My Family Dollar is ALWAYS so RUDE to be when I try to use this coupon (they always have some products on sale for $1) Definitely going to try to get a ad and price match!!!

    • navy4cowgirl

HHope those work! Any one tried yet?

      • Amber

Didn’t work for me–the register rejects the coupon and the cashier thinks it’s only good on facial products since that is what is pictured.

        • Shannon

Did not work register said “no item match found” .

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

This didn’t work for me either. The cashier was saying it was for make-up only. I tried to explain to him that it was for any queen product and he still wouldn’t take it. 🙁 Can’t win them all I guess

      • Tristan

I went and tried it and this is how it went.

Beth is her name. I went to the register and handed her my items and my coupons and she barely spoke to me. She scanned the first coupon and it beeped of course. She dinged her little bell as loud as she possibly could and still didn’t speak to me or look at me. When the lady from the back got up there she said “yeah, we’ve have problems with your coupons before.” SO RUDE. She began to tell me that it was only for makeup and when i told her that was not so she read it outloud and it stated on ANY queen product. After that she said well I guess i can just override it. So she did and I had to HELP her with her OWN register (do people not train their workers anymore?). The first girl was standing off to the side the whole time and when the lady tells me that my total is .36 (tax) Beth says “thats retarded.” At this, i am stunned and just look at her like did you really just say that? The lady that came from the back said yeah i don’t know why it wont take her coupons here and Beth said “thats retarded.” AGAIN! I handed her 50 cents and she yanked the receipt off and handed me my change without looking at me or speaking to me. Probably the RUDEST I have ever been treated trying to use coupons. I can’t find a number to call corporate. If you know it, please share.

i had a very rude experience myself with Family Dollar this afternoon. I do not know the number to call corporate but I did just email them (go here –> https://corporate.familydollar.com/pages/ContactUs.aspx ). I hope to get a response from them soon. They refused to override my coupons because they said I couldn’t use a $1/1 coupon for an item that only costs $1 because no free items allowed. 🙁 I hope one of the Wal-Marts in the surrounding areas carry these products I would really rather go there then deal with FD again. 🙁

This deal was a no-go in Morehead, KY. I *tried* to buy two of the $1 items and 2 of the $2 nail buffers that looked pretty nice, but they would not accept these coupons b/c the register rejected it saying “no item match found” and the cashier said that the coupon is ONLY for FACE products since that is what is pictured. I tried to explain that it said “Queen product” which could be anything in the Queen line, but that was worthless, then she went to void the items off my transaction and only voided two and was trying to charge me for them even though she put them back, so I had to have her void the whole transaction and re-scan the other items I was buying.
& I am not too excited about price-matching these at Wally World b/c now they make you give your coupons before they start ringing your items. This is fine if you are only using a couple of coupons, but it gets really time consuming when using a bunch because the cashier has to sort through them with each item as it’s scanned–it’s a headache!

I am in Kentucky too and the Family Dollar is HORRIBLE in Kentucky. Refuse to shop there. After my last visit to Family Dollar, which was about two months ago, I wrote corporate. No one ever wrote me back. The store employees are rude and are not aware of the coupon policy. I will Definatly be shopping at Walmart, price match!!!!

  7. Tiffany

I was able to buy 5 toe seperators and 6 emery boards. The cashier let me use a 1.50 off two coupon and a 1 dollar off 1 in the same transaction. The computer beeped but she just manully did it.

I have tried to go to family dollar in my town twice now to do this. I thought I had everything settled after the first time, but apparently not. The manager even called me to apologize after the first time that the cashier would not let me use the coupons. I then tried again the other day at two family dollar stores. One was the one from before and the other was a different one close by. When I went to the one the coupons beeped and the one employee got another employee to go find out if they could be used. The other employee went in a room that (there was no one else in) for about 20 seconds to supposedly find out if they could be used or not. In the amount of time that she was in there she had no time to contact anyone. She came back out and said that the coupons could not be used if the computer beeped. Obviously, she had contacted no one and was just telling me whatever she thought would work to get rid of me. So I decided fine I will take my coupons and go to the other family dollar. So I went to the other family dollar. Not only was I waiting at the register five minutes before anyone came up there, but one of the employees was complaining loudly about her community service. Again the register beeped. This cashier decided that the coupons could only be used on the items in the picture. I explained to the employee that it says any not just the ones in the picture. She called over another employee. By this time I was already frustrated and had other things that I needed to do besides standing around in family dollar. She asked to borrow one of the coupons so that she could consult with the manager. I told her to keep the coupon had the other cashier ring up my other purchases and left. I went home and sent a complaint on the family dollar websites and made sure to include the store numbers.

I also just had a HORRIBLE experience at Family Dollar about this-was buying 3 items and using 3 coupons. As cashier was working the transaction another woman came over and interceded. The cashier noticed that one of the items rang up twice. She asked ” Did you have two of those?” I told her “Oh no-I only had 3 Queen items-not 4 like the screen says”, so she proceeded to void one off. Other woman says LOUDLY-“You have 7 items!” (I was buying a couple other items). I told her “Maam, she was asking about the Queen items”. As the cashier was manually entering the coupons, the other woman LOUDLY states that the register would not allow it because this is a FREE item coupon and their policy is not to accept free item coupons. I tried to explain that this is not a free item coupon-that this coupon will essentially make the item free, however I am purchasing the item and the coupon is payment for the item. I asked her where is it written in their policy. After looking all around for a couple minutes, she found it and showed me the phrase in the policy where it states “No Free item coupons will be accepted unless a purchase is required-i.e Buy One Get One Free coupons are acceptable”. She went on and on, and by now I was mortified with the stares and glares of the customers behind me, as though I was a criminal. I asked for them (her and the actual cashier who was ringing me out) to remove the items from my purchase and return my coupons-which they did. I then asked for the associate’s name-so I could call customer service, as I did not agree with her interpretation of their policy. She told me to call her district manager because that is the chain of command. Incidentally-when you call customer service it routes you regionally through to the district manager either way. I should be getting a call from their regional offices, but I can guarantee that I will never return to their store after the way I was embarrassed.

