Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

Sorry, all! 🙁 From reading your comments it appears this deal is a no go.

…AND I have yet another Rite Aid deal to share with you! They just keep popping up! Anyway, I just found out that the Bumble Bee canned tuna is in fact part of the $1 +Up Reward promo available on select food items. Even sweeter, you’ll get a $1 +Up Reward for each one purchased and an additional $1 +Up Reward when you purchase 4.

Deal Scenario:
Buy 4 cans of Bumble Bee Tuna $1.25 each
Pay $5
Get back 4 $1 +Up Reward
And get back an additional $1 +Up Reward (for purchasing 4 cans)
Final cost – 5 FREE cans of tuna!

What I love about this deal is that it requires no coupons which means this is a great deal for all you newbie couponers to score. I know it’s hard when you’re just starting out and trying to build up your coupon stash, so when these type of deals are available I would definitely recommend taking full advantage of them.

*IMPORTANT NOTE:
The 2.5 oz tuna pouches are not part of the +Up Reward promo.

(Thanks, Coupons on caffeine!)

**Check out the rest of the Rite Aid deals available to score this week here, here, here, here, here, and here! Yes, there are quite a few! 🙂

Jus to you know, some of the ups have been “fixed” I got the velveta today and only got 1UP instead of 2, same with the hormel meals. Not sure if the tuna deal was part of this “double dip”.

    • Amy

I have found with up rewards that you must purchase each item separately to get the reward and that came from an employee of the store. Just thought I would put that out there.

    • Judy

I purchased the Hormel today and received a plus up reward for each one.

    • Rose

I bought 4 of these this morning and got no ups for them. and some that were giving ups yesterday are not giving today.

  2. Susan

I tried this deal today and it did not work. I read somewhere that the deal is dead.

    • Jennifer Ostach

I agree…the double $1 UPR’s are dead:( Not sure how they can pull them, are they not posted somewhere?

  3. Barb

I also tried it today and did not get the up rewards.

  4. Krista

I also tried the tuna, and hormel deal and neither worked. Just got the $1 up that is advertised. I was bummed since I used my other ups to purchase thinking I would just get them back. What happens if you need to return and got ups on something?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They’ll either give you cash or a store credit. Will vary by store/cashier.

      • Erika

You usually lose the ups and just get what you actually paid OOP.

    • Angela

My experience is that if you pay for something with up rewards you can’t return it and get a refund of for the up rewards you spent.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

last time we purchased 4 items by only paying 96cents cash & a lot of upward…went back the store and ask for a return on the wrong item we purchased. The store assistant manager insisted that we were not able to get any refund by only paying 96cents and those upward didn’t count (otherwise it’s gonna to be fraud)….Next day, call 1-800…the customer service reimbursed $5 gift card and the store manager also called for apologizing their mistake by reimbursing another $5 gift card if we would like to go back the store. So I am pretty sure you can get the refund on something you spend with those upward ….

        • Tracy

I was told by CS this week that you should be reimbursed cash for the UPR used.

  5. Wendy Pesce

I think ther may have been a glitch with th up rewards today- i didn’t get ANY of them, I bought 4 motrin, 1 barilla, and 2 Asian meals- none of them printed!

    • john

limit on Motrin is 2 per Wellness Card, from my Rite Aid Manager

      • rachel

no its not i got 12

        • Janet

If you are taking this much Motrin you should see your doctor…

      • Angela

I spoke with customer service today and they said that if there is a limit it will be clearly posted. I think there have just been a lot of gliches lately.

        • Liz

I got 4 on one card. Got ups for all.

  6. ej

I had no luck with the extra ups from the campbells chunky soup so i was leery of this one. Thanks so much for posting, so i don’t waste my time!!

