Swagbucks: Earn FREE Amazon.com Gift Cards!
Alright, so I am finally jumping on the Swagbucks bandwagon! I’m pretty embarrassed to say that I haven’t posted anything regarding Swagbucks and well, from what I’ve heard there are FREE Amazon.com gift cards to be made, so I’m jumping in and am going to start swagging it–whatever that means!
My awesome blogging buddy, Kristin, over at Couponing To Disney educated me on Swagbucks–BIG time! This post would not be possible without her help, so thank you, Kristen!
Do I have any readers that don’t know much about Swagbucks? If so, don’t feel bad because you’re definitely not alone. I’m right there with ya!
So the first order of business–What is Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is a site that lets you earn Swagbucks (points) by literally just searching the web… something we do on a daily basis anyways! They also have an excellent referral program! If you refer someone over to Swagbucks and they earn a Swagbuck, you will earn a Swagbuck too–up to 100 Swagbucks! So you could potentially earn 100 Swagbucks from each friend you refer! Plus, once you accumulate enough Swagbucks, you can cash them in for various rewards, including Amazon.com gift cards! Yay!
How do you get started?
- Go here and register on Swagbucks by creating an account
- You will get 3 Swagbucks just for signing up!
- After registering, you can immediately start searching for anything you want on the web just by using the Swagbucks search engine!
- Periodically, while searching, you may see a pop up that says you’ve won anywhere from 1 to 10 or more in Swagbucks. From what I’ve heard, the best time to search is in the morning or the evening.
- Another way to earn Swagbucks, is by entering the Swagcode that is released almost everyday. This is a special code that you can enter in the swagcode box and you will instantly earn Swagbucks without having to search for them! How do you get this special code? Go to the Swagbucks homepage, click on “Ways to Earn” in the top left, then click on “Special Offers” and then click on the “No Obligation Offers” blue box on the right.
One you get to this page, it will state this:
Welcome to Swag Bucks Special Offers. Sign up for the free money-saving offers you like,
feel free to skip the rest, and find a special swag code reward at the end.
Skip ALL the offers by clicking the skip button or the See Next Offer button beneath the advertisement. Finally after about 7 pages you’ll be awarded with a Swagcode! Enter the code in the box provided on the homepage to see how much you’ve earned.
- After you’ve earned enough points, you can click on the upper tab labeled “Prizes”. Scroll down and under the categories section on the left hand side you should see “Gifts and Rewards”–click there. Now you can start scrolling through all the gift cards they have available. The Amazon.com gift card is by far my favorite reward! You can score a $5 Amazon.com gift card with just 45 Swagbucks, so literally in a month (possibly less) you could earn a $5 Amazon.com gift card!
I am so excited to start using Swagbucks on a daily basis! I’ve heard from other bloggers and readers that they were able to pay for all of their Christmas presents last year by using Swagbucks! Can you beleive that? They had earned so many Amazon.com gift cards, that the gift cards covered the full cost of their purchases! With that being said, my goal this year is to pay for all of my Christmas presents with gift cards I’ve earned through Swagbucks! I’m so excited about this challenge of mine and I hope some of you are up for the challenge too!

i got $25 worth of amazon gift cards
I’ve been swagbuckin’ for a year now. I don’t search tons of times a day, but I managed to get three $10 Starbucks cards in a year. People who do lots of searching really rake it in though.
Another way to earn swagbucks is to send in old video games and cell phones.
I’m like you, Dana, I probably only get about 5 Swagbucks a week, but that works out to $5 Amazon gift card every couple of months, so I’m thrilled!

LOVE SWAGBUCKS!!! I still am a newbie. I signed up 3 1/2 weeks ago and I already have 67 swagbucks and that is without any referals. It is so easy and worth it! I suggest you download the toolbar once you sign up so you can easily use it for any internet searches you do.
I just started too. I only have 37 so far so I’m feeling kinda discouraged. I’ve read about so many people who have been able to buy great things with their points, but I need a lot more. I’m interested to hear more about your experience with this as you continue. I’ll be right there with you!

Swagging doesn’t really work for me since they’ve got the site blocked at work where I spend the majority of my day. I’m happy for yall that can use it to its potential though!

I tried it for a little while, and it seemed like a LOT of effort for very little return. I don’t see how anyone could pay for their entire Christmas with this site (unless they have a good way of scamming the system, which seems unlikely to me given SB’s popularity). It reminded me of the big survey sites that ration out the surveys you can take, so that it takes a year to reach the minimum payout amounts.
A lot of people have referrals, and so for every dollar the referral earns, they also earn too up to 100 bucks per referral. That is how they are able to get so many prizes
I agree. I belong, but I don’t count on earning a lot of points with it. I guess I just consider it a bonus when I do get them.
I’ve only been on for less than a month and I have over 200 SB – if you look at the special offers closely, there are some that you dont have to pay to complete – I got 3 for signing up for the Home Depot do-it-herself club and a ridiculous number for signing up for a free trial of stamps.com! I’ve gotten nearly 50 from my 2 active referrals, and scored as high as 4pts for a search (I will do random searches whenever I sit down-just whatever comes to mind or catches my eye – once I got 4pts for searching “poopie diaper” because I didnt want to get up and go change one HA!!) most searches are 1pt when you get an award so you’re not going to get far just on those – keep referring people and keep looking at special offers!

