In honor of Autism Awareness Month it is only appropriate to highlight two fantastic companies that specialize in products that help kids with autism and that when combined offer something unique!  TapToTalk™ from Assistyx LLC, allows you to use a Nintendo DS, DSi, DSi XL, DS lite, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Android device, PC, Mac, Netbook, or Tablet to communicate. Give your non-verbal child the portable, affordable, and socially acceptable communication device that he/she will be able to carry in their backpack or even in their pocket. Best of all, you can use one device or several different devices, because you get free TapToTalk™ Apps for all their platforms with your subscription.

Hetland Multimedia was initially created to offer the stimuli needed for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs for children with autism through the use of photographic flash cards. This company offers a subscription based site which allows you to print off your own photographic flash cards which have many uses…they can be used by teachers, speech therapists, day care centers and parents! Not only are these flash cards beneficial to children with autism, but they can help teach typically developing children as well with simple programs such as colors, opposites and associative matching.

Now, here’s the fun part! TapToTalk™ Designer and Hetland Multimedia can be used together. You customize what your child sees and hears in TapToTalk™ on a web site called TapToTalk™ Designer. With it, you build “albums” that fit your child’s needs…you can add your own pictures, including thousands of photographic images from Hetland Multimedia and either record your voice or use text-to-speech. And TapToTalk™ works with all languages.

During the month of April (in honor of Autism Awareness month), Hetland Multimedia is offering Hip2Save readers a special discounted price of $29.99 for an unlimited lifetime membership. That’s $10 off the regularly priced lifetime membership of $39.99! In order to receive this discounted price, you must email Rachel over at Hetland Multimedia at pixit@hetlandmultimedia(dot)com and mention that you are a Hip2Save reader; she will then send you an invoice for the discounted price.

Thanks to TapToTalk™ and Hetland Multimedia, 1 lucky Hip2Save reader will win a free one year subscription to TapToTalk ™ and an unlimited lifetime membership to Hetland Multimedia of their very own ($140 value)!! In addition 3 additional lucky Hip2Save readers will each win lifetime subscriptions to Hetland Multimedia ($40 value)!!

This is a wonderful giveaway and a great idea for children with autism to be able to use this form of communication on socially acceptable media. I love this idea and will share it with my students families.
Also, I hope that only people who would actually have a need for this product enter this giveaway.

I am an ABA therapist and I love that this deal is going on. You’re right, ABA does work. I’ve seen amazing progress in my kids’ lives and hope that this giveaway goes to someone deserving who can truly benefit from it. I would love to have it myself to use in therapy, but don’t have a device to use it on! Good luck on continued progress with your child’s therapy!

I just answered…..I have been following you for a while and I was so happy that you have taking the time to recognized autism. My son, who is 9 has autism, has had it since the age of 2. Caring for him over the years has been a struggle, especially in the areas of speech and communication. This offer would be wonderful, for my son or any other family’s child affected by autism. I also wanted to let your readers know that Mellissa Winter @ https://www.thepuzzlingpiece.com has a way for children to win a free Ipad. She is a maker of jewelry had if you sign up for the Ipad fundraiser, when you have sold 60 pieces of jewelry, your child gets a FREE IPAD. We are almost done with our fundraiser with only 20 more pieces to sell. She is totally legit, I was told of the fundraiser from another mom who has a child with autism, who has already received theirs. Any family can sign up, there are no restrictions, and no limits to the number of families that can join, you can go to her website and you can even call her. I did just to double check when I first started, she called me within 2 hrs of my message.
So please do check her out if you are looking to get a Ipad for child but can’t afford one. If your not touched by autism, but have a giving heart you can visit my sons tumblr site @ https://mymanyautisticways.tumblr.com, and help my son Marley get the last 20 donations he needs to reach his 60 !!

Thanks Collin, again for supporting ” April is Autism Awareness Month”…….I know you have like a million followers, so more people will maybe take the time to learn about autism, and spread more awareness.

My 5 year old daughter had been diagnosed since she was 15 months old. She is non-verbal and has many sensory and developmental delays. These are awesome products. We used PECS cards like these for a few years. We have been doing ABA therapy for 3 1/2 years now and it has been amazing. She also does a slew of other therapies but music therapy has been amazing for her. If it is available for your child push for it. There are many was to get different things for your autistic child. It does take some leg-work but it so worth it. They get a waiver into the medicaid program to help cover the many huge medical bills your primary insurance might not fully cover. There is also ‘durable medical equipment ‘ that insurance and the waiver will cover for your child. Such as special needs stroller to keep them safe, a car seat with 5 point harness to hold up to a 130 pound child and a Dynavox (google it if you don’t know what it is). The Dynavox has been an amazing speech device for her that will grow with her and is made to be durable for a child like her. Diapers/pull-ups are also insurance covered with the proper paperwork when they are over 3 years old. I have found most of these and other things out the hard way and by mistake. I am a stubborn person who doesn’t take no for an answer.
I am sure who ever wins these will make great use of them!

    • Susan

Replace ‘stubborn’ with ‘tenacious’! I hope that you are participating in a parent support group where you live because you could help others just starting out in the role of parent advocate.

Thank you for this giveaway and introducing me to this company. I think this is great. I have two autistic sons and my 10yo is non-verbal. This could really help us. We hope to win, but if not, at least this opens the door on perhaps another opportunity to help him, and for that, THANK YOU!

  11. Tammy

My 7 year old son has Autism. Thanks for doing this!!!

  12. Amanda Biel

You see Collin, this is why I freaking love you! lol. You are awesomely unique from other blogs! I didn’t see any other blogs even recognize that this month was autism awareness month. And not only do you recogonize it, but you hold a giveaway! As a mommy of a 3 yr old with autism, it’s good to know there are some people out there who truly care about our little ones. Thanks again,
    Amanda

Collin, this is a wonderful giveaway. My youngest son is autistic and was completely non-verbal until 4 years old ((I do mean completely non-verbal didn’t even know the word “no”). After years of work and great people he is in 7th grade and getting A & Bs in a regular classroom with no accommodations. I think that this could really help someone. YOU ARE A SAINT TO COME UP WITH THIS!!! WAY TO GO!!

  14. Cynthia

My toddler daughter has not been diagnosed with autism but has cerebral palsy and verbal apraxia along with other medical conditions. Photographic flash cards have been a huge success and therefore I have high hopes for these wonderful products as well. Even if we don’t win I am extremely thankful that these 2 fabulous companies were mentioned here and now I that I became aware of them, will obtain their products/services in the near future. Like many of you, I was so happy to see Collin put this up as a giveaway and good luck to those who entered!
