    Dear Colin,
I was looking for rite aid deals and i saw the battery one and began reading the comments … big mistake… i’d heard about couponing and never really tried it to this past year… i’m a 24 year old mom of 2 with a step son a family of five… in school full time for nursing and can work as a server 2 days a week… THANK YOU so much for this site…. it has been the only reason i’ve been able to make it through christmas this year… i have saved a ton of money… and i have you to thank for it… I would have never taken the time to learn all this stuff.. and i’m truly blessed ppl. like you have learned it and decided to share with us… And now when i’m making good money… i’ll still be able to save, etc. THANKS SO MUCH MERRY CHRISTMAS to your family and a HAPPY NEW YEAR

This is OT, and I’m sorry for that, but I sit here with tears streaming down my face Collin, and it’s because of you. Do you know how incredibly awesome you are? I look at my tree and see all the gifts underneath that I had the good fortune to find for amazing deals thanks to you and alot of others who share on this site. 3 months ago I wasn’t even sure how we were going to get anything for our children, but thanks to you and all the other kind folks who share their deals, not only is our tree packed with gifts for my children, but I was also able to pass the Christmas spirit around to 3 other families who are going through truly hard times.
To say a simple “thank you” doesn’t seem like enough. I went from dreading this season to becoming so joyful and full of love that I am truly amazed at what I was able to accomplish because of H2S. 10 other people will now have gifts to open thanks to you. 10!!! & it’s not like they are just getting a package of socks to open, they all have multiple things to open.
From the bottom of my heart, I say Thank you and wish you all the magical blessings that Christmas can hold. You truly changed not only my life, but the lives of countless others.
    Merry CHRISTmas!!!!

I would love to add my own gratitude! Thanks to Collin, Hip2Save, and the awesome readers that leave comments, our family of 5 has been able to survive on one teacher’s income for the past two years. Yay! Like other readers, I have been able to start paying it forward to others less fortunate. Right now I have a huge box full of things to donate to the local homeless shelter. Thank you, thank you!

    • Collin

You are so welcome Jill! Merry Christmas!

  8. kidsallgone

Hey….let’s get back to the $10 off $20 guys!! haha! Just kidding! These posts were really nice and of course I have to say too that this site has made my holiday giving even more plentiful this year! I just donated about 6 travel Hungry Hippos and Battleship games to “Debbie’s Kids” at Walmart Sunday night. That was my intention when I printed off the $5/1 coupons and snagged them for free at Family Dollar πŸ™‚

AND…my 2 girls (26 and 29) were sooooo excited when I brought out my HUGE whopper sized bag of goodies that I got for free over the past year, thanks to your site. Shampoo, nail polish, nail files, detergent, body wash, deoderant, ear phones, remote, creme rinse, Halloween fuzzy socks (remember those? LOL), candy, peanuts, peanuts, peanuts, and peanuts, etc etc etc… Also had their boyfriends pick a ton of things. It was so fun to watch πŸ™‚

So reading these “thankyou thankyou thankyou’s” made me think of an idea of a fun topic for you, Collin. How about “What were your top 2 deals over the past couple months?” It would be fun to read them. But not here. We’ll keep these posts for Collin…..oh, and for Sears. LOL!!!

    • Collin

LOL! We must be connected as I am right in the middle of drafting a post about your favorite deal in 2010 so stay tuned!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

This is a great idea and I did something similar. Bought some cute baskets at Michaels for really cheap and then stuffed them full of toiletries for DS’s GF’s. But, next year I think I’ll just fill one big basket and have them dig through. In that way they can take exactly what they want. thanks for this great tip.

BTW…not a fan of SEARs either. but, I did take advantage of the coupon posted and quickly went there b/f the mall gets crazy. Got some men’s colognes that were already 30% off…then with the $10.- off coupon….SWEET!!!!!

  9. Kendall

Can you use this coupon at kmarts also?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I”m not sure about using it at k-mart…although the cashier did ask me for my k-mart rewards card. I didn’t realize k-mart bought Sears.

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I wouldn’t shop at Sears if you paid me their customer service and corporate office don’t care about thier customers. I had a t.v. and I plugged it in to see if it worked and it wouldn’t turn on so we took it back to get a full refund with a reciept, but they said because we plugged it in it was used and we would have to pay a 15 percent restocking fee for a t.v. that didn’t even work and no one would help us in any way about a full refund not even corporate office. I hate Sears. I would tell everyone I cared about not to shop there.

