Wouldn’t you love to spend a night out at the theatre for FREE?! Well, beginning, October 1st you can do just that through Free Night of Theatre 2010! Free Night of Theatre 2010 is a nationwide program offering FREE tickets to a broad range of performances. The free tickets will be offered to performances between October 1st and October 31st; however, tickets will begin going live today, September 20th (keep in mind that ticket release dates vary by region). To find a participating show in your area of the country, click here.

* In an effort to provide all interested customers an opportunity to reserve tickets to an event, venues and promoters have set limits on the number of tickets one customer or household is allowed to purchase. If you are unable to find tickets to an event, check back again or contact the theatre directly. If an event is “sold out,” you are encouraged to choose another performance to ensure your ability to participate in this ticket program.

Sounds great, but nothing in my area……..bummer!

  3. Nikki

This is great! But I wish there was something close to my town on the list. What a bummer.

I participated in this program a couple years ago (wasn’t able to get tix last year). It was amazing. We ended up with front row seats to an amazing play. thanks for the post!

This is awesome! We did it last year and got to go see Bert and Ernie. The lady next to us bought tickets that cost her $40 PER person and we got 3 for free!! I’ve been watching the site to see when they go on sale in our area. I already have the show picked out I’m going to try for this year.

wow! this would mean so much to me, to be able to take my three girls into Seattle to see a show. A few years ago, we were able to get 5 dollar tickets to Shrek the Musical and they had so much fun. I really believe the theater can instill a lifetime love of performing and arts in their little hearts.

I just scored tickets to see Dracula – A Rock Opera and I will be taking my 10 year old daughter and her friends. Her birthday is in October and she is in theatre too so this is a double treat!!! Thanks so much!!!

  8. Rita

I am going to see Dracula too. 🙂

  9. Dee

This is too cool! Unfortunately, nothing in Atlanta this go-around…

We did this last year and it was awesome; too bad KC isn’t participating this year…

    • Takako

I was hoping that any KC areas would be nice… Darn!! 🙁

    • bali

Yeah, I’d been looking forward to this… they had 2 or 3 theaters participating last year, guess they don’t have enough money now…

  11. Linda

I’m going to Dracula also! Free theatre tickets and just got a restaurant.com gift certificate for $.80. Nice night out for my hubby and I!

  12. Courtney

I can’t find anything about what number to call 😕
    I feel like I’m missing something 😕

So, I called the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the lady knew absolutely nothing. Nothing!

    • bali

They probably haven’t updated their website yet; the Dallas events go live on 10/1. You reserve the tickets on their website once it’s live.

how do you go about getting the tickets? the link that says click here to see shows in your area isn’t a link on my end. anyone else having that problem?

  15. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’ve never done this but it sounds great! How many tickets is each person or household allowed to get? I hope I can get 4 for the whole family!

  16. Tiffany Yack

hm… i cant see anywhere to call or reserve these tickets.. any suggestions? I’ve tried it in both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

  17. Tiffany Yack

oh! doy! My area doesnt open until the 28th! 🙂

  18. Emma

I can’t tell how to do this. I clicked on Los Angeles and it just takes me to a list of the shows and their full prices. I can’t see any way to book free tickets.

  19. Natalie

My boys and I got free tickets last year to see Radio Alice with local radio djs. It was a really cool version of Alice in Wonderland. We were front row and had a blast!
I’m hoping we can get tickets again this year (start on the 28th) to Thriller, Oliver, or War of the Worlds. The performance night for all three are exactly 3 days away from my due date for baby, so we’ll see! Grandma can take them if we’re in the hospital. 🙂

  20. Jessica

Me too Emma! I’m in the LA area as well and same thing for me…just the site with all the shows at regular prices. Not sure if I’m looking in the wrong spot?
