What a great business tactic ~ in these times when most businesses are trying to find ways to NOT take your coupons ~ this Wags is making some friends (who will tell their two friends, who will tell their two friends, hahaha) ~

UNFAIR! lol. My walgreens spazzes at the mere thought of coupons. They see those little squares of paper and all of the sudden get suspicious of you … because, you know, they weren’t intended to be used when they were printed! *eyeroll*
Sooo true at my Walgreens too. I left and only do CVS and Rite Aid now.
Yeah, I just decided to be done with my Walgreen’s this week! I ALWAYS get the same cashier no matter what day/time I go, and for some reason she thinks I’m trying to steal money right out of her pocket or something when I try to use coupons! The last straw was when she wouldn’t accept my register rewards from the previous week because the receipt tape was almost gone, and it was a little hard to read the bar code! Literally did not accept my REGISTER REWARDS (and it was $9 worth!)….left Walgreen’s almost in tears because she was so rude to me! Stinks that she is ALWAYS working, because I’m really going to stop shopping at Walgreen’s just because I can’t handle how rude and unprofessional she is! Never have problems like this at Rite Aid and CVS….
I would call and speak to a manager. It isn’t your fault the machine needed new tape. I have done this several times, and eventually it works in my favor. I would go to corporate if that doesn’t work. I also have one particular cashier who gives me problems every time, but I educated her on the coupon policy and she seems to be a little better even though I still think she acts like I’m stealing.
Tried the whole manager and corporate thing. They like to play nice to your face, but nothing really changes. *sigh* I just find Wags isn’t worth it for me. Glad and sad to hear I’m not the only one.

You have got to call corporate and report this each and every time it happens until it gets resolved. It is the only way to get this corrected! I have done it several times because of problems with them not taking legitamate coupons and it alwa;ys gets resolved in my favor. They may still resent that I use coupons but they know better than to tell me they won’t take them. I always get names and report the names and if they value their job they better treat you with respect. I would urge you to try this and stand up for yourself because you are doing nothing wrong!!

It doesn’t matter if you didn’t able to get their name. This is happened to me, The very first time I shopped at Walgreens. I stated my problem that the cashier didn’t accept the coupons. And after a day or two a got a call from my Walgreens store and the manager told me that they will redo the transaction and gave my $12 from the coupon that they didn’t accept. And after that incident, I became one of their “favorite costumer”. I befriended with the manager and they are very polite with me and had a lot of patience. Hope you resolve the problem.
I’m right there with ya…ONLY CVS and RiteAid for me…my walgreens treats my like i’m a thief and I feel horrible everytime I try to coupon. I’ve called corporate many times and they ALWAYS say that they will correct the problem and have the manager call me, but that has yet to happen(over a 10 month period). Walgreens corporate just says stuff to get you off the phone. I will NEVER shop there again!
My walgreens has a different story. as soon as employes sees a money making deals they will hide all the stuff for themself and one favorite costmer. This store is full of corrupt employes. I went to my wags on sunday morning and i just bought one almay product. employ figured out it’s money making and in the afternoon whole entire almay section was empty.

That is FANTASTIC!!!! Kudos to that Walgreens! I would shop there like crazy! 9x’s out of 10 if I use a coupon at mine the RR wont print! So sad! ha ha! But fantastic pic!!!

Mine is too. but not that friendly about it. The good thing is they dont hide stuff forthemselves but when I go to the clearance a employee trys to run and grab what she wants first :/
That is great! Our walgreens used to be great re coupons etc but now we are in the test market for the cards and it stinks! Oh well – so glad some of you are having great expereinces!

I stopped in a Walgreens I had never been to befor to buy the Cream od Wheats and the manager told me that since the coupon did not say any size it had to be used on the larger size product. I love how they make their own rules, I had no time or desire to stand my ground as I had all the kids with me. I sure wish my favorite Walgrens would do this and have this much stock available!!
I had the same thing happen to me when I was trying to buy cream of wheat they wouldn’t take my coupon, so frustrating
The manager at my store was like that with the Mars Easter candy Q this afternoon. She tried to tell me it was only for the bags pictured. I showed her in the fine print that it specified the Dove bunny singles, and she STILL tried to say it was for the bags. She did finally take it, though.