    • Amber

I have been leary of all the food ups this week. Most of them have not been printing for me. I am afraid to buy anything at Rite Aid this week. They need to get their computer problems fixed ASAP. I’m still waiting for my 20% discount to show too. 🙁

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I wish I had a Rite Aid im my area=(

  8. Lisa

Collin, I just tried this tonight and it did not work. It only printed $1 UP total for 4 cans, so you still have to pay $1.00 a can. Now here’s my question for everyone: what is the return policy at Rite Aid on items that you received UP rewards? Anyone have any experience with this? Thank you!

    • Amber

I haven’t experienced it with just up’s, but I bought something and used half ups and the other debit card and they gave me the full price back in cash? So if it’s all ups maybe store credit or a gift card? Not sure??

    • Jennifer Ostach

You will get a gift card and can keep your UP’s, they won’t even know they printed, just cut them off!

      • ipreferpublix

Whoa! I am normally very positive, but this is just plain dishonest! If you purchase items with ups attached and return the items, you should really return the ups, or destroy them.

They may not know they were there, but that doesn’t make it right. 🙁

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

today I just returned 4 hunt’s past sauce which I got yesterday with only $1 upward coming up. I took the initiative to tell the cashier that I got $1 upward for those cans and thought that he may take it back. However he just ignored what I said and gave me $5 cash back without questioning anything….

    • kenac

Probably on deals that you get “mystery” bonus Up rewards it is not as if you can take them back or complain if you buy these items and they have fixed their glitch.
If you buy items to get Up rewards and then take them back to get a gift card and keep the Up rewards, that would be called stealing.

      • Erin

I agree. It’s so annoying that the first thing people want to do when a freebie or moneymaker doesn’t work out is return the items. Seems like that is the risk you take when attempting unadvertised deals. My Rite Aid was cracking down on coupons last summer, and the cashier said it was because customers would buy products with coupons (both mfg and RA) then try to return the items for a full refund. Behavior like this makes couponing and deal seeking harder for everyone. If you are only doing a deal because it’s free or a moneymaker after Ups, please just avoid unadvertised deals.

        • Jay

It’s like no one learned anything from last years Halloween candy debacle. No Americans are entitled to anything!!! If you intended on getting product for free without feeling bad about it, you need to suck it up when rite aid corrected their error.

          • Amy

            I completely agree!

There will be deals that work out in your favor, and others that do not.

Should be grateful for what deals you do get, not feel entitled to get EVERYTHING for free or profit.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have returned items that gave me ups and my rite aid gave the the original amount of the item. They didn’t take into consideration the coupons that I used and I was still able to use my ups.

  9. melony

I had the best luck at Rite Aid today!! I got 8 boxes of the special K and was thinking i was just getting them free, I was so excited to see that I got a $1 up for each one!!! Making it a big money maker for me!!!

  10. savysaver

Anyone tried the pasta today? Is it still giving UPs?

    • Noelle

      I tried the pasta…no ups! :'(

    • Jennifer

i got the pasta and it printed 5- $1 ups…..that was around 3pm today 🙂

      • Simplysara

I just got back from the store and got the UPs for the pasta (8pm in California). I was surprised to actually get them (and I only got 4 because they only had three boxes of Barilla so I got a hunts tomato sauce to get to 4 items, so that one must not produce the extra one)

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I am in WV and I bought 4 boxes of the barilla pasta yesterday…I did get all the UPs for it.

  11. denise

I tried the pasta today and it did work.

  12. audrey

On that special K deal with using the B1G1. There was a q (dont’ remember which insert) for $1 when you buy 3. So if you buy 6 and use 2 qs you are getting overage! I did this deal yesterday! WIll do the Fiber Plus tomorrow I hope!!

    • Annie873

Overage is specifically against Rite Aid’s coupon policy. Coupons are supposed to be adjusted down. Please don’t take advantage ;(

    • LACEY

thats awesome….i did a deal and one of my boxes had a try me free label on it so I made $7.00 for buying 4 boxes of cereal!!

