Woohoo!  I’ve received a few emails lately about a *HOT* unadvertised deal on Frito Lay Chips and Sunflower seeds at CVS!  It appears that there is a promotion whenever you buy 3 Frito Lay chips or Sunflower Seeds, you’ll get back $1 Ecb (limit 5!).  And, the best part, it seems to be working on the small bags of chips!  Yay!  Here’s how you can score a great deal…

Buy 3 Frito Lay Chips = $1 Ecb (limit 5!) *Unadvertised promotion*
Deal Scenario #1:
Buy 15 bags of single serve Frito Lay Chips on sale 3 for $1
Total = $5
Get back a $5 Ecb
Final cost – 15 bags of FREE chips!
*Keep an eye out for a sign regarding this promotion near the peanuts and sunflower seeds

Deal Scenario #2:
Buy 3 Sunflower Seeds $0.50 each
Total = $1.50
Get back a $1 Ecb
Final cost $0.50 for all 3!

Keep in mind that this deal is *not* advertised in the weekly ad, so be sure to look for the signs in your store near the peanuts and sunflower seeds in case the Ecb’s don’t print.  I have not personally tested this deal, so I can’t verify that it will definitely work and I’m not sure how long this promotion will work on the smaller bags of chips. If you’re wanting to possibly snag FREE chips, I’d suggest doing it sooner rather than later!  Please come back and let us know in the Comments if you’ve tested this deal and if it worked for you!  Thanks!

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Seeds worked …not the peanuts 🙁

    • Jennifer S

      Which peanuts did you try?

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    Seeds worked…peanuts didn’t 🙁

  6. meryl

worked for me at lunch today in CA- but my store did not have the small bags of chips so I did the nuts- the cashier was in shock and thanked me! Altho I really didn’t want the chips [trying to be GOOD on the diet] I really wanted FREE CHIPS!! 🙂

  7. Tamara

I always need extra snacks for all the kids activities I just got a $5 ECB for taking a survey so this will be a great deal if it works! Thanks Colin!!!

    • jamie

I did the survey too and got 5 ECB!!! 🙂

      • JenL

        where is the survey?

        • jamie

I got mine in my email.

          • JenL

thx! Couldn’t find mine in email tho.

      • Deb

Folks are recving invites this week for an upcoming CVS survey to take place this Sunday-comparing WGS and CVS ads.
        You will receive $10. ECB’s.

  8. JenL

This is great! My 11 yer old was JUST asking for chips today and I didn’t want to buy them. She says this deal is awesome! I really hope it works!

  9. JenL

iheartcvs.com says that this deal is good until 6/18! I’ll be getting free chips every month for my 3 kids if that’s the case

    • Sherrie

      🙂

  10. Jennifer M.

Now, if I can find the chips! One store i checked today didn’t carry them. I’ve never seen .33 cent bags in the stores.

  11. Gsb

What survey? The one on the bottom of the receipt?

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh thanks! What a HOT deal! =) Posted and linked back…wish I lived by a CVS. 🙁

  13. sparkling

Where did you do the survey? Was this in an e-mail?

  14. jamie

If I buy 15 bags of chips and get 5 ECB can I buy 15 more pay with the previous ECB and get 5 more?

    • JenL

Absolutely…if you can find 30 bags. I have 3 kids who take school lunches so I was planning to get 30 as well. The deal is good for a while so you may be able to get them ordered.

    • may

no, the limit is 5 ecb

      • JenL

Oh I see what you are saying. Yes you can get 15 more bags of chips, but No you will not get 5 more ECB.

    • Brianna

No because the limit is 5. That means you are buying your full limit when you purchase 15 in one transaction. Thats why you are getting $5EB back (because an individual ‘deal’ would only be $1EB back). HTH and not confuses!

      • Linda Hahn

But you can go back and buy 15 using the ECBs. So in essense, I guess she’d be buying 30 bags for $5.

        • fldukes

The deal will be linked to your extra care card. If the limit on the deal is 5, that’s 15 bags per card NOT per transaction. You can only get 30 bags if you have 2 extra care cards.

          • Linda Hahn

You can still “buy” 15 more using your $5 ECBs. You just wouldn’t get $5 ECBs back.

  15. bkw11608

OMG!!! it works you guys. My CVS does not have the 3/1 chips but did have the peanuts and sunflower seeds. i talk to the gals at my CVS, they know me pretty well now, they had no idea about it and when it worked they were amazed. Go for it y’all!! have fun and good luck!!!

    • Annie

Wow I am really tempted to go out and try this deal out! at 3 in the morning!! Haha but I won’t… I am going to be so mad if they change the size restriction tmrw!

      • bkw11608

Well i did go out at 3am and got the deal. so i say got for it!!!

  16. bkw11608

OH by the way. the men dove+care deodorant, they say the limit is 5 but it still rings up .99 cents after the 5th one so getting a couple extras is ok but just dont clear the shelf. leave some for other people.

    • debra

It is a better deal at Walmart. Price matched and bought the dove with sample body wash attached and received $1.02 overage.

