Just talked to Customer Service. She assured me they would reach a decision on whether or not allowing us to apply the $5 credit to these orders. She said that decision should be made before we receive the giftcard code. So, hang tight everyone. Should ya’ll receive the e-mail, will you please post about it?

I am seriously amazed that they would renig on this deal though. I cannot imagine ordering a $10 coat from Children’s Place, Target, or Land’s End, receiving it, and seeing on the packing slip they charged me $20. That would not go over very well. The gal on the phone kept talking about fraud, and I told her the only fraud I can see is a company renigging on the agreed upon sale price. It is like a company having an awesome sale…overwhelming response, so they just decide to charge more. I really hope they make the right decision to be ethical. Even if I keep the $5 credit for a later purchase, I doubt I would use it unless there is a FREEBIE from it. I won’t want to buy through them again if they do not know integrity. Just a few of my thoughts.

Agreed. I emailed them..and this is what I got back. It’s ridiculous if you ask me..I guess I either have to cancel or pay the $10 I didn’t agree upon. I think it’s funny how last night my account said $5 charged to my account, now it says $10 without any kind of notification. When they figured out the glitch or whatever else..they should have emailed everyone and at least apologized instead of just deciding to add on the extra $5

Hey, sometimes things just don’t work out. We’re sorry this deal didn’t work out for you, but we’d be tickled pink if you keep checking out our daily emails. Like a fine wine or stinky cheese, our Daily Deals just keep getting better and better each day!

If you cancel the same day of your purchase:

      1. You can cancel the order yourself.
      2. Login with your email address and your LivingSocial password (the one you used when you made your purchase) at https://livingsocial.com/login
      3. Select “My Deals” at the top right-hand corner of the page
      4. The deal you just purchases will appear under “Pending Purchases”
      5. Select “cancel purchase”

If you’d like to cancel the day after your purchase:

      1. Send a ‘Help Request’ to our Customer Care team by accessing our ‘Support Center’ at help.livingsocial.com
      2. Select “submit a help request” to request a refund.
      3. If any additional information is needed, we’ll contact you. Once we’ve confirmed your refund has been processed, it should get posted to your account within 3-5 business days, depending on your banking institution.

LivingSocial will provide a refund if you change your mind within five days after you’ve purchased your voucher and want to “return” the unused voucher. After that, refunds are extended only in cases where you are unable to redeem a voucher due to a merchant going out of business.

Please remember that once your refund request has been processed, it cannot be reversed for any reason

I am in the same frustrating boat as everyone else with agreeing to pay $5 and then having $10 charged. I can’t believe how bait and switch this whole promotion was! And the rep on the phone could not have cared any less (she was the same one I spoke to this morning who said she would call me right back and didn’t). So I went in and cancelled my order. My husband did the same. I’m only sorry that I got one of my best friends and dad in on it too. Believe me, $20 for $10 is still a great deal, I don’t deny that. But the point is, don’t allow it to be advertised as one way and then change the deal without warning after there was a contractual agreement (and don’t change your website and then act like the no deal bucks disclaimer was there all along when it wasn’t). I’d rather not give my money to a company that does business that way and then has the nerve to treat you like this is all your fault. I will not do business with them again. And the worst part is now we have to sit and wait for them to credit the $ back and then for our bank to release the funds. What a pain. So sorry to everyone that is dealing with this mess!

    • Kendra

I emailed them about that, but have not heard back yet. It seems very dishonest on their part to say that we have a $5 credit to use on our first purchase and then say that we can’t use it. I bought this deal last night and checked my account and it said I had only paid $5 for it. Today I checked my online banking and it shows that I was charged for $10. VERY FRUSTRATING! I hope they do the right thing!!

      • Lacey

I do think it would be very fraudulent to charge us twice as much. When I signed-up for Groupon, I received a $10 credit to use how I wanted. They didn’t renig. When I signed up on Gilt, they gave me a $20 credit. Sure it got me a FREE item and went towards shipping. They didn’t renig. They could have gotten slammed and decided to charge everyone the $20, but they had integrity. So, LIVEING SOCIAL, if you are watching the blogs, please do the right thing and show integrity. You may not pocket as much cash now, but in the long run many of these customers will be back. Otherwise, most of us will just be ticked off and not want to return.

I do agree with everyone here and I’m in the same situation. After this happened I went and googled them and found that fraudulent practices are pretty common with this company. As irritated as I am with this I’m glad I didn’t buy something more expensive and got screwed like a lot of people whose stories I read yesterday. Some people payed 60$, 70$ and didn’t get anything. How they are able to stay in business beats me. The government should crack down on this kind of ”businesses”. I just hope that the Amazon G cards will not have 0 balance on them and I wish I didn’t give them my CC info. 🙁

I am just as frustrated as everyone else so I went on “Site Jabber” and vented! I’ m sure if we all did that maybe we would at least help warn others of the dishonesty of Living Social! Their score as of now is only 2 out of 4!

          • Jamie

Go on their facebook page as well and complain or ask questions! They haven’t responded yet, but maybe if enough of us get together we can get an answer? They have over 1 million customers who bought through them..and I am sure a few hundred thousand last night thought they got it for $5! That’s a lot of customers they will upset!

  6. KM

Already so many of these out there, but one more for kicks. If anyone else needs to signup here is a link! Thanks so much. I signed up under Collin before I saw all of these in the comments.

ALSO, I am searching through the comments now, but did someone see something about livingsocial changing their faqs? Something about how it was clearly written in the faqs and now they are taking it back!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Actually, the link did not work for the $5 credit ~ it said I could not use it for this deal ~ BUT, I still used your link to sign up. I hope you get your 3 so yours is free!
If anyone would like, I would appreciate 3 using my link. <3 Thanks, Heidi

so do you buy the deal, then if three ppl sign up under you, you dont have to pay?

    • travis

How do you make the icon NOT be a chick? lol

  8. SS

I purchased this deal today and gave my link they provided me for me to get this credit and turns out the link they provided for me was for Collin. So, everyone who has bought from me she will get credit for. I don’t know how they screwed this up or how they will fix it. Really there is no way i don’t think. So, everyone might want to check there accounts to see if the same may had happened to you. I am not blaming Collin, so please no one think that. I think something must have just gone wrong on there site.

    • maria

how do you know that? How do you know that Collin is getting the credits instead of you?

      • SS

I compared her referral link to mine. They were different.

        • SS

Oh, i forgot to say that they said they are aware of the issue and had some technical issues today. They said they would fix the problem for me. I dunno we will see what happens.

i need just one more person – please (and thank you!)
