Says already participated in this offer, so not a new one

    thanks

    • Leigh

If you get a chance to get the Wall Street Journal free-get it. I have been getting mine for over a month now and on Saturday there is at least one coupon insert in there. It’s usually Smartsource. I wasn’t expecting that! Get any newspaper or magazine that is free. You never know when there will be coupons in them.

      • Jennifer

I got the Wall Street Journal too but have gotten no coupons with it…I wonder if it is a regional thing.

        • mikka

just started my wall street journal last week.. and no coupons either.. lol

          • Suzy B.

I don’t get coupons in mine either 🙁

            • aesha

no coupons for me also got mine started last week-

    • Marilynn Walton

I got it for 6 months, only got it 4 or so times a week, and never any coupons. Wish I would have had time to actually read it! lol

  2. Roger

I’ve subscribed in the past, and need to renew, but it unfortunately said that I’ve already participated in this offer.

  3. Dianne

    Yeah, got mine, thanks Collin.

  4. Coupz

    I got one. Thanks Collin!

  5. kristen

I wonder what my mailman thinks every month when he delivers this… white chick subscribing to Ebony 🙂

    • Deb

Ho ho ho-I’m right with ya!
DH thinks I’ve gone over the edgeLOL

    • Nik

He thinks you have style and an open mind!

      • TARRIBEAR

        My Dh was like, honey??

    • NolaGirl

It’s none of his business, but maybe he thinks ‘Welcome to the 21st century. Maybe we really are in a post-racial world.’

      • Allison

Your comment is a bit off base. While there is nothing wrong with any color woman (or man) ordering a subscription to this magazine, we are definitely not in a “post-racial world.” That is like denying racism and prejudices don’t still dictate our society and affect minorities everyday of their lives.

        • Chris

          Ditto that Allison.

I subscribe not for the coupons, but because I am married to a man of color and have bi-racial children. It has been a very helpful insight for a girl who grew up in an all white northen MI town.

Pretty sure you can bet your mailman is wondering whats up.

          • Ms Tee

No offense but reading a magazine catered to black women will not help you better understand black culture.

            • Chris

Actually it does. Nor do I think its just for black women. In fact — “Ebony magazine is a leading magazine for African-American men and women. Ebony magazine covers a broad range of topics such as entertainment, sports, history and art”

Many of the articles that have been in there for the last several months have been very helpful to me as the mom to “black” children.

It may not be the “culture” you are referring to, as we all have different stories. Certainly my life was no Martha Stewart, it does however give me insight I am not finding elsewhere.

            • Ms Tee

Also, being married to a black man and having biracial children doesn’t mean you’re more apt to read a magazine catered towards the black community. It irks me to read comments like that.

            • Ms Tee

If it helps you better raise your children, that’s fine and dandy but in all honesty, there’s going to be a difference. You’re right, we all have our different stories but until you have lived the life, there’s no way to fully understand. I apologize to other readers for making this a racial discussion however, I wanted to share my opinion.

            • Maria D.

              I agree.

            • Chris

I didn’t say I was more apt to read it, I said thats why I read it. There is no reason that would make me anymore likely to read Ebony than any other person. Its people misreading what I said that irks me.

You are right, there will be a difference, because my kids are biracial and I am white. For sure. I am not so naive as to think they will be accepted for who they are by ALL communities. However, the magazine, in the 1st issue I got, had a peice all about bi-racial america. It was helpful to me, and other articles are also helpful.

Every single one of us, white, black, asian, indian, we will ALL have different experiences in raising our kids. ALL of our kids will have different experiences than the people who are exactly like them. Its not just a color thing, it’s a life thing. We all live on different streets with different parents in different parts of the world.

If nothing else, it open my eyes to things I never thought twice about, such as HBCU’s and how a minority child may be slid into a catagory he doesn’t belong in at school.

You haven’t been in my shoes anymore than I have in yours. So why do I feel like you are judging me? Back off, I was simply stating some people purchase the magazine for reasons other than coupons.

            • Cheryl

              Chris,

I don’t think anybody has a right to judge you. Good for you for sticking up for yourself!!!

            • Ms Tee

Your comment just proved my point. Maybe “apt” wasn’t the correct verbiage-entitled is the word I should have used. Double consciousness still reigns supreme. Good day to you all.

