Collin, please make it clear that the $5 John Frieda Full Repair coupon is NOT to be used on Shampoos and Conditioners.

    • angeline

i read in another blog that they called john freida and they said the coupon is ok to be used in the shampoo and the conditioner they consider the whole line a full repair treatment. just FYI. ; )

    • christina

I used mine yesterday on shampoo and conditioner, and it worked perfectly!

      • Melissa

just because “it worked perfectly” or “the coupon didn’t beep” doesn’t make what you are doing right. The coupon says Full Repair Treatment, Styler or Finisher. Which shampoo & conditioner are not.

        • christina

well, what i meant as well was the fact that I hadn’t even realized that shampoo and conditioner were not included! which is why I say it worked perfectly!

    • deb

Used it on shampoos and conditioners…workeed just fine. LOVE these products.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

There are full repair shampoo and conditioners that are on sale for $5.

      • Collin

Sorry guys. I just updated the post to reflect the purchase of the Full Repair Stylers only with those coupons. 🙁

        • Sarah

Thanks Collin. I’m glad someone pointed that out last week, I don’t think I would have noticed either.

        • Sandra

I asked at my CVS yesterday and they said no to shampoo and conditioner because the coupon does not specify shampoo and conditioner, it only specifies John Frieda Full Repair Treatment, Styler or Finisher, so I was able to get 2 Root Lifts! lol 🙂

    • Alicia

I used the $5 coupon on conditioner at Target last week.

      • Alicia

I had asked the clerk first because I wasn’t sure if it could be used on that. He said it could.

  2. saira

for the cover girl clearence is included and what abt eye shades?

  3. katie

for the nestles b2g1 for a penny, is the b2g1 free q going to just take off the one that costs a penny? that would be kinda lame.

    • Annette

I was thinking the same thing…

    • Cat W.

Not sure, but I guess you could get 4 for the price of 2 (plus a penny).

      • Sarah

Well, you don’t need to buy a 4th, but I think the question is…will the coupon take off the penny or the price of one of the two that are full priced? I have some trident bogo coupons I’d like to use and they are on sale this same way and I’m nervous about using them.

        • Collin

I guess it will depend on how your cashier enters the coupon, but I think it would be ridiculous if they entered the coupon value as a penny!?!

          • katie2_011

I did it yesterday and the cashier took off $.39.

    • Erin

Can you use (2) $.35 off one Nestle Crunch single bar that was on coupons.com?

      • Collin

        Yes you could! 🙂

  4. Annette

There is also a DiGiorno pizza & cookies coupon for $1.25/1 if it would work toward the DiGiorno deal….

  5. Kathleen

on the Dove large bar B1, G1 $.01 deal, the CVS coupon machine has also been spitting out $.50/2…combine that with the $1/2 or .$.75/2 depending on region and it should make for an even better deal!

    • Nicole

Can you tell me where you see the Dove large bars on sale for B1G1 Free?

      • CoffeeB

        CVS

      • Melissa

They’re not B1G1Free, but Buy 1 get 1 for .01. Its on page 3 of my ad, underneath the blue 1cent Candy Sale Banner.

        • Nicole

OK, I see it now. I only looked about 5 times! I wonder if they will have any left when I get there so I can use my coupons that expire today. 🙁

  6. cammy

If you do the skinny cow deal, the coupon is good on skinny cow when you buy and All You magazine. I think All You is only at Wal Mart right??

    • katie

there was that one in the back of the magazine, but somewhere in the middle was the coupon for buying skinny cow by itself. hth.

      • cammy

Yea!!! Thank you!! I found it!! Thanks again!!

  7. Jessica

Cvs sent me a coupon through email for 20% off of my next purchase, but says it excludes sale merchandise. Does that mean anything on sale?

    • Sarah

yep, and anything with ECB. 🙁

    • Maria

My Cvs they told me that things that are not on sale it will take of the 20% and things that do not have a ECB. I have used those before and it only takes off for things that are not on sale.

