Yes, you did read the title correctly. The first 5 shoppers (yep… pretty funny!) to get to their local Hallmark Gold Crown store and say the magic phrase “Do You Know the Way to Pet Town?” tomorrow, November 5th, will each receive a FREE Freaky Pet. …AND I was actually surprised to receive emails from 2 readers (when this free promo was available back in October) who were both actually able to score the FREE Freaky Pet, so I guess it’s worth a shot!

I actually did this last time and got two! They gave one to my two year old as well! It was funny, I knew about it and had NO INTENTION of doing it but the Hallmark was next to a Starbucks I was at… As I was going out- the lady was opening the door, haha.
I also picked one up last month! I was surprised that I was able to score one since it was only the first FIVE people, but yay! Thanks for posting this!
I actually walked back into Starbucks and told people who looked like grandparents or with little kids:)

LOL I remember this from last time… The first 5 people is a little ridiculous for me, especially since my nearest Hallmark is about 20 minutes away! 😉

Anyone know how much these cost? I might drive there in the morning just for kicks since one near me is participating….then I can shop with my $5 hallmark card from Midwest Living while I’m there too. =)
They are 15 normally, I had two pay $2ish with tax.
These retail for $14.99 and are really cute! I was lucky enough to get one last time. The store associate told me that only ‘corporate stores’ participate, so definitely check the website before making a trip. The franchise stores won’t be aware of the promotion….
First 5 they’re that stingy
They are 14.95- normally, $75 of revenue/ store doesn’t seem stingy to me. Especially, when I’ve only seen maybe 15 in each store I’ve been at.
5 per store is a lot when totaled up! I’m going to see if I can get one after I drop my daughter off at school!

I got one last time!! I was the first one in the store and the lady actually cheered when I said the “magic phrase”!! Then I walked over to Great American Cookie Company to get a free cookie and was able to tell another mom about it and she got one too.
Seriously, we were at the mall when it opened and it wasn’t like there was a mob of people trying to get a free toy…I bet it was at least an hour or two before they had given out five…cause like the three other people that came in the store while I was there weren’t there to get a free toy…they were picking out cards and just browsing.
It’s not like there are THAT many people who both know about the promo, have a participating shop nearby, and actually get themselves over there to get the promo!!

chek location online. my nearest isnt participating.

i tried my store she said she had no idea what i was talking about so i wrote to hallmark and i just received mine in the mail 3 days ago!!!!! so you can always try emailing hallmark via facebook to see if they can help or even get you a coupon
I called both Hallmarks near me and they both said they are participating but you need some red card you should have recieved in the mail?
No way! You should just have to say the special phrase! I’d print out the instructions (found on the freaky pets site) and take it in to your store. Good luck!
my husband & i owe a local pizzeria & there is a hallmark in the same shopping center. he went in there tonight just before they closed & ask for one & they gave it to him. thanks hip 2 save for always posting great deals!
I was able to get one last time too! Wasn’t planning on it, but my 4 yo daughter and I were at the mall on a Mommy/Daughter Day (also inspired by Collin) and the Hallmark was next door to Bath & Body Works, where I was getting FREE lotion. It was after noon and I definitely thought all the pets had been claimed, but the store employee said I was only the third person that day. Thanks Collin!
I went last time they did this promotion and was the only one in the store from 10-1015 a.m. then my mother went at 5 p.m. that afternoon and still got a free Freaky Pet!
where do i find the participating stores?
My son would love these but tried the store locator and it pulls up a state 1000 miles away. Not sure now if I should bother making a trip or not.
I got one last time too, I was the 2nd person to get one & I told 2 other moms about them as I was walking through the mall and their kids were admiring my sons new toy. And both moms were able to get one easily. I don’t think this is a well publicized “event” so it shouldn’t be too difficult to get one.

I got one today – thank Collin for the info!!! We might try another store later today as it was still closed when we went by this morning. I will probably call first and see if they have given away the 5 yet.
I could have gotten one, waited forever for the store to open after dropping the hubby of at work. They wanted to charge me 1.01 for tax. Which isn’t a big deal but right now we can’t spare even a penny. 1.01 is a loaf of bread. Felt like the worst mom though taking my daughter out of the store crying for the toy we had to leave behind. But tough times call for tough decisions and filling our bellies is more important then a toy.

I got 2 this morning. Both my sons were with me and were able to get them. They are very excited about them. The manager also said that we were the first ones to come in since the begining of the promo. I too had to pay tax. My husband said i shouldn’t have had to since the tax is on the money exchanged. Since there was no money exchanged there shouldn’t have been tax. I emailed Hallmark to see what their responce is. I don’t mind paying tax if i’m supposed to, but if i don’t have to then it seems wrong. We’ll see what happens.

I was able to get three! I went to three different stores and paid $1.09 tax. Our church is collecting items for a childrens charity, so this will be a great donation! Thanks for all you do Collin! Hope your husband is doing well.
I got 1!!!!!! I was so excited. The worker laughed when I asked and said but of course follow me. She told me she was surprised I came in because last time they did this promo not a single person came in looking for them.

Just wanted to let you know that I was able to pick one up after 12:30 p.m. today. I figured they would be all gone by my lunch break at work, but I called the closest Hallmark, made sure they were participating the giveaway and still had ones.
They are really cute!!

I actually got 2 last month and 2 this month! I have 4 kids so that worked out great! I really don’t think people know about this-I had my hubby go as soon as they opened and he tried to get 2 (one for my son that was with him and one for my other son that was not) but they said only one per family, which I do not believe is how the ad worded it, but whatever. So I went back 2 hours later and I think I was only the 2nd person (the 1st was my husband!) for the day! My kids all LOVE theirs and we have not even gone online to register them yet! Thanks for the heads up!
I went to my hallmark store about an 30minutes after they opened and they didn’t even know about the freebie. I showed them the link on my iphone and they researched it and told me they found the code. I was excited that we got one. Thanks Colin.
