If you’re headed to CVS today and looking for a last minute stocking stuffer idea, you may want to get in on this deal!  Currently, the Magic Coupon Machine appears to be printing off $3/2 Hershey’s Pot of Gold 6.7 and 7.8 oz candy CVS store coupons, which makes the deal this week even sweeter.  Here’s how…

Buy 2 Hershey’s Pot of Gold $3.99 each
*These are also part of the Spend $30 = $10 gift card promotion this week!
Use 2 $1/1 coupons found in the 12/11 SS
Plus, use the $3/2 CVS store coupon printing from the Magic Coupon Machine
Final cost $1.49 each!  Great price! 🙂

Also, I’ve heard from several of you that the Zhu Zhu pets are ringing up at only $1 – which means if you didn’t score the $0.99 coupon from the Magic Coupon Machine that I mentioned yesterday, you can still score a great deal this week!  Several of you have also been able to get them at the advertised Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale price, so ONLY $0.50 each!  Wow, what a great deal! 😀

(Thanks, Jennifer, Elizabeth, and The Coupon Boutique!)

The Zhu Zhu pets are such a deal, I bought them and sent them all to Toys for Tots! These would make a lot of kids happy! Plus, if you are getting ECBs from other items, you could get these for free and still give to a great cause!

  2. Amy

Our cvs had the Zhu Zhu Pets outfits marked down from $6.99 to $1.00 as well! The coupon didn’t work on those, but at that price, still worth looking out for. Thanks for posting Collin!

  3. lisamb27Lisa

I bought them yesterday using the .99 coupon for zhu zhu pets and since they were on sale for BOGO 1/2 half, I paid $5.64 for both. But today, since they are now having BOGO free sale, i took back my receipt and received almost $13 cash back and yes, they rung up at $1 each, so I paid $2 for two of them! Hmm, maybe i”ll go back and get some more if this is the real price!

    • Krystal

yes, $1 each is the real price…good until the end of the week, however doubtful the hamsters will last through the day.

  4. Kristy

I bought 9 Zhu Zhu pets (all rang up $1.00 each) and then used my CVS coupon (which took off $8.99)…..GRAND TOTAL……$0.12!!!!!! WOW!!!!! Love it. Thanks Collin 🙂

    • Catalina

My local CVS had plenty on the shelf so i was able to do this same deal. They are going to make great gifts for my nieces 🙂

    • Didi

I don’t understand. If the coupon is for buying one for .99, isn’t that cheating the system?

      • Krystal

glad someone else sees it that way, hence why my store was changing the price of the coupon to a penny off, making the hamster 99 cents, as the coupon states.

      • Alea

Which is why more and more stores are tightening up their policies….

  5. Bonoca

Got a zhu zhu pet yesterday for $1. The noises it makes are all different & interesting so I will use it for training a guide dog for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. She is 8 weeks old now and it’s a perfect way for her to get comfortable around unusual noises and stay calm.

  6. Crystal

Yep the Zhu Zhu Pets worked for me! B1G1 and at a $1!! Im trying to find a good charity to give some to locally.

I’m just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem with their CVS that I am. It started back with the Illy Coffee, followed by Combos, Centrum vitamins and Zhi Zhu pets to name a few. I couldn’t even get three cartons of Coke Zero. Most of the items that have coupons printed from the machine are items either not carried in my store (such as the Planters snacks) or there is a very limited stock (six or less) and it is weeks before they are restocked. I’m not blaming the store manager, she is just as frustrated by it as the shoppers are. All the items are out of stock in the warehouse. I feel like CVS is just putting these coupons out to lure us into the store.

    • mel

Have you asked for a RC? What my manager does is staple the crt to the RC and signs off its ok to accept the exp CVS q (its actually part of their policy too).
For the Centrum Pronutrients, the manager let me prepay for 3 so I could use the q’s and get my GC. He put in a special order and will call me when they come in. Maybe you could try to work something out with your manager?

    • Krystal

my stores are usually all well stocked, but of course by the end of the week somethings run out, and if the items do run out at the beginning they get the items on their truck at the end of the week and have plenty for the end of the week

    • savedbycoupons

Not at mine. I went around 3:00 yesterday and scored (2) 12 packs of Coke Zeros and (1) 12 pack of Coke. I also got 2 of the 20 count Bayer Aspirin that they ran out of Black Friday with the raincheck they had given me. I had 2 coupons for $1.50 on the $.99 aspirins, so I made money on those. She took other coupons from the kiosk and it made the entire order $.42. It was a great score!!! However, our Walgreens is another story….they seem to run out of things, or not receive them from their warehouse. Also, the night cashiers are stocking up, so by 6 a.m. Sunday morning, there is little to nothing left.