Ive had a similar exp.at my family dollar and I will NOT go back in there! They were loud and rude!

I just came back from doing this deal. My local DG is right around the corner so I thought I would try it out.
Coupon did get rejected by the computer, however, my super nice cashier told me that she could just enter it manually after she read the coupon and verified what I purchased. I thanked her and we got to talking…..she said that most of the coupons get rejected by the computer because of the messed up system and that unless you have a cashier who is willing to enter it manually than they will just tell you they cant take the coupon!!!
I again thanked her and told her I really appreciated her taking the time to enter the coupons manually. She was also super friendly with my toddler, so I had a great experience today!
I was able to score: 2 nail clippers, 2 tweezers- queen products $1 each (used 1/1 coupon)
and found 2 invisible concealers on clearance for $1.73 each (used 2.50/2 coupon)

  10. Cheryl

Worked for me in NC. The coupon did beep and the cashier had no problem entering it manually because he verified it said on any cover girl queen product and the item was a cover girl queen product. However at first he said I could only use 1 coupon per transaction and I explained to him that the 1 is for each item since I had 2 coupons and 2 items. He agreed. Wow!

Our family dollar said they do NOT take coupons. 🙁

    • Selena

Thats odd… they usually have stacks of “family dollar” coupon books at the front of the stores. Do they take those?
I’ve also seen seasonal coupon books on display there. I would question that.

  13. Lisa

Question about the coupons. I have a few $1.00 off ONE CoverGril product and $2.50 off Two CoverGirl products. Is there another coupon that specified “Cover Girl Queen product”?

  14. Marie

Yea, they don’t seem to work too good at Family Dollar store. First time I tried them, the register kept beeping. We all read the coupon print again, it said on ANY Cover Girl product, so they decided to do it manually for both products. I was really grateful they were so nice.

The second time, I was in a different store and again it beeped. I told them it happened before, they called the manager and she wasn’t really sure what the problem was either. Then she said: oh you can’t use the coupons, because the items will be free 🙂 They were nice to me and apologized so I really didn’t wanna argue with them. I just gave up. Sometimes that’s what you gotta do even if you’re right. It’s not worth that much trouble. I figured the next time I will try to get an item that’s $1.20 to see if that will work. They would have no excuse then, would they? 🙂

    • Kat

I tried it on one of the $2 nail buffers and it didn’t work on those, either 🙁

  15. Allison

I hate family dollar. ughhh always have problems with coupons there! And angry glares from customers when I try to use coupons. Not worth it. The only place I use coupons now tends to be walgreens/CVS and usually I take someone with me so I don’t have to face ignorant/uninformed cashiers by myself :/

note: I do have some great cashiers at walgreens/cvs, not dissing people that work there! in fact I’d love to get a job there.. 🙂

  16. terresa

My hip list is full and everytime I try to delete something it shows back up.I get a message that says 24 items please delete but I can’t any suggestions?

  17. amy

I tried to get one of the queen collections tweezers and had the $1. coupon but the cashier refused to accept it cause it would make the item free, then she called the manager who also refused and said it was for lipsticks only, i told her no that it was for any queen product and she said no, she was not accepting it very rude and i told her they should accept it but they just don’t know how to do their job.

  18. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I just want to thank you Collin for putting the price matching Idea in your postings now… I keeps people from wiping out just one store and gives some of us “UnExtreme Couponers” a real chance 🙂

  19. nayelly

where can I get a copy of the family dollar ad? will walmart take a copy of the ad? I did not receive it in my mail or the sunday paper. Thanks

  20. Heather

I got this deal today, the coupons did not register but my cashier did it all manually, with not even an arguement!!!! There is a limit of 4 per transaction and I did 6 transactions, got 24 tools/files for less that $1.50… woopwoop

    • Heather

I still had a ton of coupons, could have gotten so many more… no need to be greedy, but got enough for me and my daughter to share!!!

  21. Ashley

wow my Family Dollar was great about taking these. I’ve done it twice with the $1 and $2.50/2 coupons. They did beep, but she just verified that they were correct and manually entered them. I walked out with $8.00 worth of stuff without paying anything, no problems.

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I don’t think that wal-mart carries these queen cover girl products…I looked at a couple wal-marts.

  23. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I got it to work, but it took a little work. Like many of you, my coupon rejected when scanned, she had to force it through but only after I calming but firmly stated the nature of the coupon AND the policy (I explained that I would have to pay tax, but that the coupon was ok to take off).

Also, lesson learned: ALWAYS know EXACTLY what your Q says including the fine print. This cashier “read” the fine print and told me without blinking that it was for Buy 2 Get $1 off. Lies! Obviously she was BSing me and making it up. Luckily, using the knowledge I have from this site, I stood my ground and got my free pedi supplies! 🙂

  24. Jamie

The store manager at the local Family Dollar here said the problem is not with the coupons, but with their register. When these items scan, they don’t come up as being Cover Girl. THAT is the problem .. the register doesn’t think you have purchased a Cover Girl product, so it will beep. They have to be manually entered.

Also, I have never seen any of these items at the 3 Walmart stores around here.
