Excellent deal! I got mine at Lowe’s store on clearance because someone purchased it, apparently used it, and returned it. I had a spaghetti sauce stain on the cord, and so they marked it down from about $269 to $79. I snatched that baby up, and now over six years later, it still runs like a JEWEL!
I’d pay the reduced price of $160. This is a long-term investment!!!

You have to be the luckiest person EVER! Mine was a wedding gift from my 3 sisters and I use it so often- it really is an investment piece.

I would classify this as a “Walmart deal”–it’s OK if you want the mixer without the hassle, but you can certainly get a better deal if you shop around, use coupons, and wait for a deal. I got the Artisan mixer, which is a better model, for about that price by working a deal at Macy’s (sale, coupon, opening a credit card).

That’s a great price. That’s about what I paid for mine 5 years ago at Macy’s (lot of discounts and stepfather who worked for Macy’s). Even though I only use my stand mixer about once every 6-8 weeks, I absolutely love it. It’s great for dough (I make croissants), beating egg whites (for buttermilk waffles), and pretty much everything else that requires a mixer. I still have a hand mixer but only for quick jobs, like cake mixes.

I have had my KitchenAid Classic for over 26 years, and it’s still going strong. Best piece of equipment EVER. If you are looking for a workhorse mixer, this is it!

I bought the Artisan (5 qt) on Amazon about two months ago for $88! They had reduced the price, I used my swagbucks, rebate of $30, magazine opt out of $12! I had been waiting at least 6 years to buy one! I LOVE IT! There was an attachment freebie with purchase recently. You would have to check online to see if its still there or even good on this model. Now I’m just waiting for a great deal on the ice cream attachment!

It is a deal, but I prefer the model Costco sells and don’t love white appliances. I make a double batch of bagels weekly and bake about twice a week and this one doesn’t cut it for me. I upgraded last year when costco had a coupon. That said, this is a good deal and a good product for a casual baker.

Now is the time! I’m 44 and have always wanted one of these! Just ordered it and got it a little cheaper with gift cards from Swagbucks!!

  8. Jessica

I use my Kitchenaid all the time and it is an amazing product. I’ve had mine 8 years, and still going strong. My mom’s had hers 34 years and it still works PERFECT! Seriously, best equipment ever!

  9. Laura

Collin, thanks to you I won this mixer at 90% off from Lowe’s (about $20) from the first contest they had that ended up a disaster (not for me though). I gave it to my mom, and she loves it! 🙂

    • Elizabeth

I got my Kitchenaid mixer in the 90% off Lowe’s giveaway too! Although this is great I could never justify spending $150 or more on it. There are just other things I need more. But for less than $20, I jumped all over it!

    Just purchased 2. Thanks!!!

I”d say that’s a great deal. I just bought for my future DIL the 5quart one at BB&B and paid $250.-. It came with a rebate that you send in for either a meat attachment/grinder or a big mixing bowl. That was a $50.- value. So, this seems to be a good deal to me.
I have a black one that my boys bought me 5 years ago for christmas and love it. I don’t use it all the time, but when I want it,,,,it’s very handy and I really expect to have it the rest of my life. Heavy Duty!!!

  12. Rose

I would not do without my Kitchen Aid! I have one exactly like this and it’s still runs like a top after 10½ years!!

  13. CHRIS

This is a great mixer for light to medium use. If you are doing bread dough or large batches of things regularly, it won’t be enough for you. Also, the bowl has no handle (a huge pain to deal with it when it is heavy!). Hold out for an Artisan or larger.

  14. Bev

Lots of negative commentary. I am kind of surprised. There is no greater mixer out there. This is a fabulous deal and most people don’t require a larger size for the simple cookies, cakes etc. that they make. I would say if you have considered this type of mixer, GET IT! I love my kitchenaid mixer and use it DAILY.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Agree with you. This is my favorite thing in my kitchen and I have tons of kitchen gadgets. I would never be able to live without my mix. I

Hmmm looks like I’m too late. I see the price at $194 now. I’ve been wanting one of these for about 10 years now. So I think I can hold off for a better price and wait until I get some gift cards.

  16. Reina

I just looked and the price was at $194. Still an okay deal

  17. Jen

Price is showing $194.88 with Prime. 🙁

  18. Jenny

I’m with Erin, I would wait for the larger Artisan.

  19. Gracie

I don’t think ANYONE is putting the Kitchenaid mixer down! They are just saying this one in particular. My theory is if you are going to make this kind of investment go ahead and get the bigger size and be done with it. I finally gave in when Collin posted the 5.5 Artisan mixer and I am thrilled with it! I make cakes and have burned up so many mixers over the years! It was WAY PAST time for me to get one! I’m so glad I finally did! I can’t wait for more opportunities to use it. It’s just me and my hubby most of the time and he is on a diet. LOL! hmmmmmmmmmm! but my son comes home from the Army in August and choc chip cookies are his favorite! 🙂

  20. Smitha

Thanks Collin! My friend recently bought a house and I bought it for her. 🙂

  21. Karen

What is the Artisan that is being mentioned? Does anyone know which kind of mixer would be used if you want to make meatloaf/meatball mix? Thanks all!

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I received a 12 year old kitchenaid mixer from my grandmother. And It worked wonderful!! Loved it used it 1-3 times a week. It needed to be oiled and so we decided it might be time for an upgrade. We got the Kitchenaid Professional about 2 months ago. And already they have had to replace it twice because it went up in smoke. They just don’t seem to make them like they used to.
