemons…” tag line as a second little motto on your blog. HA!

  50. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

hahahaha..love the lemons!! Your videos are great and so fun to watch! You’re adorable =) Thanks for all you do!