My Walgreen’s has repeats of two cashiers: the one who doesn’t know how coupons work and wants to argue about it, or the one who DOES know how they work and gives me dirty looks the whole time.
CVS, on the other hand, has a fantastic attitude toward coupons here. I <3 CVS!
Wow my Walgreens in Davenport IA told me that the coupon couldn’t be used with the sale.And that Walgreens is canceling all the beauty and baby care book coupons because people are using them with the sales. She told me the coupons no longer worked and I couldn’t use them. (she said the diaper ones wont either) I asked her to try and she said she had earlier and they wont work. After I talked her into it she “Tried” 3 time with the wrong coupon and it wouldn’t ring in… After I pointed that out to her it worked 🙂 MAGIC!!!!

Went to my WG’s today and purchased my Almay mascara at $5.59 – $2 Q and received my $5 RR. My cashier (a soon to be mom who I thought would be my friend! LOL) made sure to tell me I could not purchase anymore Almay for another RR. Are ya’lls WG’s that picky?
I think she meant you can’t use that RR to pay for another Almay product and get another RR back. That’s called ‘rolling’ and 99% of the time it can’t be done. However, you could do the exact same transaction you did again and get another RR back – just make sure to pay out of pocket for your 2nd Almay product. Then use your Almay RRs on a different item in the store. I just think she wasn’t clear on what she was trying to convey. Does that help?
My Walgreen’s always tells me I can’t do multiple same product transaction to get the register rewards. They always give me a dirty look and say “one per person.” 🙁
Yes, I was going to save all of them and come back another time cause I knew I couldn’t roll. She said go read the policy on the front door, one RR per household per sales week 🙁 (I was going to do 5 diff. transactions) Thanks for ur response.
That’s stinky! My store isn’t like that, but I think that kind of thing is up to each store’s discretion. Bummer!!!

Which Walgreens was this picture taken? It seems like managers/corporate frequently hear the negative~it would be nice for them to hear how great this is (and maybe other stores will follow!)

It was mine in Illinois. I have the coolest cashier, 2 great managers, and other cashiers who are taught to accept coupons correctly. If you have a great cashier and you get one of those surveys at the bottom of your receipt, please fill it out online, and mention your cashier’s name in the comment section. They get certificates or credit towards free lunches or something. The manager at my Wags says I’m his favorite customer, and I never shop without coupons. 😉
Where at in Illinois? I am by Peoria and occasionally shop there. I am closer to the Canton Walgreens so normally go there.

I would love, love, love if my Wags would do this! Or at least were coupon friendly. I get the ‘you can’t stack a Walgreens coupon with a manufacturer coupon’ argument at mine all the time. I am constantly pulling my coupon policy out for something at Wags. This just shows me that if they know how the moneymakers work, that they know their coupon policy in general – such a beautiful thing! I wonder if a couponer works at this store and suggested this ….
That Wags is the complete opposite of mine. Mine usually doesn’t get the signs up on RR items before Mon. or Tue., if at all. Some RR items they don’t get and most they have a very, very small amount. Our store doesn’t get a truck in until Friday night and usually don’t get the shelves stocked until after the sale ends. What’s really strange is that the Distribution Center is in our town. Since their coupon policy, I have very few coupon problems and they all get resolved without a hassle. Most of the cashiers are really nice.
I just got back from Walgreens and I bought a lot of stuff. I bought 20 12cans of Coke, 10 Diet and 10 Zero and paid only OOP $3. and that’s the tax :D. I got a nice deal of the Nestle taster choice 7packet I paid $0.50 and I got $4 Cat. I did that 2 times so I gain $7 woot…woot!!!! and that’s few of my deals… 😀 Happy Friday!!!