      • Jay

They should adjust the coupon to $0.90, and you should inform them if they don’t catch it.

  13. rachel

i bought the wrong tuna! It was signed wrong paid 1.50 a can and no up. I will have to return it. I wish I would have known about the velvetta yeasterday. The barilla worked yeasterday but the hubts worked only on the first four cans. I am wondering if I can exchange it for tuna instead. I paid with gift of savings.

    • melissa

just an FYI, when you return food, the store cannot restock it back on the shelf, it gets salvaged. I didn’t know that until I wanted to exchange some veggies I bought, the cashier asked if I was sure and told me they never restock returned food. Maybe you can see if they would refund you the difference??
      .

      • Simplysara

I’m pretty sure that’s only for fresh food because they don’t know how you stored it while you had it. I think non-perishable can be returned.

        • melissa

nope, its any food product. she said there’s a special sticker they put on food items – candy, cereal, etc. It either gets donated to shelters or close out stores by the salvage items.

  14. jennifer

This is kinda related, but I did the B1G1 Special K deal at my Rite Aid and after a big go-’round with the cashier who refused my coupon (“You’re already getting one box free. You can’t get both free. You have to pay for something!” were her words), the manager came over and agreed with me and rerung my order, but no UP Rewards printed 🙁 I wasn’t going to argue again, so I just left with my cereal, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I scanned my Wellness card, so I don’t think that was it. I even paid the remaining $1.10 (I picked up two Stayfrees with the B1G1 coupon in this past Sunday’s paper, too) in cash, not more UPs.

    • Annie873

Are you serious with this deal? Did you actually try it yourself? THIS WAS NEVER A DEAL. TUNA WAS NEVER FREE AFTER UPS. Irresponsible blogging on your part to post a deal you clearly never tested or verified.

      • Farrah

        Annie,

Why are you being so mean? We can’t expect Collin to run all over town ‘verifying’ every deal for us personally. She’s busy, posting all of these incredible finds for us, so we don’t have to spend hours (that I don’t have) trying to go it alone. I don’t understand why you’re so upset. It’s a mistake. Quite honestly, it’s probably a mistake on RA’s part.

        • Amber

Agreed. Collin does so much work. From the sounds of it, it very well may have been a deal and worked for someone out there. The UPS have obviously been messed up this week. You can’t be sure whether you will get them for anything or not.

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m annoyed because the freebies were not due to a glitch, Rite Aid computer error, etc. They were due to an overlap between a monthly ($1 +up per item) and a weekly deal ($1 +up per 4 items). The +ups were not “messed up” if you actually knew what all the monthly and weekly deals were.

The tuna was always on the weekly deal list, and IS NOT included on the monthly deal list, never was, and never produced “extra” ups. By larger sites like this one reporting they did–when she could have easily seen then didn’t by testing it herself or reading the ENTIRE thread of the site she took it from–it causes problems for everyone down the line.

            1) people complain/fight with stores when they don’t get what they expect, causing managers to be wary of couponers and become very strict regarding limits per customer
            2) as someone else said, returned food gets salvaged, not restocked. That’s a TON of wasted food…..plus is pretty unethical to return something you earned +ups on without also returning the +ups. Obviously several people who are commenting don’t seem to consider that stealing, but it is.
            3) and of course, wasting people’s time and money

And no, I’m not sad I missed the tuna deal. Because there was no tuna deal to miss. I’ll leave y’all alone now…..just be aware there really are other sites (not blogs) where each individual deal-advertised or not-are individually tested and reported back on. If you stay here though that’s probably for the best…..

            • Erin S.

Annie, that’s a great idea….we’ll stay here and you can go to another blog/site. 🙂 I have never responded to ridiculous posts on here, but yours takes the cake. If you don’t like Collin’s posts and hard work, please just move along. There are others of us who REALLY appreciate her posts….errors or not. If you have been around this post long, you know she takes posting accurate deals very seriously and is diligent about correcting any errors. What’s a few errors, when she posts SO MANY great deals that help so many!!

