I just used these bubbles with my son this afternoon and they are REALLY messy, we both were covered in blue and pink dye all over us. He has it in his hair all over his face and clothes, not sure if it is going to come out! I don’t think we will be using these again!

      • lynnie gandola

I was going to say the same thing. These bubbles are very messy! We used red ones and they stained my white sweater (it was a blue stain). Luckily the stain came out with Oxiclean, but I tossed the rest of the bottle and won’t use these again…

    • Karin

Yeah, my hubby told about this this morning, and we won’t buy these stuff. Even regular crayola stuff says washable, I couldn’t wash them off the stains from my kiddos’ clothes.. 🙁

    • Kate

We bought the blue bubbles and I honestly don’t see why the reviews are so negative. My 4 and 2 year old (as well as me and my fiance) were covered in blue but after about 30 minutes of playing, we stripped the kids down, put them in the bath and I immediately put the clothes in the washer. My daughter was wearing white shoes and a white shirt and everthing came out just fine. Everything washed off easily, and I wiped the bubbles off her shoes with a baby wipe. No stains to be found. I think parents just need to take the proper precautions when using them. I will note however, that pullin the wand out of the bottle is very messy. It has “teeth” to get te excess lquid off the wand but it really just makes them splatter out.

  1. Nicole

I would be very careful buying the new colored bubbles because I have read stories about skin getting stained from the product. Apparently it’s not so “washable” and I read about one Mom complaining they turned her children into Smurfs…just something to think about!

    • Amanda

My son got these for his birthday by a couple that doesn’t have children. They played with them and turned into leprechauns thankfully the next day was St. Patty’s day =0)

  2. Carla

I just wanted to double check —

“Crayola Color Wonder and Color Explosion products are on a buy 2 get 1 FREE sale”

    and

    “Deal Scenario #1:
Buy 2 Crayola Washable Colored Bubbles – 3-Pack $8.99 each (based online price)
Minus buy one get one free sale = $8.99 for both”

Is it B1G1 Free or B2G1 Free?

    • Kate

I had to reread the deal about the scenarios again. The bubbles are B1G1 and the others are B2G1. 🙂

      • Collin

Yep – you got it! 🙂 The Crayola Color wonders products are on a buy 2 get 1 FREE sale and the bubbles products are on a buy 1 get 1 FREE sale.

  3. Missie B.

My mom bought the color bubbles for my 2nd cousin for his birthday yesterday and they are going back to the store today. They make the biggest mess and do not wash off. She got the kit with the gun and it didn’t work either. It didn’t make good bubbles and most of the liquid just ran out the end making a huge mess. I am shocked that Crayola would put out such a terrible product. Buyer beware!!!

  4. Linda Hahn

We had a bad experience with the colored bubbles too! Stained my deck and a pair of my jeans, and took a whole lot of scrubbing to get it off mine and my daughter’s skin. DO NOT BUY!!

  5. Kathi B

I don’t often post here but have to comment on the colored bubbles. They DO stain and DO NOT wash off very well. I have a stained porch (even after numerous rainfalls) and stained clothing and carpets to prove this. They are a marvelous idea but the should be recalled or relabeled. They may make for wonderful art projects but only if the area is protected and you wear clothing you don’t mind having stained.

    • Linda Hahn

I think they’d be fun at a big open park with, again, play clothes you don’t mind ruining. But they make it clear they are washable when they aren’t. I agree they should be pulled!!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

oh, actually i took them to a big public park, and it stained the grass, clothes, and my nose. 🙂 wind blew them on my face. they even got on a passerby’s shorts. after putting them away, i noticed a bride there for a photo shoot. can you imagine her horror if they had gotten on her dress! these were awful messy.

  6. Penny

Thank you to everyone for the comments on the bubbles.. . I now don’t feel compelled to go get some! 🙂

  7. Traci

Thank you for letting me know how terrible these bubbles are, i was just about to put it on my to do list to put in the kiddos easter baskets, well not now!

    • Andrea

Exactly! I was nearly out the door, but came back to check for comments! Thanks to everyone who pipes in to help us all make the best decisions!! Love this site!!!! 🙂

  8. Heidi

These bubbles are a lot of fun, but my son’s blonde hair has had a green patch from a bubble landing on it for 3 days (and 3 baths with tons of scrubbing!) It came off our hands with nail polish remover, but we weren’t so lucky with clothing and hair!

  9. cammy

Oh my goodness you SAVED me!!! I was going to run out and get these bubbles.Wow thanks!

  10. Kel

I was about to buy them @ walmart when I scanned the item with my iPhone & looked on amazons website for reviews. Out of 16 reviews, 15 were 1 STAR. All saying how messy and unwashable the product is. In today’s world, reviews are EVERYTHING to a company, so I hope Crayola hears it loud and clear.

