With so many new Hip2Save readers, I thought I would mention one of my favorite survey sites. In addition, to being rewarded with cash for taking surveys, Toluna Panel Members also have the opportunity to test out products for FREE as a Toluna product tester! If this sounds right up your alley, then you’ll definitely want to sign up for the Toluna Panel Community!

Toluna is an online community dedicated to making your voice heard. By participating in surveys, you tell the world’s leading providers of products and services exactly what you think and you earn rewards. Plus, each month Toluna panelists are considered to test products ranging from household cleaning products, pre-packaged foods, iPads, electronic equipment, make-up, hair care products, toiletries, pet food and pet-related products, beverages, and more! If a product testing opportunity arises, you will either get an email, or will see notification when you’re on the Toluna site… you will then be required to go through a screening process to see if you are eligible to test that specific product.

Here’s how the survey portion works…

* Upon completing the Toluna registration, you will automatically be entered into the monthly $4,500 sweepstakes AND you will receive an initial 500 points!

* Survey Completion: Earn at least 1,000 points, or more, for each survey you qualify for and complete. Points awarded vary by survey. Since signing up, I have received emails on a daily basis to complete surveys valued at 2,100-9,000 points!

* Survey Participation: If you attempt to take a survey, but do not qualify for the study, you will still be rewarded with an entry to the monthly cash sweepstakes offering more chances to win…three lucky winners each month win cash prizes of $2,500, $1,000, and $500, plus two winners snag prizes of $250!

* Personal Interest Survey (Profile) Completion: You can earn additional points by completing the personal interest surveys. Each completed interest survey is worth an additional 600 points. Complete all 15 profiles to earn an additional 2,000 points over and above the points awarded for each profile!

Here’s the best part…the points you earn can then be converted into cash rewards or entries to their monthly $4,500 drawing! Basically, 3,000 points = $1. So when you have reached a minimum account balance of 60,000 points, you can request a $20 check; when you have reached a minimum account balance of 75,000 points, you can redeem your points to go shopping with a $25 VIP Gift pass voucher; or when you have reached a minimum account balance of 500 points, you can submit an entry for the $4500 monthly sweepstakes.

I have been a Toluna member for about a year now, and I really like it. I take multiple surveys a day, and they range from 5-30 minutes. The average survey pays $0.50-$3.00, but occasionally you’ll come across one that pays $5.00 or more. Also, and this is my favorite part, sometimes they’ll send you a product to try, keep, and do a survey on. I’ve gotten a whole line of full-size Herbal Essences products, a 1 oz. bottle of Lacoste perfume, 4 boxes of Quaker Oat cereal, 2 boxes of Stouffer’s stuffing, and 6 rolls of Charmin toilet paper just to name a few!

I’m involved with several survey companies and Toluna is one of the best. I get checks on a regular basis so it is definitely one to try out. Happy saving all!

Yay, I just got a $20 check from Toluna yesterday. It’s funny how different the rewards can be for their surveys – sometimes you’ll get an invite that says “duration: 30 mins, get 3000 points” and sometimes you’ll get “20 minutes, get 19000 points”. I don’t bother with the lower paying surveys (although I suspect those are the ones that get you the product tests, but oh well), I do about 1 or 2 surveys every other day, and I’ve received 4 checks since I signed up with them.

If you are a current Toluna member, let us know what you think and how time consuming the surveys are! Also, let us know if you have ever been selected as a product tester?

I participated for the surveys for at least a year – never chosen to sample any products. Also I wasted so much time on surveys “qualifying” and not being chosen to finish the survey. I never got anywhere near 60,000 pts either. I find other survey places much more rewarding and less time consuming!

me too I was about to say that. I never got any samples and never qualified rarely

Hi Which other sites are more rewarding if you are willing to share the info? Thanks for your help, Barbara

      • Jamie

Barbara,I am a member of Opinion Outpost, SurveyHead, I-psos, Mysurvey, Synovate, Global Test market (this is the only one I have yet to cash out at because I never seem to qualify often enough). Opinion Outpost is really good. They used to let u cash out at $5, but recently changed to $20, but u earn quickly.Pinecone is really good too. U automatically qualify and earn money that they send u right away. Hope that may help.

I’ve been with Toluna for about 6 months now and I’m just about to request my 3rd $20 check.. I’d say I attempt about 10 surveys a week, and usually only qualify for the 1/2 of them, compared to the couple of other survey companies I’ve signed up with (Mindfield & PineCone), Toluna is definitely the most time consuming (by that I mean you get 5+ minutes into the survey and then they tell you you aren’t qualified or your demographic is over-quota). I’ve never been selected as a product tester for Toluna (I have 3 times already with Mindfield!) but it’s how I justify sitting on my bum and indulging in all of the reality TV shows I like, I do the surveys while I’m watching them!

      cute 😉 me too lol

I have been a member of Toluna since September. I have received four $20 checks and three $25 Amazon vouchers but I have never been asked to test a product. I am also a member of a bunch of other survey sites and Toluna is my favorite. (Opinion Outpost is my second). If you take a few minutes every other day to do the sponsored surveys, your points can add up pretty fast. Occasionally you’ll get into a survey that way as well. There are a TON of survey opportunities. I do screen out a lot, but still get into about 1-2 surveys about every other day.
My husband has also had pretty good luck with Toluna. You won’t get rich by any means, but it helped us buy a lot of our Christmas presents last Christmas!

  4. Tommi

I tried to register and it said
‘Your request could not be completed
    please try again later.”

I NEVER qualified for a single survey! I don’t see how everyone is getting paid. It takes SOOOOOOO long to go thru the “qualification questions” and then I just get rejected. I have seriously wasted WAY TO much time with this company. I wouldn’t recomend them unless you have a ton of free time to fill out survey questions to see if you even “qualify” for a real survey. Very disappointed.