    • melissa

I used one of those on regular price neutrogena sunblock a month ago, it was spend $20 on the sunblock and get $10 ECB, and I asked the cashier, “can I use this on these?” and she said yes and scanned it and it took off 20% of the sunblock price and I still got my EB.

  8. cammy

Anybody have any ideas how to use the first aid $3 coupon from the CVS machine. Seems like it worked with Motrin last time??

    • tina

I used it this morning on the bayer aspirin and the zyrtec to make it a money maker. worked fine didn’t beep or anything

  9. E

Spend $10 on any John Frieda, Jergens, Curel, or Biore Products = $3 Ecb (limit 1)

If you did this deal last week can you do it this week?

    • Sarah

Yep, the sales reset each week.

      • Melissa

from what I read on another board, its a month long deal with a limit of 2 total.

    • Maria

My had limit 2 for John Freida.

      • Karen

Check the bottom of your coupon…it’ll let you know.

  10. Mitch

All I know is thanks to hip2save I went to the CVS near my in-laws where they have the better deals than Manhattan. I bought 9 beverages and between the free Lipton tea and the $1 Honest Tea coupons that I got thanks to hip, my total was exactly $0. The clerk got nervous and had to get a mangarers approval!
I did nothing wrong and now have my teas safely in tthe fridge.
Thanks again to hip2save and CVS!

  11. mariehamilton

Am I missing something on the Oral B? My B1G1 says only up to $3.99

    • Collin

      You’re right…updated the post!

  12. deb

How about that GREAT $5/20 Q from the on-line newspaper?
Going tonite to take advantage of it-our deals are loaded early 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Do you have a link to that?

    • Shelly T.

What on-line newspaper are you referring?

      • Sarah

Providence Journal, but it expired yesterday and that particular one was only good in stores in that area.

  13. Mandi

I just happen to spot a $1 Colgate Total CVS coupon on the back of my Reinventing Beauty magazine too… 2 in mine!

  14. jmartcougar

I just took two surveys for cvs advisory and got 10 ecb!

  15. Maria

Can you use $3 off $10 cosmetic purchase for Loreal next week when it is b1g1 then it will be $1.24 instead of $4.24

  16. Dianne

Anyone considering buying the Aluma wallet as part of the gas promotion should know that my local TV station tested it and gave it a failing grade. HTH.

  17. melissa

Does the $3/$10 first aid work on the motrin, zyrtec, and bayer??

    • ashley

ive heard them say it works for the excedrin, so i dont know why it wouldnt! i will try if i get one tomorrow!

    • Collin

I would think so, but you may want to ask your store manager what exactly is considered a “first aid” item?

      • Lpmousse

I used it on Motrin & Bayer just fine. 🙂

    • Misty

Yes I just did this today!

  18. deb

My store loads Sat nite-I’ve done 2 deals so far this eve.
My CVS took my FREE 20 oz. Lipton Iced Tea IP.These will help you get your totals up quicker, working the $5/20 deals.
On my 2nd deal, I was able to use both the $5/20 and the CVS $3/10 Cosmetics in the same trans.

  19. marsha d.

You cannot use a $3/10 first aid CVS coupon on Excedrin. Excedrin is not a first aid item, and that would be fraudlent.

    • Robin

I disagree. If I have a headache, I am in pain and therefore the first thing I am reaching for is asprin. There are other things considered first aid than bandages.

    • Jennifer

I used it on Bayer and Motrin PM and it went thru just fine – I even asked the manager if that was considered First Aid and he said it was – also got my ECB – was a great deal!

  20. MaddyCruise

    Motrin PM 20 ct $4 = $3 Ecb (limit 3)
Use the $1/1 coupon found in the 6/12 RP or here
    Pay $3
    Get back $3 Ecb
    Final cost Free!

I have $2/1 of any Motrin PM …$1 MM for me….woot woot.. My local Walgreens gave me a bunch of this coupons!!!!

