They also have a great deal on Xbox Kinect Holiday Bundle. It is $399 (going price everywhere) and get a $75 BB gift card and free shipping. Target has a free shipping and a $50 gift card on the same system.

We had been on the fence about buying this, but this price is too good to resist. Thanks!!!

Oh it’s not a good idea for kids. I’ve read a few things online that say this should not be played by kids with their developing eyes.

We’re avid gamers in this house, and our son has the others versions of the ds (yes, plural). But we chose not to buy him this one after reading stuff online and trying it out in a store. I don’t think this product will be on the market for very long.

      • Lisa

Children under 6 years of age shouldn’t use the 3D option due to eye development, which is clearly stated in the manual. There is a very easy option to lock out the 3D feature of the DS. This is an awesome gaming system and I’d highly recommend it to anyone. My two kids LOVE theirs!

        • Tracie

Nintendo is saying 6 and that there’s no clear research. I have seen other sites saying since there is no clear research, they don’t feel it’s appropriate at all — better safe than sorry. There are also warnings — from Nintendo — about adults not playing for more than 30 minutes at a time, due to eye strain.

I won’t take the chance with my kid’s eyesight and I urge other parents to avoid this game as well. The regular DSi or XL is cheaper and safer.

          • andrea

I have two children with very poor eyesight (son is considered legally blind, in fact) and I have to agree—I would not take the chance, not until it can be proven safe. I wonder too about the 3d tvs, how safe they are.

      • Emilytwinmom

My husband is a computer programmer and he and his friends all are gamers. They all said the 3DS is awful and won’t last, none of them played the ones they bought. They said the screen is horrible, and I too read the reports about it being bad for little eyes 🙁 Even my 12 year old has said the 3DS “rots” after playing a friends’ 3DS, and he started out with a gameboy, then the advance, then the DS, now the DSi!

  3. Sue

I’d heard mixed things about the 3DS…but don’t forget that they can switch the 3D option off and just play it as a normal DS. Great deal!

    • R

      This is an excellent point!

  4. Ketsy

Toys R us has the pink one for 169.99 with some kitty/doggy game and a $40 gift card back 😀

    • angela

How do you get the $40 gift card back…I didn’t see where it says anything about it?

      • Ketsy

Page 62 of todays ad says buy any of these which is the pink one stated above or the red one plain and it stated get a 40 dollar gift card and bobble head stylus… Im in florida so hopefully this isnt regional. But its on their online ad as well.

        • Amber

Has anyone else been able to get the TRU $40 gift card to work with the pink one? It is only showing the free stylus not the gift card with purchase. But is clearly shows it in the online ad!

    • Jen E.

Is the pink one a 3ds? I thought the pink was only available in the DSi. Must know – daughter wants pink, but I bought the teal thinking pink 3ds wasn’t available :-/

      • Diana

Yes, it was just released in pink.

  5. Kat

The bundle with the Mario in 3D Land also generates the $50 GC. The bundle is $200. The deal can also be done in store and rolled.

    • laura

do you have a link for this one? I can’t find it or is it in store only.

  6. jen

I just came from best buy ( for the Mario wii bundle…$149. for Black wii, new Mario game, a wii remote plus and numchuck and a $20. GC…all because ours died) an I had a conversation with a very nice young man about the 3D system. I had been very leery about purchasing one, but he explained about being able to switch between the regular view and DS and that you can use parental lock on it. He said the capabilities are much nicer and it will accept all other ds games. He also said that many of the new games are only being released in 3D( but can play reg version as well?…still have to ask that). With the $50. back..we think we will go this route instead of the XLs the boys originally wanted.

    • michellecochranwells

Our rep at another store also told us that they won’t be making the regular games that much longer since the 3DS is their new standard and flagship product.

  7. tilla ham

can someone please find out if while many of the new games are only being released as 3d, that you can turn off the 3d option? After purchasing a game boy, a game boy advance, a ds, a dsi and a dsi extra large for each of my 4 children over the last 10 years, I am seriously irked about the popular new games only being released on 3ds version…when the dsi and dsixl are such new systems…also our family is not a fan of 3d, we always avoid the 3d movies in theaters

  8. Candace

Thank you so much Collin. I was looking for a great deal on one and you made it so easy for me. May God bless you and your family for all you do to help us save and pay it forward.

  9. michellecochranwells

We just got these for our kids yesterday at Game Stop for $169 AND it included the Mario game. 🙂

  10. Jean

Can the games for the Nintendo ds be played on the 3D console or can you only play the 3D games?

    • Nicole

Yes you can play the regular DS games in it, but the 3D games can not be played in the old system.

  11. Christina

We just ordered 2 of these last week. We should have waited.. This is a great deal.

  12. Samantha

Just got mine. I also did the game deal where I bought 2 3DS games and got one free. Oh and for some reason, the new Bakugan Wii game is listed at only 9.50 (whereas the preowned one costs more). Love that I don’t have to go to the store to get all these deals.

  13. joanne

anybody know when this deal ends?

  14. Jen E.

We bought 2 today….. Bought one first, then rolled the $50 gift card towards the second one. Now my hubbs has a $50 gc to use towards the new laptop he needs 🙂 Collin, thanks so much for the heads up on this. This is a gift both of my kids had on their list this year and they were not going to get because we didn’t want to spend that much. Thanks for making Christmas a little more special for my kiddos!!

  15. Shawn

We bought a 3DS this week to replace a broken DSiXL. I locked out the 3D before my six year old even knew it was an option. He hates 3D movies and doesn’t care to play it anyway. I went with this version because I like the ability to stream Netflix movies via the wifi capability. This will be a nice option when we travel when hotel TV is often limited in the kids channel options. Now my 4 year old is begging Santa for one too. This deal will make it a lot easier to make that happen.

    • Amy

Can you explain the netflix movie via wifi capapblity to me? Do the other ds systems have this? I am trying to figure out which one to get my daughter. thanks!

  16. Karen D.

Thanks Collin! This is a better deal than the $145 we paid for it at Target right before Black Friday. Just purchased this one and will return the other one.

  17. Tracey

I went to Toys R Us instead. I got a Pink Nintendo 3DS with FREE Nintendogs game, plus a FREE bobble head stylus for $169.99. They gave me a $40 GC (plus I get 10% R us Rewards next month!).

    • Diana

A friend of mine went in to Best Buy, I had her ask about the pink one and they told her that Nintendo wasnt making a pink one. I guess the employees arent well informed. Im hoping that they have them in stock sometime this week so I can get in this deal. I purchased a red one for $145 at Target the week of Thanksgiving, but this sounds like a better deal.

  18. Kurt

Got mine to play while riding the stationary bike at the gym! Thanks Collin! 🙂

  19. aprilferrao

I had been on the fence as well. Been looking at Bundles with the Marioland. The 3Ds at 170+ Marionland 3D at 40 = 210. The bundles at 200 so only saving 10, which is okay, but this way I can use the gift card to purchase the marioland 3d game. A much better deal!

  20. Stephanie

We knew our daughter would want the pink one so went into Toys R Us for the pink bundle. Was able to get the pink console, game, stylus for $169 and then a $40 gift card. The Toys R Us associate told us that the pink one is only available at their stores.

  21. Jenny

My younger sister really wants this. However, she’s on medication for seizures. I’m afraid even if we turned off the 3D, it would be too much? She hasn’t had one in a long time, but still.