      • Jana

I haven’t even been to a Walgreens for months because of their stock issues. I would even check their website and it would say the store had certain items in stock and go to the store within 5 minutes and the items were no where to be found and if I ever asked an employee I’d always get “I don’t know, we must be out.” I came up with the theory the employees were hiding items in the back. They also refuse coupons if they beep which is every coupon at Walgreens so between both problems I gave up. Its hit or miss with my CVS, there have only been two times in the past 2 years they’ve been out of everything on my list. CSV rarely has everything I’m going for though. CVS tends to be much more coupon friendly than any other store in my area.

    • Melissa

Yes, I am having the same problem too. It seems that unless I get there at the latest by Monday morning, I will not find at least half of the advertised items. I used to not have this problem. I think it is related to the whole “Extreme Couponing” fad. More people know about it now. Plus, I think the stores have not increased the number of sale items on hand.

      • Krystal

I agree with you 100%, in stock issues, even at grocery stores, were never a problem before this extreme couponing fad.

  8. edy

  9. Betzy

Im hoping to find some and donate them to Rush Hospital downtown Chicago, for the childrens unit. My son spent alot of time there during his brain surgery. It was nice that they ( the child life services group) would provide toys for the kids. It made the experience for my son a little less scary to have a toy to occupy his time while he recovered. They even give the children toys when they come in for out patient MRI’S . Hope I can still find some Zhu ZHu pets 🙂

  10. Melissa

Mine didn’t ring up B1G1 but were only $1 and the coupon took of 8.89…my store only had 5, but the overage applied to the rest of my transaction!

  11. Jessica

does anyone know if the coupons are still printing today….so I can go today if they still printing and if not am not going to waste my time. Thank You

    • mel

Consider your local elementary school. The kids need toys when they have indoor recess.

    Jessica

  14. savedbycoupons

I got an email stating the ZhuZhu pets are $1.00 at CVS. Lots of stuff on sale. The cashier at Walgreens told me they were going to have HUGE discounts on Christmas items. Their store bought them, so they will have to get rid of them. I’m sure it’s the same at CVS.

  15. Jessica

what were the zhu zhu pets price before. is it all the zhu zhu pets or the $9.88 ones. there were some for $14.99 but i didnt even scan them when i went. if they are ringing up for $1 i am going back! help please!

  16. Melissa

What is the magic coupon machine? sorry to be clueless. new here! Thanks 🙂

    • Cath

Look for a big red machine near the door–looks like an ATM. You can scan your card there and it will print coupons, as well as do price checks. Some stores have them right by the door, others are a little further in, at the end of an aisle, but everywhere I’ve seen them, they’ve been near the register in the front of the store. Good luck!

  17. terri

got email from cvs that zhu zhu are $1 while supplies last; GPS navigation gor dummies $49.99 (129.99); Digital Prism 7” lcd tv $29.99 ($129.99) and digital 3.5” handheld tv $29.99 ($129.99)

  18. Jaime

crazy good deal! My girls still love these from last year! Hope to get some more for stockings for cousins!

  19. Lauren Morrow

went to CVS this morning, 2 looong strips of coupons printed out!

  20. abigail

really hoping that people won’t hoard the Zhu Zhu pets!! hoping to get a few tomorrow and donate/ give them as gifts. 😉
remember that this Christmas season isn’t about gifts, it’s about celebrating Christ’s birth. 🙂
Merry Chrstmas everyone!! God bless you and yours.

    • Shanna

Same here! Mad I can’t get there today, car in the shop until tomorrow, so hoping I can get 4, two for gifts and two to add to my gift closet. Fingers crossed!!!

    • mommyspendsless

You’re hoping to get a few to give as gifts so you want everyone to remember that the Christmas season isn’t about gifts? (confused)

      • LOL

Lol! Just a lame way to say “leave some for me!” w/o trying to sound greedy 😉

  21. NL

Ooh yay. Pot of gold are good emergency gifts. Thanks for posting!

  22. Jessie

my CVS was out of the Zhu Zhu Pets 🙁

    • r.a

I went to 2store near by but came home with empty hand too…

  23. Roxy

The Zhu Zhu pet deal was a little confusing but it worked out great in the end.
The pets rang for $1 each. I got 2, since the ad said they are on a Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale. However, they each rang for $1 so I was supposed to pay $2. I handed the 99c coupon from the machine and it took $1 off. That was nice.