  21. Amy

Just a reminder, If any of you have a free Zyrtec trial coupon (up to $7) that will make the 5 ct. Zyrtec a $6 moneymaker! I got mine in the mail a few weeks ago.

  22. Jamie

Am I the only one having trouble with Saving Star? I’m supposed to be receiving a confirmation email, and so far nothing. Also – my money isn’t crediting to my account? Just wondering if I’m alone or if it’s the site!

    • Sara

Your not alone,I bought things at the beginning of last month that has yet to show up!

    • mariehamilton

      I’m having the same trouble.

    • Jamie

I wonder what to do about it!!!

      • DMC

I bought the 15 cans of Friskies cat food a week ago and still haven’t got my dang $1 in the savingstar account.

    • cassiesoren

I emailed them after I purchased Huggies and didn’t see my SavingStar credit after 2 weeks. They said sometimes it can take a while to post to your acct. My huggies credit was there about a week later. HTH!

      • Lisa

Good to know. I was beginning to wonder about my Huggies Credit. It’s been about 2 weeks.

  23. Nicole

If the Zyrtec 24 hour tablets 5 ct isn’t considered a trial size then there is a $4 off coupon in 4/10 RP. How do I specifically know if something is trial???

    • Melissa

no, the 5-count is not a trial size. My store has a 3-pk that’s in the travel/trial section.

    • tina

i used that $4 coupon today and made it a money maker and it worked fine no beeping

  24. elana k

I am new to Hip2Save (and couponing in general) and was stoked about this deal I got at CVS the other day:
2 Covergirl Naturaluxe Gloss Balm (Retail: $7.49 each=$14.98)
On Sale this week: 2/ $12
    Used the $5/2 6/5 P&G coupon
Also used a $3 off $10 cosmetic purchase printed at store machine
    Total Spent: $4 ($2 each!)

    • christina

I did the exact same thing yesterday!!

    • Collin

      Awesome!! 🙂

  25. Toni S.

Look for BOGO coupons for Orbit 14 piece gum in your convenience stores ( Hucks, Caseys, etc.) You will be able to get free gum at CVS this week.

  26. Dayna

On the Orbit BOGO using the $1/2, will that work? Since one of the 2 you are purchasing is free?

    • Collin

Yes, you are buying two but just getting one free with the store sale 🙂

      • Dayna

        Thank you!

  27. HEATHER

I got a coupon for $3 off a $10 cosmetic purchase today that expires on the 12th. Using that makes the Revlon deal free!!

  28. mLovesDeals "M"

    • andrea

I didn’t get the tylenol pm or the schick coupon in my newspaper today. Super bummed!! I was looking forward to the razor, oh well happy shopping everyone!!

  29. Erika

    this week is blah! lol

    • Brianna

Same for me! But grateful for the good weeks =]

  30. CoffeeB

My RP had the John Freida coupons for only $2.00 off. ;-( Still a good deal, but nothing like the $5.00 off some of you got. It does say off ANY John Freida product and so I will be using these on shampoo.

  31. Brandi

What about the magic machine printout of $3/$10 purchase of first aid…anybody know the deals and what does and doesn’t count?

  32. croche

My CVS has Nyquil products 75% off. Had a $3 off two liquids, made them free.

  33. JulieM

Hey, yesterday I got a 30% of your order coupon at the end of my cash register receipt. It’s only good ’til Tuesday. It doesn’t say about it not applying to sale or clearance items. What’s the best way for me to use this? I was thinking that if I did the spend $30 get $10 gas card and used the 30% off plus coupons for some of the items, it would be more like spend $15-20 get a $10 gas card. Thoughts?

    • Melissa

general consensus is the 30% will not work on anything that is on sale.

      • Lisa

It just depends on what kind of coupon it is – they send out several different kinds. I’ve had a % off coupon before that didn’t specify that it had to be the non-sale items – and it took it off the entire transaction. The one I got earlier this week said non-sale, and it only took off the the non-sale items.