I’ve been doing it since about last June, and average 2 – 3 Swagbucks a day. Don’t have any referrals. However even with that kind of average I’ve received over $60 in Amazon gift cards and have treated myself to books and CD’s that normally I might not have gotten. If I tried harder to get referrals, or were willing to do some of the special offers, I could get more but I’m satisfied with the program as is. It’s like MyPoints . . . since I don’t do a lot of online shopping I may only make enough to get a couple of restaurant gift cards a year, but I’ll take a free night out, or free books and DVDs just for searching through those sites rather than Google! And, just like MyPoints, Swagbucks has many more prizes available including PayPal payments . . . I just find that accumulating the $5 Amazon cards is faster & a better value.

Kimberly, you can buy pretty much anything and everything at amazon, and if you have over $25 in your cart, you get free shipping. I use it all the time.

I love Swagbucks! I paid for my whole Christmas using Amazon gift cards that I got through Swagbucks and survey sites, and that is without any referrals! I just use Swagbucks instead of google as my search engine and you accumulate at least a couple a day.
I love swagbucks!!! I don’t have many referrals but I do get a few bucks each day I search. I started in August and I have earned about $65 in amazon cards.
Even if you can’t use Swagbucks at work or all the time, you can still do well. I usually get swagbucks twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. So if you do a few searches in the morning before work (I usually search for the websites I’m looking at anyway like cnn, it’s hip to save, and others) and a few more in the evening, you can earn around 60 swagbucks a month without doing anything special. That’s $15 in Amazon gift cards every two months or $90 a year. Maybe not enough to do Christmas shopping but still awesome for when you want to order some of the great deals Amazon has!

NO WAY BETTER THAN MYPOINTS! You just use their search engine and they pay you. Mypoints takes FOREVER, with Swagbucks you can actually get stuff.

I’m gonna try it..lol. But I am a bit confused on the “paid for Christmas” part. Is it kind of like the posts that Collin puts up sometimes about maybe a childs toy that is regularly $20.00 being sold for say XX amount and XX amount for shipping or free shipping with Amazon? I guess one or two $5 gift cards could pay for the whole deal? That would be great!

one of the greatest things about Swagbucks IMO is that if you redeem for the amazon.com GC you can just get it $5 at a time and let your GC’s accumulate in your amazon account. For Christmas this past year I had $100 to use thanks to SB’s. I started somewhere between March and May last year, can’t remember which, but I earned right at $100 by christmas and did ALOT of C-mas shopping there as a result. It’s great, fun and a little bit addictive! 🙂 Good luck!!!

I cant believe as much as your on the internet you werent signed up yet Collin! I like SwagBucks, Ive referred a couple people, most of them dont sign up because they dont understand but its FREE $! I have been Swaggin since October and Im saving them for this Christmas, I have over 350! And thats with only 2 referrals! I DO sit online ALLLL day at work, but, I usually get 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening, just like most. Ive never got more than 3 at once, even on MEGA Swagbucks Day (Fridays). I joined swagbucks a month or so ago. I’m not completely on board. I find the search results more difficult to navigate through. I still prefer google’s search results over swags. Sounds like I need to accept change and give it a better try. We’ll see, I’m not yet convinced.
I think it pulls up a lot more shady sites than Yahoo or Google does. I find a lot more Span and sales sites and things that don’t come up on Yahoo searches. 🙂
i agree with you Sarah…some of the links are very shady on their search engine…i read reviews and some people warned of sites with viruses and spam.
thats where they make their money to give us! just scroll on down and you’ll find the same links you’ll find on google (its powered by google!).
its true! you dont have to spend all day searching to rack up points just do a few a day..
oh and here is the very best tip i can give: do a search (like hip2save), then save the search to your favorite list. every time you want to go to the site, just go to your fav list and voila your doing a search without having to retype it in. Fast and easy and very often gets you a sb!!

I have been with swagbucks for 6 months or so. At first, the toolbar was a good way to get swagbucks because I would get at least a few messages a week (via the toolbar) with codes to redeem for swagbucks. However, the toolbar messages have slowed down a LOT. I have a theory that they inundate new users with swagcodes at first, in order to get people hooked. Then after awhile, you can still earn maybe 3 sb per day by using their search engine, and you might get 1 swagcode via the toolbar every week or two.
Yay! I signed up for SB two weeks ago and have already earned a $5 amazon GC. Does anyone know how long they will be offering the $5 card for 45 swagpoints? I got the impression that this is a special deal?? I have 2 referrals, swag in the am, during the day and at night, usually earn 3 points a day. I’m now half way to my next $5 card. I don’t think I’ll “pay” for Christmas, but at least get a nice gift for my daughter (I have my eye on a play kitchen).