  24. Erin

My cvs would not take the .99 coupon because they said the new sale price cancelled it out. He didn’t even try to scan it to see if it would take off the 8.99. I am having the worst luck! I’m on the verge of giving this whole thing up! Is anyone else feeling this way?

    • Roxy

Erin, I know ow you feel. Sometimes I got it all planned and when I get to the store it wouldn’t work and I get so frustrated. It’s sad that some stores are different than others, when there is only one official store policy that everyone should follow.

However, don’t give up. What I would do is try to find another store. I find it very disturbing to try to ‘fight’ the cashier and explain that you are right. It’s not worth all the stress. I prefer to try to find another stores where cashiers are more familiar with coupons and the way they work.

And last but not least, I would call customer service and tell them what happened. They are always very willing to help with any issue.

    • Krystal

I don’t think the cashier is 100% wrong or right, he should have taken the coupon…however not for the $8.99. The coupon states that it is for a 99 cent zhuzhu, since theyre ringing up for a dollar, he should have just taken a penny off the price. Frankly, there is no point in the coupon with the new sale price. Regardless of what the coupon actually does, do you honestly think it right to only pay $1 for an item and then to buy $8 worth of other stuff, and use a coupon for a zhuzhu pet on something such as batteries? I don’t think it’s right and apparently a lot of other people don’t think it’s wrong either, and I could slap each cashier that is telling everyone to do this. I’d be willing to bet, and hope, that customer service would tell you similar, that the coupon is only valid for the item that it matches. Don’t get me wrong, coupon overage is nice, but this was an unintential glitch and I don’t think it’s right for us to profit off of it.

      • Alea

Krystal – I agree with you 100% – so glad to see there are other ethical couponers out there, especially this time of the year!! There are so many good deals out there already, no need to take advantage of glitches in the system.

  25. MELISSA

Amazing that these Zhu Zhu pets were selling for $50.00 plus 2 years ago at this time… and now they can not even give them away.

    • abigail

Haha! I was thinking the same thing earlier. Never imagined I’d be buying ZhuZhu pets to pay for my cokes 🙂

  26. diana

In addition to the pot of gold i also got a coupon for $1.00 off 2 m&m’s so stacked with $1.00 off 2 mars coupon. I got 2 m&m’s for $3.00.

  27. Marissa

Got 4 zhu zhu pets for 2.14 today. 2 for my boys 2 for gifts or donate them! I used the .99 coupon and they were b1g1 and the coupon worked on both zhu zhu’s!!!

  28. tiffany

couldn’t find one ZhuZhu pet at my local CVS. Not even a space for them on the shelf. I did score the Pot of Gold deal. Hoping the $3/2 cvs q prints each day. Gonna use them as emergency gifts or add ons. People love those.

  29. Ashley H

I got 1 zhu zhu pet and 4 kung zhu pets… that was going to three diffrent stores.. I had hoped to find a few more, especially girly ones… but hey, it was a nice venture out with my sister in law.. and since the last store had none and we were empty handed, we decided to treat ourselves to icecream.. mmm 🙂

  30. Lauren

My store had plenty of ,Zhu Zhu pets left and they rang up a dollar but not bogo and the cashier wouldn’t change it… Still a good deal though!!

  31. angelica

Does anyone know how long this deal is running? Is it through today only or for the rest of the week? TIA

    • Krystal

end of the week, however i doubt you find any by then

  32. Melony

I got 5 today and think they rang up at $1 each which is awesome. I got one for my kitten to play with (she adores it!) and 4 to give away. 🙂

    • andrea

Haha my boys have a bunch of these they don’t play with anymore, but my cats love them.

  33. edy

Yes the kung zhu pets and zhu here in houston reg.9.99 are $1.00 dlr and dallas too! My cousin up there did the deal only accesories are buy one get one free! But the 1.00 its a very very nice price!! And the school that I donated items last week it works with hearing impared children from 3yrs old thru highschool!! Social worker asked for donations!! Happy to be able to do it also pot of gold candy 3.99 bought 8 boxes used 8 cpns 1off each got my 10gift card and wireless R60 game system reg. 39.99 sale 29.99 cpn red machine 10 off used cpn and bucks paid 1.07 also the red machine its giving a cpn 3 of 2 boxes pot of gold candy!! This is deal all week except when cpn expires!! Also don’t forget makeup 75% off some stores haven’t had a chance to tag merchandise so some may have red stickers some will be on a basket shopping card with a big sign 75 % off good luck and if u don’t find any ask for rain checks it depends on store but my cvs truck comes in tuesday but they don’t order a lot because when its not a advertised sale like about the cokes 3pcks for 8 or the zhu they don’t think they would sell as much!! So by tuesday they start giving rain checks here!!!