    • melissa

well, that doesn’t make any sense?? how can they charge you a restocking fee when the TV doesn’t even work???? Were they seriously going to put the TV back on the shelf?? If you paid with CC, you could have disputed the restocking charge. I forgot what it was, but a few years ago, I signed up for auto-renewal for some club. Long story short, 6 months into it, I decided to cancel. They refunded 1 month (even though when I signed up, the letter said I could cancel at any time for a Full refund, even if it was day 364) Called visa and they worked with me to get the other 5 months credited back. The only other thing I can think of is sometimes TVs don’t work just by plugging them in to the wall, you need to have cable connections or whatnot to get a picture.
And another kudos to Collin. I know sometimes theres disagreements going on, but for the most part, this is a pretty fun blog. I can’t believe how many great deals I have gotten this past year.

    • bfgty

Thanks for sharing this! I will add them to the “don’t buy electronics there” list.
I don’t buy electronics from Target or Best Buy because they both sold me unusable electronics and refused a refund.

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I would like to say thank you also! Your the best Collin! You take out your own time from your work/friends/family, to give us all of these great deals. You truly have a very huge heart, but I bet it feels great knowing each day you are helping someone!

  12. MommySpendsLess

    Collin,
I know you started this blog not for us, but for fun and your family/friends and hopefully by now it’s helping to support your family, but I thought I’d chime in and also let you know how much I love this site and appreciate everything you do.

I’ve been visiting deal/couponing/saving money blogs for, goodness, about four years now and gradually I stopped checking almost all the others because yours is the best. I love the thrill of the deal, all the little extras I’ve been able to get for our family and just the comradery of the community that has formed here. You may not have changed my life, but certainly the way I shop (and provided countless hours of entertainment along the way).

I know it must be hard sometimes to juggle your family and your job here, and the occasional bout of negative feedback must be discouraging, so I’m glad everyone is taking a moment to express their gratitude.

I hope Collin and all my fellow Hip2Savers have a merry Christmas filled with love and joy and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

(Oh and one suggestion/request: For deals where you have to purchase multiples to get the low price, I think it would be great if you included that in the post’s title. For example: BabyLegs: Socks $1.25 (WYB 8 packs) and Leg Warmers $2.50 (WYB 8 ) or Starfish & Disney Cros $7.49 per pair shipped (WYB 2). Frequently, I read a title and get excited about a deal then when I read that I have to buy more than I need/have extra money for I feel let down and it’s especially true when I’m checking for updates via RSS Feed. Thanks!)

    • Jenny

      I like this suggestion!!

    • kidsallgone

Can i put my 2-cent suggestion in?
Is there any way to list the comments with the newest comment first?
Or perhaps there’s a way that I can do that and I’m just too computer-dumb
      to figure it out?

Thanks for all you do Collin πŸ™‚

Last week I bought my mom a flannel nightgown and dearforms slippers and got both for 11.00 after the 10/20.

  14. Holly

Hey hope this helps s/o else who is in the same situation as I am with sears. I purchased the bogo pajama deal on December 6th scoring 6 pairs of pj pants for $24. Now after HOURS of phone conversations, three customer service hangups, and seven total representatives I still do not have my items and it is unlikely that I will have these gifts for christmas. I was finally told last night that sears has over 17,000 yes 17,000 orders that were placed between black friday and December 18th that are awaiting shipping. Obviously s/where their system has a fatal flaw. If anyone has had the same situation and any success with resolving it please let me know. These pjs were supposed to be a big part of the gift baskets that I had assembled for presents using the Hip2Save deals. And now the baskets are going to be rather empty without them. Thanks for your input guys.

  16. Kelly

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all of your hard work and help with being coupon savy. I have not only been able to save money on my own Christmas purchases, but groceries, I have been able to stuff 5 stockings for the Salvation Army and will be donating toys for a local family with 3 children who would have had nothing to open Christmas morning. I feel blessed just to know you.

  17. Smitha

Thank you Collin. As usual, I saved money because of you.
I got a fragrance gift set which included three 0.5 fl oz fragrances – Glow by J Lo, Pure Orchids by Halle Berry and Baby Phat Dame Me. It was on sale for $21.00. So after the coupon, it was $11.00 + tax. I wanted to get a nice gift for my daughter’s preschool teacher. We’ve to change her school soon because we are moving to another state. My daughter will miss her teacher.

I just got 4 burt’s bees (the big ones) set for about 5 each, they were 9.99 so I did 2 transactions and ad a filler on each one. At the end I paid about $25 for 2 panties and for burt’s bees set with full size products.