      • tereza

how did you get overage? I have price matched in target and used target coupon from their website. but would love to get overage in walmart.

        • debra

I bought 2 and used the $3 off 2 coupon from coupons(dot)com that was available. Walmart gives overage now if the coupon exceeds the price of the item. They actually gave me cash back on the second transaction as I had to purchase some of the dove in a second transaction due to the CVS ad stating limit of 5. I also used the KY coupons for overage in the past. Loving the overage.

        • Alea

The new Walmart coupon policy allows overage on coupons so if use a $1 off coupon on a product for 99 cents, they will give you a penny back. Target doesn’t allow coupon overage. They will mark coupons down to the price of the item. Hope that helps!

    • Annie

I just tried to price match this at Target and the cashier did not let me because she said it was a card price at CVS… :-\ I wasn’t too confident about price matching so I just let it go. Has anyone else tried this at Target?

      • Annie

Wait! I just read Tereza’s comment haha. So it is possible to do this at Target? How would I counter argue the cashier’s statement about “card prices” at CVS?

        • Windy weather :(

Simply put, it is not a card price for .99cents. Only to recieve the ECB you need a cvs card. I do not have a cvs card and the sale prices still ring up, same as Rite Aid, you only need the welness card to get the UP . Now at Walmart they honor the bottom line price with a card. So if it was 99 cents and you got back 50 cents, walmart will now match it for the 50cents. Hope this helps.

  17. debra

My CVS did not have the chips on sale. Boo. Cashier said she has never seen the small bags go on sale at that store in 3 years???

  18. franfran

Going today hop they have them at my store!!

  19. Mitch

I just shopped at a CVS i Washington, DC while on vacation. I bought 3x $.99 bags of chips, and ended up witht hat $1 ecb and now I know why!
    thanks
    http://www.gaynycdad.com

  20. Melissa

It worked for me buying 15 bags of chips and there were a TON. They were by the coolers (milk/eggs/drinks) on top of a soda pop rack. I got the 5ECBs back!

  21. Cindy Drago

WOW I hope it works at my CVS! I didn’t see them on sale for 3/$1 in my store flyer (upstate NY). Is the sale price an unadvertised special as well? I am going to go on lunch today and try it out. Thanks Collin!

    • Gayle

I live in upstate NY as well can you let me know if this worked for you cuz as you stated it is not listed in the flyer! Thanks

      • Cindy Drago

I couldn’t find small bags at my one CVS. I might be able to try another, bigger, CVS in my travels tomorrow.

  22. kathleen

my CVS only carries the “big grab” size, not small, individual size. They’re .99/each, not ringing up any lower on the in-store scanner this morning…so not as great a deal here in OK, but excited for those who are getting this awesome deal!

  23. Lisa @ Drugstore Divas

Does anyone have a picture of the smaller bags? And what comes in the smaller bags [[Fritos? Doritos?]]. If anyone has an image, that would help me SO much. I don’t think we have the smaller bags here.

    • Holly

The smaller bags say 3/$1 in the upper left hand side. Sorry, I don’t have any pictures.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

you can see the pic on the top of this page.

  24. Carol S

Thanks Collin. My CVS in Greenville, SC did not have the chips but they did have the sunflower seeds and peanuts. There were no signs up in my store but I did receive 1EBC for every 3 single serve bags of sunflower seeds and peanuts.

  25. Ashley

ours cost 1.29 for the small bags and no signs we even price checked it maybe next week we will get the deal if you all have to code number that makes it give you the ecb after your transaction please let me know then we can get the deal. I live in jacksonville nc

  26. Sandra Lee

Remember ladies, at CVS, you don’t need to buy all 15 bags of chips at once to get the $5 ECB. You can buy a couple this week, a couple next week, etc. and when you reach 15 purchased, you will receive the $5 ECB.

    • melissa

actually, for every 3 you buy, you’ll get a $1 ECB back. Its a limit of 5, thats why Collin did 15 bags, so you’d get 1 $5 ECB back. But you can do 3 bags, and get $1. Great fillers on weeks when not much to buy. I have a $2 ECB that will expire today, so I’m going to ck if my store has the little bags. (yes, yes, I know some stores take exp ECBs, but the store close to my house does not)
      ..
Someone was wondering about the size, I believe they are 1 ounce. Usually will say .33 or 3/$1 on the bag somewhere (at least the ones at Walmart & Big Lots say that). I have found them on an end cap across from the coolers.

      • kim

        Collin
what do you think about buying 3 and getting $1 ECB then rolling it to buy 3 more and so on till you get to 15 bags that would be less oop ??? would this work?

  27. Applemansee

Hi Sandra!, I’m a man!, I use coupons too! lol (Smile)

    • Toni Fanelli

I wish my man would. Are you single. lol :o)

      • ANDREA

        LOL!

        • Lindsay

          This comment made my day!!!

  28. tj

what type or kinds (flavors) of peanuts are you buying? I see some stores don’t have chips.