I was thinking the same thing. When I went today there was 4 bottles of the eye makeup remover left and none of the towelettes. I bought 2 of those and 2 concealers and left the other 2 for someone else.
NO I never clear a shelf I buy a few items mid week then I will go back right befor a sale is over and I know they are getting a truck just so everyone around where I live gets some!!! and I always put the good sales up on my FB page and on sundays when I get my papers I always offer other couponers info on sales. Plz don’t think I am one of thoses ppl that is a grabber because I’m not!! And I share everything I get with others even if I paid something for it. and the almay is for goodie bags for a couponing party I am having to teach some of the ppl around where I live couponing.
You made that much money in one day on one product, and you aren’t “one of those people”? Just curious as to who you would define as “one of those people”?
The ones that clear the shelf the day the sale starts first thing when the store opens. and I did not just buy the remover I bought one or two of each almay items eye shadow,eye liner. mascara, eye liner/mascara double packs. and I did put the mm up wrong I made $110 total after today. went 2 the store on tuesday and again today(and they got 2 trucks today and did not put the stuff out yet) Also I am not tryin to put anyone down at all,I know how it feels when you go to the store and there is nothing there 1 or 2 days after the sale starts and some times theres nothing the whole week so I will not do it to anyone else. The pic you see up top that was the way my store was today and the girl said they have been selling Almay like crazy. I am sorry if anyone was offended by my comment did not wanna be mean to anyone!!!!! also if you could see the pic of my items you would see that hearing I made so much money off the sale items is more shocking then seeing the items meaning it sounds like I bought a whole cart full of the stuff but I really didn’t. total was 27 items but not just one type of item it was a mix.

That should be Wags new policy! Spell everything out for you! I went 2x to get the AirWick freebies and each time there were “you can’t use 2 coupons on a bogo sale” and ” the price of the coupon can’t be adjusted down” issues…. Cue the “whip out policy” time!!!
My wags told me that I couldn’t use the coupon from the beauty guide since it will produce the RR. I thought the RR’s were for a future use. She said that the coupon wouldn’t even go through if she tried. I walked out.
wow That is bull!! I wish I could send you some of my resp so that you could show her they do go through. and the Rude store mndr at my store did most of my trans today and I did 21 with no problem!! so I dont hit a bad note with any one my store has Alot of books and I asked if I could have a bunch they did not keep all the coupons so thats why I was able to do so many trans.oh and I did not clear the shelf. 🙂

Fill out those surveys (good or bad). They do pay attention at least to the good as it’s looked at for raises, store rating, etc. Most times there is a website and/or phone number with a survey code to fill out about your experience on the bottom of each receipt. Make sure to do it and list both the positive and negative things. 🙂
yeahhhhh my walgreens wouldnt let me use coupons because the wipes weren’t a “cosmetic item”. sooooo frustrating!!!!
Wow! I wish all Walgreens stores were like this. In the past couple days I went to 3 different stores. The first lady was very friendly and when I asked for the beauty guide she actually took the time to look for them and gave me one, the second store the lady had “no idea” what beauty guide I was referring to, and the third store actually had the beauty guides out! Finally! So I snagged a couple and purchased a few of the Almay eye makeup removers and my cashier was SO helpful and friendly – she had no problem doing different transactions for me, she actually told me I was much too young to know how to shop so well 🙂 I actually went back and used a couple register rewards toward the Oxy deal they have (buy one get one free, cheapest was a face wash @5.99 – if you buy two at 5.99BOGO and use one of your $5RR you only pay .99 for two +tax) and I also purchased a Venus ProSkin MoistureRich razor (on sale for 7.99, comes with the razor +2 cartridges and a hook for the shower – used a $5RR and you get a $4RR back!)
The woman at the beauty counter at my store actually pretended that she didn’t know what beauty guide I was talking about – about a minute earlier she gave one to another employee who was in line right infront of me!! Another employee ( who was in line behind me) “reminded” her about the beauty guides.
Crystal, doesn’t it take off the amount for all like items when using walgreen’s coupons? I mean if you buy 2 Almay products won’t they just scan your coupon without making you tear it out and the coupon will apply to both items?
I’m not sure, I had already had the coupons ready when I went to the register because I know that to get the $5RR for each Almay item it had to be separate order, and the Cashier had a little pocket folder by the register that she put the coupons into. I think they keep them, but I’ve never used the Wags store coupons before. Does anyone else know for sure?
I did this too! I bought a mascara for 1.93 and got back $5.00 RR. I used the $2.00 off coupon from the paper with the wags coupon.. Turned that around today and got a free pack of 31 huggies!
Something is up with this picture! There is so much stock! Does an alarm sound when you go to grab one? I was basically thrown out of Wags the other day for trying to buy just TWO Almay products! Was told I can only do one transaction a day! Uh, not! Went down the road to another Wags and did three more! I am really over how rude Walgreens employees are!