    • Krystal

they cant give rainchecks on the zhuzhu, they are not regular items

  34. lovedeals

I bought the big bag of ricola. It’s included in the sale. I used 2 of $1.50 coupon and got $1 ecb. I also bought zhu zhu pet and pot of gold. zhu zhu pet did not rang bogo but rang $1 each, used my coupon and got extra money toward other shopping.
    Thanks for posting everything.

  35. Korva

I used the coupon overage to get an iphone case for $5 and 3 clearance nail polishes (Along with 1 hamster) for .50 OOP!

  36. Annie

I actually bought nine Zhu Zhu’s today using my coupon from Saturday. The cashiers didn’t know they were a dollar until the pets were rung up, and at first, the lady who checked out my items manually put in the coupon instead of scanning. I told her that perhaps it should’ve taken off $8.99, as the value of the coupon states. She had to call her manager over the phone, but it was okay’d and she inputted it a second time. So I paid $0.11 subtotal, $0.34 with tax, so $0.45 OOP. (I had bought the bandaids and cough drops.) However, I must have been too giddy about paying so little as I tried to stuff everything into my bag. I bought nine, but came home with only eight )= Maybe I left one at the register.

    • Krystal

but the coupon also stated that the zhuzhus would be 99 cents. The cashier was right and the manager was wrong, hate to say.

  37. Lindsay

I think they’re supposed to be on sale for a $1, so not really unadvertised. my store had a sale sign up on the saying they were a dollar?

  38. ola

my cvs zhu zhu coupon from red machine exspired yesterday, do you think it would still go through? (self checkout/ cashier)?

    • Kim

It will beep, so it depends on your stores individual coupon policy. Most CVS’s vary widely on their policy for accepting their own CVS coupons. I have one near me (my favorite one!) that takes ALL expired CVS coupons, no matter how expired. So I never throw any of my CVS coupons away just because of that CVS. For the two others close to my house, one takes them back one month expired, the other one won’t take expired at all, I am rarely in that CVS!!!

  39. Erica

I bought 4 last night (did not have the coupon), but was still a great deal for only a dollar each. I only bought them for the kids I needed last minute gifts for. They still had a bunch on the shelf – wish I had bought a lot more for donations as some of the posters above (fabulous idea for all you who are doing that!!!!).

  40. edy

Yes there a 1.00 zhus they have a big table by cashiers with a big sign 1.00 so nobody can miss it also kung zhu pets too!! I’m looking for more at different cvs last year I spend christmas in ICU with my mother and this year my girls work have good jobs so we donate to family members and hearing impared children from 3 years old through high school with items!! So this are for my donacions now I don’t need nothing feel good to do this!!

  41. Heidi

Mine rang up $1 and asked about the BOGO and the manager asked why I was complaining because I was getting them for $1. I just said that was what the add stated. I purchased the only 2 that they had and I wasn’t going to fight over a dollar. Can’t hurt to ask!

    • Coleen

Same thing happened to me…the cashier told me they had to be “hamsters”. One of my zhu zhu pets said “Contains 1 pet”, instead of “Contains one hamster” oh well.

  42. lovedeals

I got $3 coupon for pot of gold yesterday and today. So I think it is going to print everyday. I bought more ricola (big bags) today. It’s ringing 2/3 so with coupon it’s free.

  43. kat

oh well, tried to buy 4 of zhus, showed the add with BOGO then manager said he is limiting these 1 per customer for $1 , so I ended up with only one pet 🙁 better then nothing, but it is annoying they make up rules as they go

  44. Joy

I got 6 different pets.. they still had plenty on shelves..but wanted to ask..I didn’t read well before buying.. but got these for my cats to play with..didn’t realize you have to buy all the other stuff to make them work..urghhhh…. If I had to buy one thing to make them playful for my cats..what would you recommend? any cat lovers out there? thnx JOY

  45. edy

I went to cvs and they still have zhus I got 2 more and the cvs cpn machine still printing 3dlrs of 2 pot of gold candy combine with ur cpns!! Printing everyday if u don’t use them! Also printing cpns for loreal mascara we only have until the end of this month for beauty bucks they reset after 12/31

  46. edy

Waiting for manager to mark the cosmetics 75 off nothing she is taking her time!! She said she will put them all in a basket maybe by next week!!!

  47. Frank Morgan

Your CVS Policy states that a coupon can’t be combined with an item on sale, yet some of the examples show that. Is there a definitive answer to this.
