That’s wonderful my husband left today for Deployment he will be gone again for six months

    • reefk29@gmail.com

Hi, I am a military spouse as well and the one thing you need to remember is you cannot give any information on the day your husband deploys or how long they will be gone. Giving away that type of information jeopardizes their units whereabouts and timeline. Its not just your husband who could be jeopardized, its my husband too, along with some many other’s. Just reminding you=)

      • ericka

That is interesting. Why do they always have that info on the news? Just curious.

      • C. Dolehanty

While I don’t personally make a habit of announcing specific dates and times of deployment arrivals/departures or locations, our local news crews have been running footage for weeks of various groups deploying and are including their deployment information down to what provinces and cities they will be stationed in. I suppose the individual is not allowed to say but the mass media is.

      • Cally

I’m a military wife as well and I don’t think she said anything wrong. They don’t want you saying “My husband is going to be stationed in blah blah blah, at such and such time, at this location” They never say you can’t say my spouse is deployed and should be home in about a year (or whatever). That is all this person said.

      • Tara

While loose lips do sink ships (as they like to say) she didn’t say anything wrong. She didn’t say what base they departed from, their route, or where they were heading. So I don’t think she violated any OPSEC. I hope that the deployment goes smoothly, and quickly for your husband, you and the rest of your family. DH is coming up on another deployment in a few months and I know how the 1st few weeks are always the hardest getting yourself and your chldren adjusted to the change. Good luck!

      • Lauren

Glad you posted that! In the email I sent them, I told them I couldn’t give exact info other than where we are currently stationed due to my husband’s security clearance. Thanks for the reminder for all

        • Pamela

My husband served over 20 yrs, both active and Reserve, and in clearance-related rates (nuke power and IT), and I’ve NEVER heard of this tight-lipped requirement. Either must be new or (no surprise) no one ever, ever mentioned.

At any rate, kudos to all military spouses for all that we do and endure.

          • anonymous

My husband has been in for 16yrs.We have been all over the U.S. and he has been told since bootcamp and at every base that he should not disclose too much info EVER. The OP is correct.Especially right now. Right after the death of Bin Laden the bases went to force protection Bravo and ask for heightened security measures to be taken. People think that the stuff you post about your hubbys isn’t monitored online,FB and private chats. Its all accessible at any given moment. The news and people who talked about their military family on tv, go too far and disclose way too much.

  6. Vinita

What an GREAT way to honor those that put their lives on the line for us every single day. I have the highest regard for the Armed Forces and always wish we could do MORE to show our appreciation.

Anon, Jen and Bella….TYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSVM from me, my family and everyone I know, for making the sacrifices you do, while your spouses serve. Please convey our heartfelt thanks, hugs and best wishes to your spouses!!! Luv ya!!!

  7. DrLadybug

I sympathize, Anonymous. Many thanks to you (and your hubby) for your sacrifices and support.

My hubby served 21 yrs, and I didn’t know what to “do” when we had our first year of no missed holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc! I was and remain extremely proud of him, his service “siblings,” and the families left behind who make their own (sometimes unacknowledged) sacrifices.

Thank you, COLLIN (current military spouse herself!) and True Lemon!

  8. Dawn

Thanks for posting !!! Blessings to all my fellow Army spouses!!!

  16. April

Thanks for posting Collin! Not only am I a military spouse but I am a Soldier as well. Hubby has been in for 17 years and I will be at 9 this fall. He is getting ready to leave for his 4th deployment shortly, he was allowed to stay back for the finalization of adoption of our twin foster babies! This deployment was a volunteer one though, he did it so we could stay here and our sons could remain close to their 3 older siblings. I love him so much for what he is doing for our boys.

  17. julie

I am glad they think of us spouses as well! 🙂

  18. julie

I agree. My husband was a ds a few years ago. It is just as hard.