This picture is actually what my Wags looked like tonight. They had tons of Almay on the shelves and when I checked out the cashier was surprised that it generated a $5 RR…she said that was the first one she had checked out herself this week. I guess people around here (western Kansas) didn’t hear about the awesome Almay deal. But I know there are couponers around here cause any other good deal is gone by noon on Sunday!!
I’m so jealous. I wish I could get this same treatment at my walgreens. I always seem to over pay for the same deals listed here on hip2save using the suggested coupons, after I leave the store and look at my receipt in confusion for not getting the listed freebies or deals or RR . So many times I have been denied usage of my coupons there. I love Rite Aid—–never any problems there!
it’s kinda of me when I first shop at Walgreens. I paid more and than I expected but then I contacted the corporate and tell what happen and they called me to give my money back for the coupon that they didn’t use.There’s no Rite Aid here, I wish we had but CVS and walgreens is more than enough for me… I never had problem with my CVS, they are all friendly.. 😀
This is fantastic! Seeing as how Wag’s often have a bad rep when it comes to coupons. Mine is pretty good about it, but not this good.
My Walgreens is really helpful. Specially the manager. 😀 we became more confident. I show her today about the Nestle Taster Choice that producing $4 Catalina when you buy 4 and she was so surprised about it… she didn’t even know about it. And then she write me a raincheck for the reach toothbrush and told me that she will make it happen to make it there by Monday so I can pick it up and get a $4Catalina 😀 ..So happy..
WOW, now that is a HAPPY FRIDAY! And BTW.. JEALOUS, if only all the stores made it just that easy to find a deal 😉
My store had a similar display with a printout showing the deal scenario. They had balloons taped to the table and everything!

With Wags employees, I find that I can make friends with the Beauty Advisor by making sure I buy once in a while the things they get paid extra for if the sell. For example, this week they get a $1 for every Almay Eyeshadow they sell. I know it is more expensive than the removers but it just reduces the money maker by a $1 or so. It means a lot to them and there is a nice way to point out to them that you are buying the item to help her. It’s more than just the $1 they get, it helps in future performance reviews and possible raises if they consistently sell product. Today I also gave two different BA a couple of Almay coupons each. I figure it will come back to me in future patience and help. By doing this, it won’t change my life if I get 4 less Almay products but it may make them nicer to all couponers.. PAY IT FORWARD
I want to help the Beauty Advisors, but I never know which products they get the bonus for. How do you know? I don’t want to just walk in there and ask them b/c then I would feel compelled to buy it.
It is usually on the counter, this week in addition to the Almay (which I read about elsewhere), they make money on the Revlon Lip Gloss (4.99, bogo 1 50% off). It has been on every counter that I have been to this week. The front register folks also have an incentive, usually candy in the plexi display on counter.
I completely agree with this suggestion. I chat up the cosmetics cashiers, and they’ll always tell me which products they get bonuses for. Today I was picking up some of the Almay products, and the cosmetics cashier had a HUGE basket of samples at the counter. She rang me up, and we chatted about coupons – like we always do – and then she said, “Here, let me make you a goodie bag.” and dumped TONS of samples in a little bag. Then she said, “Oh, and we just restocked the coupon basket, help yourself.” Did I mention there were $1/1 Burt’s Bees manufacturer coupons? Score!
Moral of the story: BE NICE TO THE COSMETICS CASHIERS! 🙂