      • mandee

well most deals are set up by what is stated in the ad and most of the extra +up were added in buy ppl that did it in the store. like I did the special k some juice that was marked 50% off and the pads and I got $18 in Ups and thats after payin with some rr from first order. rite aid just like many others stores can an will change deal.with out notice so thats the way it goes it was good wail it lasted, so please instead of bashing the ppl that are doing all the work for us so that we can save save save. and just suck it up as darn didnt get that one maybe next time. this is not the place for drama it a place to line you pockets with coupons and extra cash and thanks collin I love your site. I’ve been able to shop untill i drop and not brake the bank. and will be right back out to shop as soon as the snow blows over!!!!!:)

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I just have to say that I agree…it is impossible for her to run all over town and try every single deal. It is also not necessary for me to run out and try every single deal that is posted…that is what these comments are for! So we can all help each other out. No one is forcing everyone to run out the minute she posts a deal…just to buy 4 cans of tuna.

      • Mymia4

Annie, YOU COULD CHANGE YOUR TONE. Seriously.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Wow- Are YOU serious? This is a great site, I have saved an amazing amount of money just over the last few months using it. Colin does a fantastic job, I really dont know how she does it and manages her family. If you are really that upset about a few cans of tuna and a few dollars, you need to just stop coming here. No one said you had to do any of these deals, Colin does not work for YOU. These are always hit or miss, I sometimes get up rewards I didnt even know where available, and they just say “snack item” or “food item”. Relax, and try not to be so rude and ignorant.

  15. President of Rite Aid

    Gotcha this time.

Here’s a thought, try doing the deals instead of copying other blogs. Not a criticism just a thought.

    • Annie873

      Dear President of Rite Aid:

Thank you for injecting some sense into this madness. We can always count on you to restore sanity. As long as sanity refers encouraging others to doing theirown footwork and not waste other people’s time and money.

      • Megan

Wow! I think that you both should find another blog to follow! We love Collin for all she does for us, and I’m sure your business would be appreciated elsewhere. On second thought, appreciated is probably not quite the right word…

        • Simplysara

Are you kidding me? Every deal blog references other deal blogs and it would be impossible to do them all. I am sure Collin has posted some deals that you got in on, so why don’t you start being grateful for all those deals and stop being a cranky-pants over a mistake on tuna. I wish my biggest problem in life was someone accidentally posting a no-go deal on tuna.

Also, it seems like lots of stores are printing UPs differently (I just bought the barilla and got the UPs and someone else from somewhere else didn’t) so maybe some regions are printing them for tuna.

    • Anonymous

I am thinking Rite Aid follows (spies on) Collins site to find out about deals posted then uses this info to change/manage their up rewards accordingly. Why would the president of Rite Aid bother with this anyway, doubt it was???She seems to know more about Rite Aid deals than Rite Aid themselves. Maybe it is a bait and trap set up by Rite Aid….. they always seem to post a deal then either cancel it, change it, or it randomly works for some. Of course we never know this until we go to our respective stores and try it then find out it has been removed, changed or maybe if we are lucky works,

      • PRESIDENT OF EVERYTHING

Do you really think that’s the president of RA? All you have to do is put whatever you want in the name section. (See above) Probably just another blogger, or some creep who wants to ruin everyone’s fun. People just need to grow up and find something better to do with their time.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

you’re partially right. Several stores watch the non-blog sites to monitor what people are getting. There have been many times deals have been shut down before they ever make it to a blog. Blogs in general take info from the larger discussion/thread-type sites. Not all of their info of course, but a good amount.

  16. Nicole

I have a question about Rite Aid (and Walgreens, too) shopping…
If I buy a product and it prints an UP or RR, I can turn around and use that UP or RR on a DIFFERENT product (in a new transaction)?