    • Carol S

I was able to purchase the Frito Lay Salted Peanuts 1 5/8 oz size for .50. bought 3 for 1.50 and got back 1 EBC.

    • Jennifer S

I tested Salted peanuts on my lunch break it worked. Next trip I got salted, honey roasted & hot. But didn’t get ECB on either the hot or honey roasted not sure which one of those isn’t working. One is and other isn’t. Anyone know?

  29. Kari H.

Dang…my CVS doesn’t have the small bags. 🙁

    • Tara

      Mine either.

  30. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Didn’t work for me in WV on the peanuts or chips and no signs were advertising it. Happy for those of you who got it to work but no free snacks for me! 🙁

    • Olivia Davis

Where abouts in WV? Huntington area maybe? This would save me from trying it if so.

  31. Jamie

i need diapers so I may check this out

  32. Jeremy

How do you get the survey?

  33. hsmom

Gaaah… two of my CVSs don’t carry them…

  34. Allison

For oklahoma folks, the one in midwest city on reno does NOT have the small bags. just checked this morning.

  35. Susan

TY I wanted to go check out the clearance anyways so thats an extra thing I can look for 🙂

  36. melissa

Go to www. CVS Advisor Panel . com (w/out the spaces)

You probably won’t get a survey right away. I usually get them about once a quarter, though last month, I got 2. Even if you don’t qualify for the entire survey, you usually get some sort of compensation (like $1ecb vs $5ecb or more for completing the full survey)

    • Cara

      what does HTH mean?

      • runfromreality

        “hope that helps”

Willingboro New Jersey on rte 130 has them. I felt awful taking 30, but I feed all the single Airman that work with my boyfriend and my kids. I bought 15, got the 5 ECB, then did it a second time and no ECB printed. I’ve read on other sites that this was unlimited so I’m going to call and try to get the ECB mailed to me. I know riteaid always does that for me.

    • A

It’s a maximum of $5 ecb, you can’t earn more even if you buy more

  40. mada

please can anyone say me what is peanut deal?thankyou

  41. Laura

    Deal Scenario #3: :- )

    Total = $7.50
Paid with $4 ECB I had from last week..
    Paid $3.50 Cash
    G0t back a $4 Ecb

Sweet! Boys in Baseball and we are always buying these at the corner gas station – saving us more $ – Thanks!!!

    • hsmom

Yeah, I was thinking of getting sunflower seeds too, since my cvs doesn’t have the chips. I wonder why you only got $4 in ECB instead of $5?

  42. Laura

This Works! – in Dallas Texas @ CVS off Forest Ln./Preston Rd

  43. Gsb

    Got 15 bags
    Paid 4.95
    Got back $5 ECBs

    • Tanya

      where do you live?

  44. Mary@4our2cents

My store did not have the 33 cent size but did have the 99cent size Lays/Fritos. It works on those too. $1 for ever 3 bought

  45. Patricia

Worked in Northern CA this morning. I had a $5 ECB to use up and some of the chips rang up at 30 cents so I ended up with 16 bags of chips, used the EB and paid 7 cents and got a $5 EB for next time. YEAH! Thank you 🙂

  46. Sandra

I’m bummed! they are not doing the chip deal at my cvs. The chips are scanning 99cents, and no sign. Maybe next week. I am in Riverside county, CA.

    • melissa

those are not the right chips, the ones that are 3/$1 are the tiny bags, like 1 oz. My store did not have them, just the .99 and $1.29 bags.
I bought 6 of the Frito Lay salted Peanuts, those are 2/$1, and got $2 ECB in return. I read that the Honey Roasted Peanuts were were not triggering the ecb, so beware!

      • Jennifer S

Ok that helps me I got hot & honey roasted one worked other didn’t must have been the honey roasted. Thanks!

  47. Andrea

my CVS didn’t have the small bag of chips 🙁 but I did get three bags of sunflower seeds (50 cents each) and got $1 ECB back.. the cashier didn’t even know about it when I asked her. She was surprised when my ECB printed.

  48. Roger

With what sizes and varieties of chips are you all having success? I checked three different varieties of Frito Lay brand individual packs that were normal retail $`1.29, and rang up that way. Maybe my N.C. CVS doesn’t have the ones others are purchasing under this offer.

    • melissa

It is the little 1 oz bags. Not all stores have them. But you should be able to find the nuts & sunflower seeds, those were located on an endcap in the grocery area, right across from the 12-pks.

      • Roger

Yep. Saw the nuts and seeds; just not the chips. Ounces helps to ask at another store. Thanks.

  49. margaret

IT did work here in Houston. The price was clearly marked and they even had a sign for the $1 ECB per 3.

    • Harmony

Which store had them in Houston? thanks

  50. daveycor

I got the 99cent bags @ 1 in SE Michigan for the 3/1 deal at 1 store so I spent $1 got 3 + ecb etc. ended up w/ 9-99cent bags for a buck and still have 1 ecb

    • Kelly

What city are you in? I haven’t found any and I’m in Northville.