  11. Shellie

They stained!!!!! Threw away and bought the Jelly Belly scented ones at Target – only .99 and they smell just like jelly belly – come in 4 flavors.

  12. Collin

Thanks to all of you for the feedback on the Crayola Bubbles products, I have updated the post with this info. Sounds like this is a horrible product! 🙁

  13. Jodi

I was going to buy these at walmart and let my daughter open them while we shopped, right away the first bubble that landed on her jacket stained it DARK blue! Her hands were blue and everything she touched, I gave them to customer service so I didnt have to buy them, it was awful! BTW….I ended up buying the Little kids bubble tumbler and LOVE IT!!!!

    • C

Who lets their kids play with bubbles while in a store? Very dangerous if someone comes along and falls.

      • Jodi

lol, thanks for making me feel rotten….if you had to deal with the child I do, you give her anything that keeps her happy 🙂

        • C

Not trying to make you feel rotten, just know that it can happen. I found a good distraction for my little one is her own coupon binder ( just a few expired ones in an envelope) works wonders! Happy shopping:)

      • melinda k.

I carry around those little wedding size bubbles in my purse at all times. With my two little girls they are a great distraction. 🙂 I am not sitting in one spot while they play with them and my kids would eat the paper.

  14. J

I though these were neat when I saw the commercial for them. I always read reviews on new products. Thanks to everyone who gave us a heads up. I will stick with the bubbles on sale at CVS that are free after EB.

  15. Kendra

Defiantly not worth it. I didn’t even open the other two bottles. But I second the Jelly belly scented ones. they smell yummy! and they are 99 cents at target

  16. dorothy

THANK YOU all for posting your comments about the bubbles. I was considering these for my kids for Easter—and I will be not be purchasing them. Thanks for saving my driveway, my kids’ clothes, my sanity!

  17. Andrea

I purchased the bubbles for my son. Needless to say, I was so disappointed in the product that I called Crayola. They promptly sent me a $10 off Crayola product. I’ve heard I’m not the only to call/email and complain. Might not last long on the market. I’ve never been disappointed in Crayola until these!

  18. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have been reading the reviews for this and it seems like it would not be a good toy for the kids but it sounds like it could make a really cool temporary hair dye.

    • Shannon

      LOL! (c:

  19. Nicole

These are a huge joke. Crayola missed the mark on this. I thought the “washable markers” were bad as they stained a little. These stain EVERYTHING. My daughter was blue from head to toe for DAYS!

  20. Erin

I was supposed to do a promo for the colored bubbles and they pulled the plug on it. I’m guessing they will be pulled from the shelves very soon.

  21. emilytwinmom

This product dyed my twins’ blonde hair red, beware!! Poor boys had to put up with a haircut to get the pink stains out, thankfully they are young and didn’t care about their hair, just had to put up with my buzzers 😉 I completely agree this product should be relabeled!

  22. Adrian

THANK YOU! I was so looking forward to buying these for my daughter for her Easter basket and when I saw the deal at Toys R Us today, I planned to run out and get them this week. Thank goodness I saw this post first! Too bad. It seems like a great idea, but not worth the stains and extra work! Thank you ladies for posting your comments!!

  23. Jengerbread88

Just my opinion, so take it at what it’s worth, but the colored bubbles are really fun when you lay down a white piece of paper on the concrete and let the bubbles pop on the paper. It makes a really cool art project.

Are they super washable? No. However, the warnings on the product make it clear it probably won’t come out of many surfaces. If you wear old clothes, though, and intend it to land on paper or whatever, it’s plenty of fun, and worth trying out.

    • Tara S

totally agree with you. use common sense people. dont use them on your decks or porches, they say outdoors, so think GRASS!

  24. Tracey

I bought this for my son and we played with them today and he is blue from head to toe my carpet and deck is stained also.It is not coming out of my carpet very well hopefully it will with a steam cleaner. Its not as washable as it says my fingers are still blue after several washings.Kids should play with this in play clothes and far away from anything the bubbles could touch. Not a very good product.

  25. L

Thanks for all the reviews on the the bubbles, I will be avoiding this product now.

  26. Marie

Please do not buy this. I purchased two for my grandchildren. Within 30 minutes, they were covered with blue and red liquid.

The concept makes sense but the bubble liquid is way to watery and it leaks everywhere. Consider a better container and a thicker liquid that will not stay on hands and clothing.

I ended up throwing them out. What a waste!

  27. Stacie R

Thanks everyone for sharing about the colored bubbles. When I first saw them I thought wow those stain (you see it in the commercial), but then it said washable so I thought about buying them since my girls love bubbles. Won’t be doing that now!