    • Kelly

      yep 🙂

    • Susan

at RA yes at WAGS no

      • melissa

At Wags, you most certainly can use a RR to pay for a different item. I use them to buy papers all the time. Its just that you just have to be aware of the brand maker if you’re wanting to roll them. (like if you get a RR for buying the EOS lip balm, then turn around and use that RR on the shave lotion you won’t get another RR/ But you could use the EOS RR to use towards the GO! Kids Vitamins). The only exclusion is RRs from P&G say you can’t use them to pay for another P&G item. I know ppl get around that, but I don’t think its right.

        • Nicole

Okay, thanks! I wanted to start getting in on the deals at RA and WAGS, but I didn’t want to look like an idiot if I tried to pay for an item with a reward I got from a completely different item and have them look at me funny!

  17. KatieP

Well bummer!! Must have been regional, or a lucky glitch in the system for the coupons on caffeine lady, cause it sounds like it did work for her. I’m heading out to Rite Aid tomorrow and am crossing my fingers that I’ll get the ups I’m hoping for. The past few weeks I’m pretty sure that I haven’t gotten all my ups back, but I have been too lazy to do all the math!! Thanks for your blog, Collin. Oh I do love it! 🙂

  18. scott

I think the Special K overage is dead now as well. You can still get it free with the BOGO in store stacked with the BOGO free manu Q. but I went before closing tonight and tried the bumblbee, hormel, mac& cheese and Special K…not only did I not get the monthly food $1 UP+ ($18 worth) it didn’t add onto my $20/$100 reward as it did earlier in the day – anyone else get the same. RA office were closed so I couldn’t call. Also, the new stock came in today on Soecial K where 2 boxes were shrinked wrapped together with a $1 instant savings – so they were $4.79 – but with BOGO they were $3.79 for two – the Manu Qs made them completely free. I’d love to hear if someone else had the same..

    • Simplysara

I just got back and got the $1 UPs on the Special K and Barilla (and it added to my $20/100). This was in San Diego, CA

    • mandee

if the items you bought are under Buy & Save then it may take up to 48 hrs to show up I had that problem last week but then they were there. GL:)

  19. melissa

Someone on another board said the system was down. Anytime its down, or your store is offline doing an update, UPs won’t print. Best thing to do is call or do live-chat w/a rep and tell them the Monthly Ups did not print. I did the live chat yesterday b/c I did not get the $2 school supply UP. It was quick & easy.

  20. LACEY

i also heard that if your transaction calls for 24 +UP rewards they wont print! (not $24.00 but 24 seperate +UP)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s correct. The limit is actually 28, but I wouldn’t go above 25 individual ups per transaction just to make sure. Then again, if everyone here still thinks I’m a mean, bitter crab and doesn’t want to believe me, go ahead and try it yourself 🙂

  21. mandee

when there a deal that sounds to good to be true i use my stashed up’s to do a deal like buting the food items that every one says will give the extra up just to see if it works some time it works and some times it dont no loss for me. but i do gain the knowing it the deal is good or not.

  22. Melanie

I agree with the post about not returning food. It’s not the store’s fault that an unadvertised freebie didn’t work. I know that Wal-mart can’t restock any returned food either. My brother lived out of the country and bought some cereal that wouldn’t fit in his suitcase. They said they can take it back but they have to throw it away so he didn’t return it. I know these are big corporations but we need to take responsibity for our own mistakes and not cost them money.

    • Amy

      GREAT POINT!

  23. hlmh

all the above is why i quite shopping at rite aid – too much hassle – cvs and even crummy walgreens is better than all this – i was going to go against my better judgement becasue i wanted to give all the free food to the food bank – i am so glad i read this post.

  24. Kay

I went to Rite Aid last night and bought two Spic’ N’ Span products on clearance. They were 50 cents each and I had a coupon for $1/2 so I ended up getting them for free. They were in a bin with a yellow tag attcahed for 50% off clearance.