How funny, MY goal this year is to pay for Christmas using swagbucks!! I was just telling my hubby about it (again, for the 100th time) this morning!! I signed up about 3 months ago and have earned over 300 so far… downloaded the toolbar, referred some friends, etc. The most I’ve earned in one search is 4 SB, but I’m consistent in using the toolbar, so I earn at least 1-2 every day. Swagbucks is super cool!
I did that last year. All of my Xmas gifts with the exception of 1 were paid for with amazon cards from swagbucks. 🙂
I’ve been swagging for about a month. I’ve already earned $25 worth of Amazon gift cards and have enough bucks saved up for $15 more. A few things in this post are a little unclear, however. The code that Collin discusses is the special offer code. It is only changed once a week (at some point on Thursday.) You can only use that code once, so you have to wait a week for a new one.
Swag codes are released almost daily, though. They could be on the blog page, the twitter page, the facebook page, the toolbar, or in the swidget. The swidget will always tell you if there is a code available. If you go to the swagbucks homepage, there are instructions for getting a swidget. (Maybe Collin could attach one to her blog…)
You will only get swagbucks from SEARCHES that your referrals do. You will not get bucks for any codes or special offers they do.
There are also special offers available under the “ways to Earn” category on the home page. Some of those are free or very inexpensive and can earn you quite a few bucks easily and quickly.
You can also earn bucks for every dollar you spend at certain online stores. Again, those can be found under “Ways to Earn.”
The swagbucks facebook page can be a good place to ask questions if you aren’t sure how things work.

Ive been doing swagbucks since sept and I have a lot! I was going for a Target gift card till I noticed it was an e-card. Theres nothing I want from Target that bad. (if it was a card they mailed you I could grocery shop) So I was thinking of cashing in for Amazon cards but I am not sure how it works. Does it sit in your amazon account till you apply it? Or do they mail it to you? ANy info would be most helpful from those who have cashed in.
BTW Collin, its cheaper to get 5 $5 amazon cards then to get the $25 dollar one. So watch for that! 😉

Its a code that you input into your Amazon account. Not an actual card. I believe you can add them to your account to have there for when you want to buy something.
They accumulate until you want to use them. There is a link under Your Account on Amazon to input gift card codes.
They give you a code ( whcih appears in your account on swagbucks) and you enter that into your account on Amazon.com and they can accumulate there until you need them. When you go to buy something it will automatically apply the amount of your gift cards toward your purchase. 🙂 The great thing about them is they do not expire once you place them in your Amazon account. Be careful with the other gift cards on swagbucks as most will NOT let you stack them. Meaning you can only use one per order. 🙁

I started this in December and I have received $5 in my paypal along with $25 off a $35 @ Restaurants.com. It really doesn’t take long once you get the hang of it.

I do not understand how everyone is getting 3 points by searching in one day. I am on there constantly and never get more than 2 per day. I started back in October and have only gotten enough points for 1 Amazon GC. I am close to my second now. I used my $5 GC on Amazon’s black Friday magazine deal for Real Simple! 🙂 I haven’t received my first issue yet which is disappointing. Oh well!
PS Read the emails they send you…most of them have a Swag code at the bottom for a free buck!
You can score more than 2 bucks a day. You need to not oversearch but if you check every 3 or 4 hours for a few times you are likely to score something. You need to find a rhythm that works for you. The search engine gets to know you and you need to keep it as natural as you can and it will reward you most times.
you can also redeem your bucks through paypal it is 70 for $5 but still its for doing nothing, however around christmas they were having “daily specials” or something like that and they had it reduced to 55 i think for $5 thats what I did however I was only able to get 2, but I love it you can get games gift cards etc. Ive only been signed up for a few months only searching a few days out of the week I’ve gotten $10 for amazon $10 through paypal and I have about 110 bucks still lol I love it.

See a note, when you use your card code, it doesn’t mark it as used, so you have to go in and manually mark it as used, so you know not to try to use it again. Not a big deal, but I thought I would throw that out there.

I love Swagbucks! I finally got my husband to sign up and I’ve been getting more thanks to his referral bucks.
Also, if you get enough to the get the five dollar Alice gift card, it does need to be with a new Alice account (so you can sign up your SO or someone if you already have one) and then order one item (the first time ordering at Alice they’ll let you just order one thing, every time after must be six items) and it will be shipped free to you! I opened a new Alice account for my husband, and bought a package of pampers wipes and only paid .70 cents because I had the five dollar gift card from swagbucks!
And Kim, I believe it sits in your account until you order something, and then it can be used the next order you place. But they only send out the codes on the 15th and 30th so if you get one of the cards, the code will be given to you on the 15th or 30th in the “My account” section of your swagbucks page.
If your husband is in the same house as you (which I assume he is) that is against swagbucks rules. 1 account per household. They WILL track your IP address and shut you down. Be careful!