  34. mada

hi collin there is 20% off cvs coupon available which expires 2day

  35. Melissa

When you go to CVS.com, click on Medicine Cabinet, scroll down to First Aid, this is what is in the box:

Antiseptics & Antibiotics / Bandages, Gauze & Tape
First Aid Kits / Foot & Jock Itch
    Gloves & Masks / Hemorrhoids
Hot & Cold Therapy / Lice & Pinworm Treatments
Poison Ivy & Itch / Psoriasis & Eczema
Scar Treatments / Thermometers & Accessories
    Wart Removal

I would not consider aspirin, oral allergy medicine, vitamins to be first aid items.

  36. Kristin

I just went this morning and there were pamphlets on the Zyrtec endcap display with $3 off coupons inside! I’m in the southern California area.

  37. Michelle

I would not recommend the Visa/ AMEX gift cards because there’s an activation fee associated whereas the actually store cards do not.

  38. Steph

I think the Cetaphil coupon is $1/1, right?

    • Steph

Okay, the first link is $1/1, the second is $2/1. Woo hoo!

  39. Coupon Princess

We had a disaster of a shopping trip today. First of all I’ve rarely shopped CVS since it opened years ago and second I’m so used Walgreens it took me forever to get things together.

The first deal I did was the Spend $30 get $10 Gas card. Wesson rang up $6.89- way too much money for me so I just switched it to 7 Boxes of cereal for ($21) 3 Total (they had $1/1 Peelies) and than 4 Boxes of Raisin Bran and I used (2) $1/2 Q’s, and then I went over but I bought 6 bags of Hershey kisses for $11.97 and used (2) $1/3 Q’s. If it wasn’t for needing cereal and gas I wouldn’t of even bothered with this deal because it was not worth it to me 🙁

I did buy some fake eye lashes… I’ve been wanting to try these for quite a while, does anyone else use them? I figure it would be fun to try.

The cashiers were not real savvy on couponing or at least not minimal OP couponing. If I had listened to the guy I would of spent around $70 out of pocket which I’m too cheap to do. But I can see how everyone likes shopping there when you have accumulated ECB’s because it sure beats wasting money on fillers!!!

    • Dianne

Don’t judge CVS based on the gas deals. I love shopping at CVS and have saved a ton of money there, but I have yet to find a gas deal good enough to try for. If I figured right, you got 13 items for right at $15 (after taking into consideration the $10 you would have pulled out of your wallet to pay for the gas otherwise), which was really pretty decent if you needed these items. Just wanted to say don’t judge CVS by this promotion, as they have so many better deals to offer. BTW, I gave up on Walgreen’s because of all the rules/hassles involved, and I’m strictly a CVS/Rite Aid gal now.

      • Melissa

agreed. The gas deal really isn’t worth it unless its for products you use. At first, when I read about it, I was like WOW! Great offer…but as the ads started rolling out, I was not impressed with the items on sale. However, this week I will do it b/c I have accumulated lots of ECBs and I don’t mind purging them towards the gas card. I found $1/1 Digiorno tearpad q’s at my local grocery store a few months ago, so I plan on getting 4 of those, 2 boxes of Fiber One cereal for my dh, and 3 Palmolives. Total = $30.64 less $4 for the Digiorno, (2) .75 Fiber One q’s from todays paper and $15 in ECBs = $10.14.
As a bonus, I’ll get $1 towards my savingstar acct.

      • Coupon Princess

Diane, Yes I think I spent around $27 ($29 with tax) and received the $10 gift card and bought 13 items. So It probably came out to $1.46 ea. w/tax. I’ve been so spoiled lately with not paying more than a couple of dollars for hundreds of dollars of food/ products that It’s hard for me to accept a bill of over $5! My kids tease me but hey they don’t mind mom having the extra cash when they want a new game LOL

  40. Lisa

Hi Collin, Just wanted to say thanks for all the money saving tips. I have just started with clipping coupons about 2 months ago. I love your site. Thanks a bunch I have been unemployed for almost 2 years so things are really tough now. I only wish I had done this sooner. Thanks again Collin!!!
On another note I went to my local CVS today in Northern Jersey. They have the self check out counter’s which are great. I can do all my transactions in one visit. To my surprise the CVS associate was checking every single coupon I used. Unfortunately someone bought $200.00 worth of merchandise the other day and used bogus coupons. This made me angry (not with the associate) just that it messes it up for us honest people. So Sad.
    Thanks again!!!!!

