Wowza!! Amazon currently has the Mega Bloks Thomas Adventure on Misty Island priced at just $14.99 – down from $49.99! Plus, this item ships FREE with Amazon Prime or on $25 or more with Super Saver Shipping! This seems like a great price, so I would snatch it up before the price goes back up.

Did anyone read the California warning? It says has materials known to cause cancer….already had it in my cart and read the review on amazon..any thoughts??

    • Heather Walters

I read that and was debating on whether or not to get it too…. I can’t decide.

There are warnings like this from California on so many products (ex.christmas lights–you’re supposed to wash your hands every time you touch them…). I wish they would tell us what makes them so certain. Did they expose a bunch of people to this material and then survey them later to see how many people had cancer? Why is it only known in the State of California? Is there technology more advanced than everywhere else in the US/World?

    • momwhocares

There is now a warning on shingles for your roof

      – that says this product is known in the state of california to cause cancer..

Well, my husband used to do roofing with his brother (his brother owns roofing business. So, that would mean everyone who does roofing is capable of getting cancer according to that notice. The question is: why is this only known to the state of California when seen on warnings??? Why do other states not have an issue with cancer from products with these labels?

    Great price!

wow, was really wanting to jump on this but if you are flat out warning me that it is made of chemicals known to cause cancer, HOW can I buy it?!? No brainer here, no deal is worth any chance in He!! of harming my children.

    • sophia mayfield

scary huh? How is this still on the market!!! Also warns of reproductive warning!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I read about Prop 65, which is what this warning is, and it says that the warning is placed everywhere in CA…weird. It says that its overuse has lent to little meaning to the disclaimer…not sure if I’m convinced though.

yay! Thank you so much for posting this. I almost bought it from Kohl’s a couple of weeks ago with the sale and coupon but it was still $30. I am so glad I waited. My lil man LOVES trains. Does anyone know if these are considered to be the smaller thomas trains? because I am also getting him the Step2 Deluxe Canyon Road Train & Track Table for his birthday and the comments say those are the ones that will fit it. Thanks!

That is EXACTLY what our 3-year-old wanted for Christmas, and now we can buy him a Buzz Lightyear, too! 🙂

Everything in California has this warning, I kid you not. Fabric, pumping gas, the tunnel at Chuck E Cheese. While it can be worrisome, I really believe that unless your child is ingesting the mega blocks on a regular basis, while sitting in a bathtub full of them, locked in a room with no venthilation (and I don’t suggest this), then it’s not going to be a problem. Also there are items that contain these same chemicals, but they are not required to put this on the packaging yet. You may have items in your home already that contain these same chemicals. I’m NOT an expert, this is just my opinion.

    • Amanda

Love your comment! I couldn’t have said it better myself.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I agree as well. I think they go a little over board over there on the west coast.

    Here is further info:
Parents and toy givers should not purchase soft plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) toys for children 5 years old and under that contain phthalate chemicals. PVC is hard and brittle, so phthalates are added as “plasticizers,” or softeners. Testing has shown that some children’s teething and other toys contain up to 40% phthalates–a class of chemicals that has been linked to chronic hazards, including liver and kidney damage. The chemicals are probable human carcinogens and have been shown to have some of the characteristics of “endocrine disrupters” — chemicals that cause reproductive abnormalities. Testing has also shown that these chemicals are not “bound” to the plastic, but leach out of it over time. Chewing and sucking on toys during play can increase the rate at which these toxic chemicals are leached, and increase exposure by children.

Most toy companies have complied with the CPSC request. Many toy companies are planning to or already have eliminated phthalates from production surpassing the CPSC’s voluntary ban. A recent example is Mega Bloks, a manufacturer of preschool building blocks. In an October 16, 2000 press release, a Mega Bloks spokesman said, “Parents should be reassured that their infants will not be exposed to any phthalates or PVC while playing with Mega Bloks construction toys.” NYPIRG commends Mega Bloks and other manufactures for protecting children from potentially toxic chemicals.
    hmmmm?!?

Thank you Collin. My husband and I moved back to PA right before holidays so it’s been tough trying to get caught up with bills and handle Christmas shopping. Your deals have helped me get some great gifts for my son, that I may have otherwise not been able to do. Thanks so much for all that you do.

  12. Sarah

I was concerned about the Prop 65 warning, too. I called MEGA Brands and a customer service rep there assured me that their toys pass all safety requirements, and are phthalate free. She didn’t know why that warning was posted on the product on Amazon, and could only say that MEGA doesn’t control the product descriptions found there.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thank you for calling!

I was just saying I need to get somehting for my best friends son! Then this comes along! I added a filtered water bottle for myself, I really want one, to get over $25. Used $20 in Swagbucks gift cards I earned this month and paid 6.07! This is what I call Christmas on a budget!

  14. DL

awesome deal, had $10 in e-amazon gifts cards thanks to Swagbucks! $4.99 shipped!! O yay!

    • Christina

I totally copied you!!! Great thing to use Swagbuck gc’s on!!! Whoo hoo. 🙂

  15. cara

Great price! They’re $40 at Target/Walmart on the rollback price! I had my eye on this guy and didn’t want to spend the money and now I didn’t even have to pay tax, who hoo! Thank you so much Collin!

  16. Erica

I think someone should go to walmart and look on the box and see if there really is a warning on it and see what it says. I ordered one for my 4 year old, but he is also out of the stage of chewing on toys. I think it is a great deal, but plan to look into the warning when I get it and see if it is something that I really need to worry about. From the sounds of it, it is not anything. I am sure they if they are not safe they would have had some kind of recall by now. Mega blocks don’t want all of us coming after them for a unsafe toy.

  17. Erica

I would also like to hear what someone that live in CA thinks about the warning, and if they would buy a product with the same warning on it.

  18. Nicole

FYI, this is back up to 19.99. I guess I’m too late.

  19. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    We missed it!