            • Bella

gee golly some ppl sure like to argue on here! just let ppl be and dont worry about their lives. you dont know their life and what they do, so its not fair to judge something you know nothing about. this is supposed to be a positive environment for saving money 🙂

    • Kendra

I find some of these comments offensive and racist. I am a woman of color, and I subscribe to magazines other than Ebony and Jet. Do you think my mailman or husband think I am crazy or over the edge? People should think about, and choose what they write/say carefully. Some of your comments prove that racism still exist, and it is a shame. I have never stopped to think, “oh should I be buying this magazine because it is not geared towards my race”. I buy what I am interested in reading. Lastly, I could care less what my mailperson thinks. Their job is to deliver my mail only, not to criticize or judge me by what is delivered to my home. Sorry Collin, I just had to express my feelings.

      • Ms Tee

Kendra, it’s much deeper than that. I will just keep my rhetoric to myself

      • Chris

        Yes, yes they should.

  6. Linda

We recently ran out of shampoo with no good (enough) deals to be had (read: Free). We used all of the trial- and travel-sized shampoos (having previously used all the conditioners). Meanwhile, deals for Dove, Fructis, Aussie, etc. appearred and I stocked up.

    • Deb

U new to our Q’ing world?
Most of us have a good 20-30 bottles shampoo/cond products shelved from recent deals in our stockpile. Try to take advantage of every FREE deal that comes down the pike!
I only use the travel size for our wknd trips and vaca’s. Perfect to tuck into travel bags!

      • Linda

Heck no…usually have a stock pile, but I think my daughter started drinking it!

        • Dawn

          hahahaha

      • sringrose

I disagree with your characterization of “most of us” having 20-30 bottles stockpiled of shampoo and conditioner. I have THREE bottles stockpiled. I simply don’t have the room for that much unneeded product sitting around and my husband would kill me if I brought it home.

It’s possible to stock up and have a reasonable number of something, not a year’s worth. I’m not at all worried about buying more free or super inexpensive shampoo when we’re down to one or two bottles.

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I signed my friend up for one. She’ll love this! I love getting mine each month. The beautiful Nia Long is on the cover this month! Can’t wait to read it!

  8. Penny

I tried this for the first time today and I was able to get one. Thanks so much!!

  9. Christie

I got mine! Thanks Collin! And I think my mailman thinks I’m crazy anyways. I meet him at the mailbox most days. Yesterday he was later than normal, and came while I was in the basement doing laundry. I came upstairs to him knocking on our door because he had so much stuff it wouldn’t all fit in the mailbox. Now I’ll be getting Ebony, and he’s probably gonna really think I’m crazy! Lol

    • Laura

      This made me laugh! 🙂

  10. misstracy

  16. Cheryl

It says I have already participated in this offer, does that mean I have already signed up for this and forgot??? I don’t remember ordering this specific magizine, but I know I did sign up for one thru this. Hmmmm…

  17. NolaGirl

Thanks Collin, my subscription just ended.

  18. Rambling Heather

thanks for the info on the coupons in the November issue

  20. terri

I told the mail person that I was going to have to make her cookies because she has to come to the door so many times. She always has a smile on her face.

  21. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    Thanks. Got my second subscription.

  22. April

Got it! Thanks so much 🙂

  23. Betsy

I’m all for coupons and saving money, but for those that get papers or newspaers etc that turns out they have no interest in (and basically take the coupons) and then toss the mag/paper unread…… does it bother you that its wasteful and just adding paper to the landfill or the recycling bin, let alone the other costs? I live along and get one Sunday paper, which I would get anyway, even if no coupons, but personally I would feel guilty to get 12 papers simply for the coupons and chuck the rest. Now if the family is in dire financial straits, I could get it. It would be great if someone could give you their coupons (if they aren’t a couponer) — but easier said than done. And, wouldn’t it be cool if the publisher would sell just the insertts. Ha.

Similary, sometimes I order a free sample and get a speck of toothpaste or moisturizer and I think of the cost of postage, paper, ink, envelope, energy involved…..simply to get a miniscule sample. Makes me think twice.

    Just wondering.

    • Jehmie

I agree Betsy. I rarely sign up for freebies now unless it’s something my husband or I will use on weekend trips or something…

    • Chris

I too really only get the free samples of stuff we will use. I get the free full sized ones 🙂

As for the magazines – I am kind of a hoarder on those, just because I like them. I read all of them cover to cover and I pass 85% onto friends who also read them.