  41. ketsy

Just went to my local one of a kind corner CVS where rarely anyone coupons because they all are off to church and lo and behold empty shelves in all the items I wanted to get. I really hope they are out of stock from last week because it would be really sad if people stopped worshiping the Lord in order to worship coupons 🙂

    • Coupon Princess

      Hey Ketsy,
I chuckled when you posted that comment about shopping instead of going to church because…
This is one of the first trips I made to CVS ( I love my Wags) and yes I went on Sunday Morning (Because I wasn’t able to make it up to church) but I was told that they are open 24 hrs and the items were long but gone by the time church opened. I usually go to Wags right when it opens at 8am On Sunday’s because whenever I go after church at 10:30am usually everything is gone too!

Maybe next Sunday we can go couponing first and then bring them with to church, that would be fun 🙂 For me, Couponing has been another way I can be a testimony for the Lord and share His Blessings with others 🙂

      • ketsy

Be sure to take a minivan and so will I 🙂 or at least flyers….. 🙂

        • Coupon Princess

God blessed us with a Minivan for that reason!

  42. Nicole

Anyone know how much the large Dove bars cost?

    • Carrie

They were $2.19, regular price at my store on Long Island.

  43. dreamzviva

I’m assuming nobody mentioned this because it could be a regional coupon, but I had a $4 off any (1) Zyrtec in my 4/10 RP, which made the Zyrtec a really good moneymaker!

  44. Shari

If only I had gotten the Schick or Motrin (got Advil) or Tic Tac (see there is a printable) coupons in my Sunday paper. This isn’t the first time I’ve been disappointed over not being able to take advantage of deals. Frustrating!!

  45. laura

does cvs work similar to walgreens with the fillers and
not beign able to use RR to buy the same product because it wont give you RR again
    im really confuse

    • Melissa

nope! No fillers needed and if the limit is 2, you can roll your ECBs from one deal to the next.

  46. calhawki

Went to CVS to get the exedrin deal… had an issue. I bought $21 worth of exedrin and used various coupons to get the price down to less than $10. (Had a 30% off a purchase CVS coupon). Went through the whole transaction and no ECB’s came out. Looked at my receipt and at the bottom it said there was only $9.38 towards the promotion still needed $10.62. It looks as though they are not counting coupons towards the $20. I am confused, and never had this problem before. Have had similar problems at CVS and getting very discouraged. Any help or insight on this matter would be appreciated! 🙂

  47. Ashley

Went to CVS Monday afternoon and every one of these deals were sold out…. I guess I will have to start going first thing Sunday mornings….

  48. Lisa

I just used the 5dollar coupons on shampoo and conditioner today w/out trouble

  49. jody

what is a saving star account?? the link doesn’t work.

    thanks!!

  50. LTibbs

Can someone help? I got the Schick Hydro razor/ Hydro 5 in the flyer and I did not get my $4 ECB. It is the correct one and was marked as so in the store. I did not notice until I was home. I did also buy the Schick Hydro cartridges and got the $4 ECB for that. What do I do? Will they give it to me after the fact? Thanks!

    • LTibbs

Okay update…. I called cvs customer care line. They will fix it and I can print my ecb online. I do have to call back in 24 hours so they have my transaction online since I just made my purchase this am. Yippie! I so did not want to go back to the store.

      • LTibbs

Not sure if I’m the only one who did not know this but…. if you lose your ecb’s you can print them on the cvs website!! Awesome!!!