WOW. I never would see that in any of the Walgreens around here. I am going tomorrow to take advantage of some ad deals before the ad changes.
My walgreens was out of the almay wipes, eye makeup remover, and the airwick i motions on sunday. They got a shipment in on thursday and they didn’t order ANY almay or airwick. Nice to have a sale all week on something your not going to order!!!!!
That sounds exactly like my store!! If I’m not at the store at 8am on Sunday I don’t get any deals. And even then, they only have a couple of the items in stock and NEVER get anymore on the truck later in the week. The manager told me that they don’t order the items themselves…that the company decides how much of each product is sent and to what stores they go to.
I finally found my dream cashier at Walgreens yesterday. I seriously LOVE her! 😀 She let me do 3 different transactions and pushed the mfg coupon the wipes too. The wags coupon seems to work with no beeps on the wipes but the mfg coupon beeps, she put it through though. I was sure to buy the Almay eyeshadow which gives her $$ too!
After just being accused of coupon fraud and theft for trying to use a Wags coupon with a manufacture coupon, I think I will be skipping out on all these great deals WAGS has to offer. The manager had enough guts to tell me that he was going to call 911 and get me arrested because “I” am the reason why so many businesses are running out of business due to all the coupons. I proceeded to tell him I would gladly get arrested if I was doing something illegal — he just had to prove it to me IN their coupon policy & not just his words or what he though. He threw a fit and wouldn’t budge. Oh and to fuel the fire, as I was walking out the door, he looks at the line of customers behind me (maybe 6-8 people) and tells them that stores need to watch out for people like me because all we’re out to do is rob them of all their stuff. I cried in my car for about 15 minutes because of all the humiliation he has caused me.

OMG HOW HORRIBLE! i would call the corporation or whatever and tell them…that IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. i would have DEFINATLY cussed him out lol

WOW There is NO way he should of EVER talked to you that way PLEASE call corp, And stick up for your self!!!! If it was not for couponers these days coming in to the stores a lot of stores would be closed!!!! The stores get the money back for the coupons plus $0.08 each handling fee. That man should not be a mngr or work in any setting that deals with ppl!!! And he needs to remember you the customer are the ones that give him his pay check!!!!!

I’ve called corporate 3 times and they support the store saying that they are both manu coupons and cannot be used together which I think is bs- They are not going to send in the Beauty guide coupons for reimbursement, it is a walgreens coupon!!!!
I had that happen last month a nasty manager that turned out to be the assistant manager. Corporate sends a complaint like that staright through. I had a call within an hour. He threatened to have me arrested for “intentionally, trying to get a RR by buying $15 in food, and thats illegal coupon fraud”. He also said I was “stealing from his store, the RR costs his pocket $5, and I would have the gull to give his $5 to another location”. He followed me and harrassed me, I felt like I should call the cops. The head manager was pretty pist off. He said coupon fraud was trying to use one for a product your not buying and also taking cash out of the drawer and putting in coupons. said they have caught many EMPLOYEES doing this, not customers. He talked to me for 20 minutes he was so disturbed by the action of his YOUNG ast. manager. They sent me a giftcard. Isn’t the point of a RR for you to intentionally GET It, and using it, therefore making the store MORE money. Tell them that you don’t want the manager to call you because you don’t know if it’s HIM, they will ask you the time and verify before they have that manager call.

WOW AMAZING! now THAT store WANTS business! everyone else acts like WERE STEALING! i saw an article that said for the first time in 4 years target is cheaper than walmart by like 2 percent and i think their doing better because TARGET HAS TARGET COUPONS and are stackable but at the same time some cashiers dont know this and give us a hard time
I definitely agree with you here. I use to work for Wal-Mart and I HATED it, I can’t even stand to shop in Wal-Mart any more. So when I realized how great Target’s coupon policy was – I started to notice that not only was the coupon policy FANTASTIC but their prices are actually much cheaper than Wal-Mart. I’m so glad I have a Target within walking distance 😀
