I just got back from a yard sale where toddler clothes were selling for 50 cents a piece, and I got over 100 items for $45. Now THAT is a good deal. If you’re really trying to save money – visit craigslist or drive around town on weekends looking for garage sales. In comparison, these Children’s Place sales are still super expensive.

    • Kelly

I couldn’t agree more! The only time I take advantage of these sales is when I absolutely need an item that I haven’t found elsewhere (and the shipping is free!), OR the price of the item comes out to less than I would pay for it at the Goodwill stores. I do my school shopping year round at tag sales and thrift stores.. such a steal that way!

I miss the direct links that go straight to the stores during your deal. I personally use a different money back site then Shop at Home, and feel annoyed everytime I am directed to their site. I liked how you use to tell us about Shop at Home and provided us with a link to it rather then making us go there everytime we click one of your deals. Just thought I’d provide some feedback. Love your site by the way.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

There is a link at the bottom of the post to the direct site. Collin does this every time for the users who dont use shopat home

      • Kristina

I didn’t notice the link this time but she does not provide a direct link everytime as you state, look at the Free Veggie Tales DVD post, the one and only link on it goes to Shop at Home. I have been on this site for years and she has only recently started making her main links go to Shop at Home.

    • Kelly

I do too 🙁 I even use ShopAtHome and I still find it really annoying, especially when I’m trying to snag these deals via cell phone, which is how I roll most of the time.
I think the Target Jeans debacle last night could have been avoided if there was a direct link to the exact jeans in the post, which there wasn’t. I used the search term Collin suggested and it resulted in MANY jeans, which I think is what caused so many people to have problems.
If people are going to use SAH, I think there really only needs to be one link for them to click through, considering that each link brings you to the exact same place (and is often misleading with how it’s presented).. I appreciate the reminder and the link to click through to SAH because I do just that, get the whole SAH cash back thing “activated”, and then I come back and follow the steps.. except now there aren’t any direct links to take me where I need to go when there are specific items involved.

      • Robin

I think you both aught to be grateful that Collin works really hard to post deals at all. Find your own deals if you are going to complain…. geesh!!

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          AMEN!

      • Kelly

I understand Collin puts a link at the bottom to the MAIN site, and that is appreciated, but my main gripe is with the lack of direct linking to specific products. Maybe this is because of all the time I spent developing websites.. I just feel that a link which is presented in a way that leads you to believe that if you click through then you’ll be brought to that specific destination, should be linked as so and not to a 3rd party site – aside from the fact that it’s extremely helpful at avoiding confusion and saving time.

        • Melody

I’m a technical person too, but what I do is look at the link and if it is a shop-at-home one I simply go to my web address bar and type in manually the address, ex. childrensplace.com, rather than www even…..)

I often do this even by phone, which is harder to buy online regardless so I usually just use the laptop instead.

          Thanks Collin.

If you want a good deal we all know sometimes you have to work a few seconds longer to get it. No big sweat in my opinion. And if I loose out on it in the process I think of it as just a bonus that I might’ve liked. Still ok. : )

    • Collin

Thanks for all of your feedback. I just re-formatted the post for you. Hope that helps. 😀

      • Collin

And I also want to say that I really appreciate you all expressing your concerns, as it helps me decide what works best on Hip2Save and what’s not working.

I was linking like this so that less readers missed getting cash back. However, from reading your comments, I can see how frustrating this can be… so I am going to try and reformat future posts so that you’ll be able to easily click on the direct links.

        • Kelly

Thank you for hearing out your readers, Collin! You’re the best!

          • Collin

Awe, thanks, Kelly! I sure appreciate that! 🙂

        • Liz

I agree with the others. Thanks Collin for listening to your readers!

  3. Olya

Absolutly agree with Robin!!!, If you are annoyed try to work out your own deals, or post your topics with the links you like.

There is no need to jump down my throat.. I’m just trying to provide some constructive criticism. I have let Collin know last night when I mentioned something along the same lines that I absolutely appreciate all that she does. Now, that does not mean I am not entitled to my own opinions or denied the right to share them either.

    • Elisabeth

constructive criticism doesn’t use hurtful language. you used hurtful language. it’s not that you can’t share your opinion- nobody said that. instead, it’s preferred that you do it in a more supportive and tactful manner, especially since you are using a site where you benefit from the administrator’s hard work.

      • Kelly

        I’m sorry if I used hurtful language??? I didn’t mean to offend anyone and I didn’t think I was…

        • Heather

Kelly – Your posts did not come off hurtful AT ALL to me. Thanks for posting your feedback. I have the same feelings, as I don’t always use SAH, or sometimes I just want to see if the ‘deal’ is still available before I buy, so I would prefer to link directly to the product…

    • Kristina

Don’t worry about the naysayers, it seems from the her posts above that Collin really understood we were just providing some feedback and that we appreciate all she does. If Collin chose to never change the way she was formatting her deals, I would still love her site and be thankful for all she does. I just thought she’d like some different points of view. I personally always appreciate personal feedback on stuff I am working on.

  5. Heather

    *sigh*

  6. Elisabeth

wow…lots of grumbling today, huh? collin, thanks for posting this deal. i don’t have time to drive around to garage sales and so often the people who advertise on my local craig’s list do not respond or update their ads once items are sold. plus, i want to buy my daughter a nice coat, something formal, and haven’t found anything in our local goodwill that would do this time around.

i’m just glad to be alerted to deals that i most likely wouldn’t find on my own.

    • Heather

Yard sales have all but went ahead where I live, due to the weather (it’s COLLLLLLD!) Plus, I do like splurging from time to time on my little gals, and getting them nice pieces of clothing AT good prices, I can’t beat it. 😉 This site rocks.

    • Heather 2

I agree. I never find clothes at yard sales and feel frustrated with all the driving around and wasting my time on my weekends. Sometimes I find things at local kids consignment sales, but the Once Upon a Child where I live, charges such high prices, I know I can get something new for the same, so I appreciate the online shopping. It’s quick, easy, affordable and I don’t have to spend my gas and time driving around!

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Gosh…by the time I got through reading all of these gripes, I’d forgotten what this post was even about! lol

  8. Anne

It seems when CP has a great clearance, they extend it a few days later….but with free shipping. Did I get that correct?

  9. Dianna at savingsinseconds.com

Thanks Collin, my daughter needs a new winter coat! I added a few outfits too, saved over $37. I appreciate it 🙂

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I am not too happy with Childrens Place since I placed an order for two skirts and they ended up only having one in stock and they charged me full shipping price on ONE skirt when I ordered two and wanted the shipping split between the two. They took my order but they were out of stock on the nicer skirt. Watch out!

    • Elizabeth M.

Interesting! I just had that happen with the Aeropostale deal, but I’ve always had great success with Childrens Place. A few weeks ago I got 5 articles of clothing shipped to my door for just over $27 for my 9 year old. I just ordered a few more things. Only one item was listed as low stock and it’s a winter jacket. Crossing my fingers…