Does anyone have a problem redeeming rewards at mypoints? My account says that they are having tech issue and are not able to process it, and it has been more than a week! I may want to switch to Toluna…oh well…

    • Raluca

It’s working again, but the Amazon gift cards are “temporarily unavailable” (I wrote to customer service because I was very disappointed).

  7. McKenzie

I have been a member of Ipos i-say for a few years. It is pretty awesome. I have tried several products at home. I get surveys on a regular basis. Right before Christmas, I was able to redeem my points for a $75 American Express gift card. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I have been doing Toluna now for a few months and have already gotten 4 $20 checks and I am waiting on a $40 check.. It is nice because you can go on there and do surveys when ever you want, you don’t have to wait for them to email you one… I did one today for 45,000 points, I was so excited!!! I normally only get 3,000 point surveys.. You need 60,000 points for $20..

  9. jennifer

like some others, i too never qualify for anything on toluna so i don’t even bother anymore. i’ve had better luck with other survey companies. i also signed up for bzzagent when collin posted about it last month and have now received 3 full-sized products to try out. 🙂

I’ve been with Toluna since last September and to date I have made 100 dollars doing surveys, posting opinion topics, voting for points. If your topics are popular say 25 or more people commented on them you’ll earn bonus points 100 to even 2000 points. Be active and you could be promoted and earn additional bonus points. I’m currently at the Intermediate level. I don’t try for surveys that would take more than 20 minutes and have gotten burned doing 25 minutes survey to only find out in the end I didn’t qualify, but I’m pretty happy with Toluna. A while back when this topic came up about joining Toluna, I said I’ll try, and now here I am reporting to you that Toluna is easier than qualifying for Pinecone Research.

    • Christy G.

Hi Autum, How do you find out what level you are at? I can’t seem to find that info. Thanks!

  11. Christa K.

I tried doing it for several months & eventually gave up & ignored the emails. I hardly ever qualified for a survey – or it would say no more responses were needed – so I never got anywhere as far as earning anything. (Been doing Pinecone Research for a few months now though & very happy with that.)

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I personally do not like Toluna. They send MANY emails every day and it takes forever to accumulate points. Plus you don’t qualify for most of them. I prefer Surveyhead. They only send about 1 email a day, you automatically get a $5 credit when you sign up, and they have a system where you put in everything about yourself (earning credit for each profile section) that does pre-screening for you. You don’t earn cash, but you earn Amazon gift cards and other things.

  13. Cathy

Ok, this is weird. When I registered, somehow it came up United States (spanish). I cannot change it. So I emailed them and the response came back in Spanish. I have no idea what it says. Oh well!

  14. JENNY

HATE EM. I HAVE LOGGED IN TO TONS OF SURVEYS AND I NEVER QUALIFY FOR THE BIG POINT ONES. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED MONEY OR PRODUCTS.

  15. Katiria

Toluna is all about POINTS and they EXPIRE after a certain amount of time, It took me 1 whole year to get close to their threshold of 60,000 points ($20) to cash out then suddently 18,000 points expired before I could get my last 8,000 to cash out. It made me so mad I canceled my account. I prefer to stay with companies like surveyhead and socratic they give actual money not points.

  16. Lpmousse

I really like Toluna. It’s given me two $20 checks so far and I’ve been a member since November of 2010. While I don’t qualify for many surveys, it’s fun to get 15-30 points for the short answers, thought I do get a little bored of answering the same questions, and getting directed to the same surveys only to be told I’ve already taken them. Yup! I knew that!

  17. DrLadybug

Sorry to agree with the nay-sayers, but I had been a Toluna member for several years (even back to when they converted from My2Cents). I lost count after 30 surveys in which I would spend at least 20 minutes providing my data/information, get an obvious closing/wrap-up message, but then be told that I didn’t qualify for the survey. So, I got NOTHING (no points, NEVER any test products) for tons of surveys and countless hours of work. After nearly a half-year of this (plus waiting over a month before getting a customer service response on every complaint), I bailed. Totally not worth your precious time. As Jamie states above, SO many other good survey groups out there, far more worth it than Toluna. 🙁

  18. aysha

I am with PINECONE and looovee them! i have been doing surveys abuot 1x every week…and recieve $3 each suvey. they have never sent me a product to test, but my brother signed up recently and they already sent him a product to test…its all based on qualifications i think.
i am also part of loreal survey and have done many screenings (5 questions max) and have qualified for a few testings…i even filled out a form today and they will send me compensation (products) in a few weeks,,ill make a pic when i get it .
i joing isay today. lets see how they are.
i never upload videos for expo, so i canceled on them. and the whole point system in other companies bother me, esp when i never qualify

  19. smarshall

I just signed up for Toluna — and in my first survey attempt they said the survey sponsor needed my name and address. It freaked me out…and I just clicked out of it. Is this a normal request for Toluna surveys?
I have done surveys for other companies, but I’ve never had to give out personal information for an individual survey.

  20. Lynn J

More often than not I don’t qualify and I get a mesage like this – Thank you for participating in our survey today. We’re sorry, but the quota group that you qualified into is complete, so on this occasion, we will not be asking you to complete the remainder of the survey. Alot of the time it’s a survey that says 20 min or whatever and I spend about 10-12 min or roughly half the survey time answering questions only to get this message.

It’s very defeating to spend 30 min or more taking survey’s only to not qualify for 99% of them. I prefer Pinecone. At least I get paid for every survey they send me plus I’ve sone several product tests.

  21. Sandy Shoes

I’m curious about all the people that never qualify, since I am a member of several survey sites, do you have children? I’ve often wondered that because I don’t have any children if that automatically disqualifies me from much of the intended audiences?
