Just FYI I have this book and love it. It’s by editor’s of Gourmet Magazine which is no longer published. It’s like a modern Joy of cooking. It’s well worth it for anyone who cooks.
Are there any pictures in the book?
No pictures, double column text with a few illustrations
Sorry I posted anon earlier, was in a hurry. A couple of other great things in this book besides the recipes:
How to throw a cocktail party, How to organize a cheese tasting, 3 pages about salad greens an illustration & how each one tastes, 2 pages on oils/vinegars, 2 pages on pasta shapes, A primer on rice, Oyster primer,Fowl primer, Cuts of beef w diagrams, grilling tips, mushroom primer,chili pepper primer, Cream primer, & a tips & techniques section.
Be forewarned this book is heavy 5 pds. There are some illustrations but it’s pretty much all text. No pictures. Like I said before it’s alot like a joy of cooking. Really great modern recipes.

I was going to get this, but then looked at the lower ratings, which all indicate the same problem … difficulties reading the recipes in a kitchen with the yellow text/font. I have vision problems, so that was very good to know and I don’t think I will get this after all.
They did fix that problem if you read the reviews the new version doesn’t have the yellow editing.

Although I do wonder why Amazon has the prices jerking around lately… up and down … up and down. Why is it one minute this amount and then a few hours later another… and then another. I bet if I looked at this tomorrow, it would be a different price yet again.

Wow! What a beautiful cookbook! I ordered one when this posted and it came yesterday. In looking through the book I was soooo impressed with not only the recipes, but the hints and tips, not to mention the CD.