  28. DL

Green kids and a green dog for days… all for about 30 mins of fun!!

    • melinda k.

      lol! poor dog! 🙂

  29. Shannon

Thanks so much for the head’s up on these. I was thinking of buying them for my son’s birthday this weekend. You guys have saved me from a lot of angry parents, I think!

  30. Kerri

I saw these on tv and being an lover of bubbles promptly took my 6 year old to Walmart and purchased them last Saturday night. We sat with hubby and drank sodas and blew colored bubbles outside of Walmart with employees and had an INCREDIBLE TIME one which is a keeper in the memory files. Yes we were covered with pink and blue and our clothes also…and my daughter’s hair but our clothes with a Tide Stain came out just fine, and using Johnson’s baby products we were all clean no stains…..sorry for those that have had a rough time but for us – IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY and we will buy more!!!!!!! At 40 years old with a 6 year old……the memory would of been worth it even if we hadn’t washed clean so easily!!!!!!! We love them!!!!1

  31. Boo Boo

I’ve heard these are horrible as well.

  32. jenn

Daughter got these “washable” colored bubbles for her bday last weekend. These are terrible! Messy and not always washable. They stained our deck, but did come off my daughter and her clothes, although she only was allowed to play with them for abt 5 minutes. These would be a waste of $!! Oh and she is 8. I would NOT recommend these for young or older kids. Just a very unneccessary item, more trouble than anything. I rate them an F.

  33. Amber

I also want to add a positive review. My daughter received the colored bubbles and bubble blower for her birthday. We took them to the park to play and had a great time. The bubble blower isn’t the best ever and does drip, so it’s messy, but we had no problem getting the stains out of our clothing and off of us. My daughter loves catching bubbles, so she had purple bubble coloring all over. It was adorable and fun and we really like them. I’m sorry people have been having so many negative experiences. I think that if you realize that they are an outdoor toy, you will have good, colorful fun with these bubbles.

  34. bergen

I have bought snapping bubbles at world market. they are in a smaller tube shaped bottle. you blow them and they kind of stick to things but when you pinch them they make a snapping sound. these are fun! good alternative!

  35. Diane M

Walmart has some great bubble sticks for $1 each.(made by Sun Shine) We had so much fun with them that we bought more for my grandaughters’ summer birthdays.

    • savysaver

I was just going to say the same thing. The bubble sticks at Walmart have colored solution (but not colored bubbles) and some are scented and DO come off of clothing, They are messy, as with any bubble product, but fun to play with. Only problem is when you get to half full/half empty it is difficult to get the solution to cover all of the wand due to the large size.

  36. amanda

we bought the bubbles and they are fun for the kids but they make a big mess! so be ready to give everything a bath

  37. Maegen

I know you can buy bubbles cheap, but I just wanted to mention that you can make them even cheaper, and it’s very easy.
You don’t have to use glycerin, either.
The recipe I use is just Karo syrup, dish liquid, and water! You can make a giant vat of them, and while they aren’t colored, they get much bigger than the regular ones, and making them adds to the fun! We use the rings that go around jam jars to blow the bubbles.

  38. Kira G

Just wanted to drop a quick note about using the bubbles for an art project. I teach preschool and we would put about 1 teaspoon tempera paint (VERY washable) and 3 Tablespoons water and a few drops of dish soap in a bowl. Insert straw and blow bubbles until the overflow onto the paper. Fun project, cheap, and WASHABLE! 🙂

  39. Ashley

My daughter and I played w the colored purple colors bubbles, they are messy but fun. I had no trouble getting it out of her clothes or off of her. We did wash up right after playing and the bubble dye came off no problem. The bottle does say it may require a few washes, however, they Did not. They make for adorable pictures too.

  40. Ashley

Sorry about the typo…. the purple colored bubbles

  41. Nicole S.

Color Wonder products are bought by our household in bulk because we love them and our daughter just loves them too.

Spent over a month looking for these bubbles and was SO excited to try them.

Finally found them, and the “bubble gun”.

    WHAT A DISASTER!!!

Our daughter tipped the bubble gun down for about 3-5 seconds and about 2/3 of the bottle of bubbles flooded out of the gun.

What remained only about 1/4 of the bubble actually floated into the air (slightly), and the rest made big bubble globs that just leaked down the bottle cartridge.

Hoping it comes off of all of our shoes and daughter’s clothes.

The color is so saturated that I am a bit worried though…

As an avid Color Wonders product fan, I give this a D.

Might POSSIBLY try them again with a regular bubble wand but basically a big waste of money….

So sad, I was really excited about these that combined 2 of my daughters favorite things!
