Although I have really enjoyed reading your site the past few years, I am very disappointed in the direction you have taken it. You seem to stray from the deals and focus on other topics such as promoting products for other companies. I understand this is your chioce, and good job for you finding so many ways to make money from your blog. Personally, I want to read a deal/coupon blog where I don’t have to sift through so many non-deals and useless posts in order to find the content I am looking for. So while I do appreciate all the hard work you have done and have enjoyed your blog over the years, I will no longer be a reader.
Hi Jennifer,
I am sorry to hear that. I do NOT generate any sort of income from these giveaway posts. In fact, I am not receiving any coupons or “rewards” for posting this Wholly giveaway today. I love their products and wanted to be able to do a giveaway so some of you would have a chance to try them for FREE! π
…And on another note, I try and post lots of great deals and coupons on a regular basis. I actually post more deals and coupons than I use to. Yesterday I posted a total of 26 times – that’s a lot compared to most blogs. I really do work hard at trying to bring you all the best and most legit deals… and occasionally throw in some fun giveaways.
Collin, I would just like to say that I LOOOOOOOOOVE your blog and am so addicted that I check it probably at least once an hour. I’ve saved so much money following you and refer to you in by name when I’m talking about a deal you’ve shared (such as ‘Collin posted yada yada)…You are my virtual couponing buddy. π My 4 year old tells people she loves coupons (she makes me so proud!) and my 10 year old told me the other day it was so sad that I ran out of pages in my coupon binder and needed to get more…sad that I had that many coupons! That little stinker! So thanks for all the work you do, I’m learning so much from you!
OMG—– Don’t defend yourself Colin. You do an amazing job and if a company wants to compensate you in any way—- (coupons, free products, lemons—whatever) GREAT! You are working!!!! How dare anyone question your motives.
Of course, we are all different and have different likes, opinions and whatever, but that was a really wierd post……you are the beloved blogger of the coupon world…..how else would you have close to 75,000 followers, etc. You offer us a little of EVERYTHING which is what I think makes it so interesting, something for EVERYONE. And, as big as your site has grown, you’ve kept the personal touch as far as relating to your readers. Just keep doin’ what you’re doin’, Collin. Near 75,000 of us LOVE it!!!!
You.ll be back
Wow. I have only been reading for about 6 months or so, and am from a different area of the country, but man, the fact that you take your own time to share the deals you find with the rest of us, is really great. I follow three money saving moms type blogs, and each one is a bit different. I am so thankful for the tips, shared “secrets”, and time each of these moms shares. I find that I have learned some of these tips/tricks, and find many on my own now, so I hope that as readers undergo this same process, they stop to remember that for those of us coming along later in the “money saving revolution”, the basic things are “new” discoveries for us, so where they may not seem to be relevant posts for more seasoned money saving veterans, the newbies appreciate any and all information shared. Thanks so much, Mom, for taking time from your other job (chief mom) to help the rest of us.
If you don’t like a blog…stop going to it…I guess you were trying to be helpful but you make me nervous that you are going to stop Collin from doing what she does best. I personally LOVE the job that she does for me…and yes it is her job!! and even though I personally don’t have the money to pay her I am glad that there are companies that do!!!
Collin, Like momof3divas, I swear I think I am addicted to this blog. You’ve taught me so much and I, too, am always talking about this site. I’ve saved so much money and enjoyed lots of products I would not have normally or tried or even known about. Also, as a new blogger of my own blog as well as the owner of a marketing agency that blogs as part of our marketing plan, I respect the hard work that this site takes and appreciate all that you do. Thank you and continue to BE who want to BE and others whose needs match will follow. You’re doing a marvelous job.
I love guac too!
YUMMY!
YUM!
While I respect Jennifer’s opinion, I think it was perhaps a little too passive-aggressive. At least for my taste.
Yes, Collin, you DO post a lot of non-coupon articles – personally, I think that’s great; and you (along with some other hardworking bloggers) have really helped me get the most bang for my very tiny shopping budget. There have been many days when I don’t know how I would have kept my family well fed if it weren’t for all your hard work, and I, for one, am extremely grateful for the effort you & the other blogging ladies out there put in to your sites.
As far as having to sift through a bunch of ‘non-deals’ … there’s a whole bunch of nifty tabs at the top of my screen that allow me to navigate to the various areas of your blog easily and with a minimum of sifting. Even your daily emails have links to get to the posts I’m really interested in, to save me from going through everything. For instance, I don’t really shop online often, so I rarely visit the online deals section, but I’m an avid reader of your freebies/coupons/contests sections.
I really do believe that you offer something for everyone, Collin, and I sincerely hope that you don’t let one person’s negativity invalidate what you’re doing, or make you question the direction you’re taking.
One last thing – with the number of loyal readers that you have, I think that the companies you blog about most often SHOULD be giving you some sort of consideration for it! LOL
Maybe Wholly Guac can shoot you a year’s supply of guacamole (and then invite me over for a ‘gorge on guac’ session?) π
Keep on keepin’ on, Collin – you’re doing a fantastic job for all of us.