I also used to fill up a ship for one price box at the post office and mail them to Afghanistan when my sis – in – law was deployed there. I could send between 15 and 20 magazines for $12 and a soldier got to read them.

Hopefully people are thinking about other ways to use the magazines!

    • Savannah

I donate my old magazines to a daycare where I used to work. They are always needing realistic pictures to put up on their walls and the kids can also cut up the magazines and use them for art projects.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

First of all, these items are usually printed in excess anyway so why does buying more result in more waste? They just get tossed or recycled anyway. I usually never read any subscription I get (I get them for the coupons mostly) but I always drop them off at the doctors offices when I go or take my parents. So they are well used. Do not worry yourself over people buying stuff they do not intend to use themselves, someone will benefit from them.

      • Betsy

It’s great to read that so many people reuse, pass on the magazines and papers. Unfortunately, tooooo many people just simply toss their mail, papers and magazines into the trash (and other things that can be recycled). The US produces more trash per person than any other country — not a good thing to be #1 in.

My neighbor will simply toss her papers etc down the garbage chute, and won’t take the extra step and bring it to the recycling bins outside (and she is capable to do that extra “work”). A magazine of course need to print enough mags to mail out to their subscribers, so if less people subscribed, they wouldn’t need to print as many (less paper wasted, ink, transporting etc).

I know many will roll their eyes at this, buy as an aside…. we all know that its pretty easy to get a razor (comes with a blade or two) for free or practically free. So I get the razor combo, but on the other hand I know its wasteful …. since I don’t need a razor for every 2 blades, I just really need a razor and the replacement blades. And sure sometimes a new razor when the other one get old/grungy. I am tossing all that extra packaging (and the razors will be in the trash eventually). Just lots of excess. I know the companies want you to try their razor so they make it a good price. Need to look into getting better deals on just blades.

  24. Renee

How do you know if you got it?

  25. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    thanks

  26. couponmailj

Thanks collin! Waiting for mine! 🙂

  27. aesha

i use mine for my kids- my pre k has an assignment to do collages on diff topics 🙂

  28. Ms Tee

Thanks! I qualified. 🙂 I love Ebony magazine, my mom use to have a subscription but it expired.

  29. ashley

I signed up before but my magazine didn’t have any coupons inside. I hope others have better luck!

  30. Savannah

Thanks! I love being able to get in on these free magazine offers. I usually only read through the magazines once but I give them to a daycare where I used to work when I’m done with them. It’s a great way to recycle old magazines if you happen to have a daycare nearby. They are always needing pictures of people to put up on their walls and can also use the magazines for art projects with the kids! Just an idea if you get as many magazines every month as I do and don’t want to just throw them away.

  31. Dee J

Thank you, Collin. This is a great offer. I love being able to get magazines without any cost, and my parent gets to read them once I’m done, then it’s on to the high school art department for them.

  32. sringrose

You might also check to see if your local women and children’s shelter or homeless shelter would like your magazines once you have read them. I used to donate all my old magazines to the domestic violence shelter once I was done with them. 🙂 Nursing homes or assisted living centers might also be happy to get your magazines as well after you’re done with them.

  33. sringrose

Also, I really don’t understand how this organization Rewards Gold works. For a new member, they can get a magazine free for 250 points. I gave them names of two referrals which is 500 points, then did an optional survey for another 250 points. They originally stated that 500 points would qualify me for another reward, but when I finished the survey they stated that I needed the full 800 points to get the magazine.

This seems like a case of bait and switch, or how much information can we get out of you for one reward. hmmmmm

  34. Mandi

Thanks just completed the survey and got the subscription. I love reading a wide variety of topics so this was something I have no problem reading and passing on to someone else that may enjoy the articles too.

I never before gave ALL YOU a glance until I started couponing and found out it was stuffed full of coupons THEN I got the subsription and this magazine is literally one of my favorite because of the tips!

  35. Allykat

Yes! I was up for renew and this came at the right time. Thanks Colin!

  36. Lisa

Thanks for posting this. I love receiving this magazine and sharing it with my co-workers.

  37. Moe

I am a woman of color and I LOVE Ebony magazine and FREE is always good too! I do this survey every time it’s offered and now my existing subscription will expire Mar.2015. They always extend your existing subscription! 🙂

  38. brandy coleman
