Does anyone know if they take coupons? I’m wondering if it’s worth for us to be a member…

    • A

No, they do NOT take coupons. They accept formula checks though

    • misty

Sams Club is awful. Its dumb to me to have to pay extra to get in earlier and to get coupons! costco is sooooo much better, produce is better, better customer service. Dont waste your money!

    • melissa

no, they don’t take coupons. The only thing I get from Sams is milk, bread, eggs, and a few other things that hardly ever go on sale or have coupons.
The only reason I have my membership is b/c dh’s BIL has a company account, and he pays for our membership. Otherwise I wouldn’t have one.

      • Karin

Thanks ladies! Since they don’t take coupons, that’s not good for us. Too bad we don’t have Costco around here.. 🙁

Misty, I think it just depends on your preference. I was a member of Sam’s Club (through work) and Costco at the same time and gave up my Costco membership because they didn’t carry the name brand items that I preferred. Additionally, I’ve never had any problems with customer service or produce quality so it really is preference only.

I also am a member of both Costco and Sams right now. They both have their advantages. Costco has a better return policy on electronics, but Sams carries a few brands that I prefer. If I had a family, I would definitely join Sams over nothing. Buying in bulk saves a lot of money and the food is better quality than regular grocery stores offer.

  5. Deborah

I’ve never been to sam’s club. Can anyone give suggestions for good items to buy there and prices?

  6. Michaela

I am not a Sams club member but I am a member of both Costco and BJs. (My Dad’s bsiness has memberships so I get mine for free.) I like both, BJs is closer so I use it more often for items like pasta, sauce, and diapers. As well as personal care items sometimes. BJs accepts manufacture coupons and has their own coupons that you can stack. Costco has more bulk items, and I like it for gifts during the holidays.

thanks for letting us know, my mom wanted to try that chicken garlic sausage that was in that ad but we don’t belong to Sams!!!!

I have found that meat, produce and such are a great buy at Sams club if you don’t have any stores that allow overage to get these. If you like good cheese they rock. 5 oz at walmart for kerrygold cheese is 4.98 or 2lbs at sams for 9.89. hth! I have had a membership for 14 years.

I work for the marketing company that is working with Sam’s for TOS. There will be 250 cookbooks each day for existing members who give their e-mail address and cookbooks at the membership desk for all NEW members. Sam’s only excepts Sam’s coupons… no Man. coupons. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Did you guys know Sam’s gives a 200% refund on meat, dairy, and produce that goes bad? I’ve had fruit get moldy too soon and they give back double what you paid for it….you just have to ask!

Does the elimination of non-member upcharge apply to the entire purchase or only the promotional items?

I went today and had a good time sampling and I got my cookbook with no problem. I buy monster energy drinks there because its so much cheaper than buying them at a gas station. I also buy snacks for lunches.

I went this morning to do some shopping for work. I don’t have a personal membership, just a card through work. The lady asked if I had received any information by email and I said no. All she did was take my email address and I got a new cookbook. It’s a nice quality too. I was expecting a small paper recipe booklet. This is hardcover, has about 130 pages. Great deal. Thanks Collin!!

we went today too and was very disappointed. First of all, you have to go to the membership counter to get a temporary pass. A detailed form is filled out with way to much personal information from phone numbers to drivers licenses requested. We did not feel this was necessary so we simply skipped that and went in search of the free samples. We decided we simply would not buy anything.
I wouldn’t have called it a tasting event, more like a cracker with cheese, some yogurt and half a stale muffin…..samples were nearly non existent and many food stations were there with no one to serve anything. I would have expected that had it been close to closing time but this was at 2pm. I will never go to Sams again, false advertising and tempting food pictures only to lure you in.

  15. Hollie

My 2 year old daughter and I actually had a really good time at this event. We had a free afternoon so we went in to check it out. The samples were alot better than walmart and they actually seemed glad to give you a sample unlike walmart where they act like your stealing from them or something. My daughter had grilled salmon, yogurt, sausage, bbq beef, then angel food cake, fresh berries, with whip topping. I don’t really have the room to buy in bulk like they sell but some items I saw were a good price. I don’t understand why they don’t accept coupons though. If they did it might make the choice weather to buy a membership or not an easier one. I’m not sure that it’s worth $40. The one thing I saw before going into the store was gas. The price they had on gas was $0.08 cheaper/gallon than anywhere else in town. I was also excited to see 30 cupcakes for $13! We normally pay $30 or more for a cake at walmart so this looked like a good deal for taking to school. No cutting and they looked really good. The one thing I did buy was a Carter’s dress for my daughter that was $7. They also had Carter’s infant outfits for $2.80 which would have been a good deal if I knew anybody having a baby.

I love the employee cookbooks. However it seems when you have the event, the workers never have them to give out and only a select few take an interest to try to get one for the customers and each time to no avail. I went to two locations and spent tons of money and still no cookbook. Very disappointed it has happened to my son as well. Is there one that I can possibly receive? Best regards.
